Well, we could recenter no problem but it centers back to the weird forward position. To fix it, we had to physically lean forward then recenter, so it moved backwards when you sat back into your regular position. But of course that only holds until you recenter again. Will check it out, thanks!

@Mistermann, I ran this with a few friends yesterday and was a lot of fun, thanks for producing it. I wish there were more of these out there. One question - my group, who all use VR, seemed to be forced into a cockpit seating position that is more forward than usual. Is there something in your mission setup that forces this somehow? Never come across it before. Thanks

Mission 6 - A-A engagement
SHazmak replied to SHazmak's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
Thanks for taking a look @Sandman Simulations. What confused me most is the ineffectiveness of my missile shots. Always within parameters but almost always missing, yet their shots always hitting. One other thing I noticed is that the Harpoons can be inaccurate, going after a random ship, not the one you lock. I found it best release within 5nm or so to make sure they go for the right one. But watching the lead's Harpoons, usually one of them goes for one of the refugee ships. But I think they are set to invulnerable so it doesn't mess with anything. -
Mission 6 - A-A engagement

Ok, tried one more time. This time I climbed to 30k feet to Mach 1.1 and got well within RNE before shooting the 120, which hit. Then immediately went to the 9X's for the second guy, within 3 miles, shot both, 1 missed. Somehow I managed to narrowly evade a missile shot. So something like 10 attempts in, I completed it. This one doesn't sit right with me, A-A engagements have never been so sketchy and I've done pretty much every FA18 campaign available. -
Mission 6 - A-A engagement
SHazmak replied to SHazmak's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
Yep, tried one more time with similar result, even trying different approach. Fundamental problem is that missiles miss 100% of the time. I feel something is broken. -
Mission 6 - A-A engagement

Ok, thanks. Might give it one more try before giving up and skipping. I don't mind it being difficult but the missiles missing all the time just doesn't make sense, especially the 9X. Never had such issues before, only on this mission. -
Mission 6 - A-A engagement
SHazmak posted a topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
Hi @Sandman Simulations, in the A-A engagement in mission 6, I just can't get past it after trying maybe 8 or 9 times. The lone AIM120 misses most of the time and the AIM9X's refuse to hit entirely, meanwhile the first missile one of them get off on me hits 100% of the time to instant death regardless of evasive manoeuvres and CMS. Now I'm not a noob, I do know how to employ these weapons, I fire with SHOOT cue, well within RMAX if not RME but they just don't seem to work on this mission and I can't stomach trying it any more. So, 2 questions: 1) is there something funky with these enemies in this mission or any DCS bugs you're aware of that's causing my issues? 2) If not, is there any way I can just skip this mission? Thanks -
Mission 3 recovery question
SHazmak replied to SHazmak's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
Thanks for checking, I don't remember seeing or reading such message but I could well have just missed it or pressed space accidentally. -
Hi @Sandman Simulations, just completed Mission 3 and have question about the case III recovery comms. The briefing does say that we'll contact Marshal separately but after Queen says to switch to Marshal, there's no further comms from her about the recovery. I found myself following her around in the dark with her typical erratic moves not knowing what she was doing and whether I should wait for her instruction or go ahead and contact Marshal. I eventually decided to go ahead and start usual case III comms and went fine after that. Just want to know if I missed some instruction from Queen or some intended comms perhaps didn't trigger? Thanks

Can introductions be skipped?
SHazmak replied to Steel Jaw's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
@Sandman Simulations I noticed in the intro for mission 2 with the MiG-21's taking off, the intro text shows October 2023. Should this be 2015? -
Can introductions be skipped?
SHazmak replied to Steel Jaw's topic in DCS: F/A-18C Operation Mountain Breeze Campaign
I was wondering the same thing. I just accelerated time to get through it quicker. -
Hi, quick question having just finished Mission 2. On recovery, I got a NC grade because of no communications, presume this is because you don't use the standard DCS comms. Is that right or did I miss something? If this is correct, I guess I should be expecting this throughout the campaign? I hope not because doing proper recoveries and getting a LSO grade is what I always look forward to at the end of a hop.

OK, I think I'll give the ROPL 2 campaign a break until the next update then! I'll give the original Raven One a try but not sure if it will be a little too complex for my level. And no worries, I don't mind raising issues when I see them. It's not to complain but so that you can see them also and fix them for everyone, including a few friends who are working through the campaigns too. I appreciate the difficulty in keeping up with the platform changes and I'm happy to help, especially if it means it helps you in making more great content!

Persion Lion campaign - mission bugs
SHazmak replied to SHazmak's topic in F/A-18C Rise of the Persian Lion Campaign
@Badger633 oh the ship exploded but because I sent a JDAM at it after I saw the 2 splashes and waited for like 5 more mins of accelerated time with no progress. I did refuel and finished the mission successfully with the below at the end -
It must be so difficult for you guys to keep up with and adjust older campaigns to all the DCS changes. No, I definitely followed the instructions and turned right onto the runway to double back for take off from 160. I turned left onto the short taxiway from the refuel point and then right onto the runway itself, right fork onto the loop and then left onto the runway for take off. All the comms suggested I did it right and I got the comms from Matrix that he was taking off. I was orbiting at WP8 or 9 (whichever it was) and watched him restart his plane, unfold his wings and start moving. But then he stopped in the position shown in the pic above and that's when I got stuck. I assumed he stopped because of the burned out Humvee in its path but maybe it was something else?

