  1. Thanks for the good 'ole SeaKing, flown at least 4 of these liveries in my dim and distant past! Fabulous to see them here in DCS!!! Thanks again.
  2. Probably, if you want your terrain polygon count to dramatically increase.
  3. Happening all the time transiting the Black Sea or Northern Turkey. Also starting to get it in the Baltic and down over the Eastern Mediterranean. It can be a bit of a pain, as soon as you lose ADS B L or R then it’s time to check the GPS signal and switch over to DME/DME nav. The issue is that if the GPS dumps all satellites due to incorrect time coding then, due to the speed of the aircraft, it can take some time, or not at all, to get the ratified signals back. Hence there have been incidents, predominantly from Middle Eastern carriers, where aircraft are flying North Atlantic with compromised GPS systems. The problem here being that you are solely relying on INS with associated drift (especially after several hours compromised flight) which leads to gross nav errors! The linked systems are also compromised, eg EGPWS and forward terrain mapping. Hence these are often switched off to prevent spurious warnings on approach as the GPS doesn’t know where it actually is! Fun times.
  4. Looking forward to this, had the pleasure of a fair few twin stick trainer flights from Wittmundhafen with FW71 back in the early 2000's whilst on exchange! A handful at low speed and high AoA but a beautiful aircraft to fly!
  5. I must admit I'm struggling to understand what the issue over 'pre-order' is? I pre-ordered the module and it makes zero difference to waiting for the release and then ordering it apart from giving the developer a bit more incentive as they see the pre-orders go up. Why the 'never going to pre-order again' stuff? Release it when it's ready then I'll enjoy flying it, bugs and all. Until then I've got plenty to enjoy in the game.
  6. As a pilot and a programmer I can understand the complexities of both sides of the equation so I'm afraid I would have to disagree. Just as mechanics find something 'extra' wrong as they tear down a jet engine which delays the repair yet further, software engineers discover errors or performance hits as their software gets distributed to a wider range of hardware. My 'guess' is that the early release to the content creator community has show a few performance issues/bugs on a wider range of hardware. The love that PC builders have of chucking ever more diverse bits of kit into their already over stressed boxes of RGB leads to an almost infinite number of hardware configurations that software, even through the abstraction layer, has to deal with. It's another day or a few more days. Big deal. This forum will explode exponentially more if/when bugs are found.
  7. Looking forward to 'playing' the module in the 'game' whenever it releases. Delay doesn't fuss me at all, would rather a few days more than the weeks spent culling cores and scrutinising GPU settings that previous patches have wrought! Thanks for the heads up Big Newey. See you on the flip side.
  8. I would suggest he means that the 'later gen' pilots will miss the 'pull the wings off in combat and hope the flight control system will sort it out' and find that old jets depart pretty quickly! 'You can only ever equal the low flying record, never beat it!'
  9. Sorry Gents, just an old standing joke that was resurrected a short while ago over a few beers in Singapore between myself and an old mate, Throb! No factual basis. Apologies!
  10. Obviously you mean the Royal Navy Phantoms as there were no others! Just the ones stolen by the Crabs after politics sank the carriers! (A bored former WAFU )