Persion Lion campaign - mission bugs
SHazmak replied to SHazmak's topic in F/A-18C Rise of the Persian Lion Campaign
@Badger633, thanks for checking it out. I only played it once - since I still managed to finish it and complete the campaign, I thought I'd move onto the next one. The splashes I saw were maybe a ship's length or so away from the ship. -
Hi @Badger633, I started ROPL 2 now that I finished 1. I just tried Mission 1 for the first time and ran into a breaking issue. After landing at the airport for the dignitary visit, I followed all the instructions to the letter. When Matrix landed, he went to his position for refueling to the right of the C17 but in his path behind the C17 there was a Humvee stopped/parked and he basically ran right through it, causing it to blow up. He seemed to get through fine it fine though to his refuel point but when after I had taken off again and he went to depart, he stopped ahead of the blown up Humvee and wouldn't go past it. I thought I'd head to the ABE and try to land to finish the mission but I got a fail for not having visited the dignitaries. Another issue I saw, which doesn't break anything but is a bit confusing.... During the recon section of the mission, the voice over comms mention a ship called 'Aramis' a couple of times which I had never heard before. It seemed they were referring to the 'Souria' from the final mission of ROPL 1? Is that a name swap or am I missing something?

Persion Lion campaign - mission bugs
SHazmak replied to SHazmak's topic in F/A-18C Rise of the Persian Lion Campaign
Understood, thanks guys. @Badger633 just finished the final mission and completed the campaign, was a lot of fun, thanks for the efforts! One last question though - in the first part of the mission your wingman has the task of destroying the ship at the docks. I circled above watching and it seems he completely missed with both of his LGB's. I saw 2 splashes in the water nearby a couple of mins apart. I had to take it out myself with one of the JDAM's to move the mission forward but there were no comms relating to his failure. Was this the expected outcome or did something go wrong? -
Persion Lion campaign - mission bugs
SHazmak replied to SHazmak's topic in F/A-18C Rise of the Persian Lion Campaign
@Badger633 I did the mission again, indeed the ABE wasn't responding to radio because I was using PRI channel 1 instead of 2. ABE was on channel 1 for all the previous missions so having it on 2 for this one caused the confusion. But for the TCN issue, it happened again and I think I know why. When I did the cold start I had entered the ABE at 72X and 180 BRC for take off and when returning for recovery, I had just left it assuming that would work. There is no A/A refuel in this mission so I had no reason to change the TCN settings after take off. It appeared to work because I got the HSI symbol, bearing and range but the range would not move. It was like a phantom ABE. I had to power cycle TCN and re input 72X in order for it to pick up the ABE again in its real location. It was like it had despawned and respawned during the mission and I needed to re do the TCN entry for it to pick up the current position. -
Persion Lion campaign - mission bugs
SHazmak replied to SHazmak's topic in F/A-18C Rise of the Persian Lion Campaign
Ok thanks, will try it again. It could be that I was using PRI channel 1, which I think has usually been the preset for the ABE in this campaign? But either way, do you know why I could never close in on the ABE below 53.1? Tacan is independent of the radio setting so navigation should have worked as normal regardless, right? -
Persion Lion campaign - mission bugs
SHazmak replied to SHazmak's topic in F/A-18C Rise of the Persian Lion Campaign
Hi @Badger633 thanks for checking and fixing it. I noticed though that there wasn't anything in the patch notes for the last update? I've come across another issue, this time with Mission 12. After I took out the SA6 at WP8 and headed to WP9 to RTB, the Abe again would not respond to Inbound. Worse still, though I had TCN set to 72X and could get its bearing, I could not get any closer to it than 53.1 NM no matter how far I flew?? So this time I couldn't even complete the mission. This was on the current open beta version, no mods. -
Persion Lion campaign - mission bugs
SHazmak replied to SHazmak's topic in F/A-18C Rise of the Persian Lion Campaign
Thanks for the quick reply! I'm doing the standard campaign, not the easy refuel or increased difficulty version. I'm using the current open beta without any mods. All the other comms were working fine, e.g. no issue with comms with the tanker. And thanks for the explanation on the CAT's, that makes sense! I'll be more mindful when using CATS 3 and 4. -
Just want to report a couple of bugs I've come across so far with the campaign. I'm loving it so far but the bug I came across just now in Mission 9 was especially frustrating. The mission 9 bug is that the Abe ATC refuses to respond to Inbound and I can't initiate any comms for recovery. I 100% did everything right, called inbound within 50nm after successful plug, COM1 was on channel 1, 127.5. The first time I did this mission I had this problem and thought maybe I screwed something up so I quit out and did it again with the same result. I was still able to successfully finish the campaign the second time by just doing my own Case I with no comms but this soured what was otherwise my favourite mission in the campaign so far. The other thing is that at the start of a couple of earlier missions (I didn't note exactly which) the voice over comms were directing me to the wrong catapult, e.g. CAT3. I go to CAT3 and there is no response from the crew, then I move to CAT2 and they respond. Hope these few things can be fixed.
