I dont just cover Winwing though, Also Thrustmaster and soon Virpil. Thanks, I'll make sure they go in the right place in future.

Hi all, I have made a fair few mounting solutions for the Winwing PTO panels plus a few other bits. https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/ricksrandomstuff Lots of variants covering the original PTO and new PTO2 panel plus QR plates for throttles and sticks etc etc.
-
For those like me who struggled with mounting options for my setup. I made some rigs and put them on eBay and Etsy. Sold quite a few already and everyone seems very happy with them. Even made one for those with F16 throttles, which also replaces the horrible rail mounting system they included. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/197002282999 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/197030193589 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/197011801984

Really? You know MSFS has been around since 1982 and is absolutely enormous. Using Steam alone... DCS Currently playing = 642 players All time peak = 3,328 MSFS Currently Playing = 4097 All time peak = 61,775 Its not only a greater market but absolutely dwarfs the combat aircraft arena. Based on this, I doubt we will see very much, if not anything at all from Winwing for us combat simmers. They will go where the money is (and rightly so...they are a business afterall) It started as a hobby for them most likely, and now its putting food on tables.
-
They told me at the start of last year to "keep my eyes open" when I asked about a CR2 panel and said by the end of 2024....but here we are. Personally, I think they have realised they can make a hell of a lot more money and sales in the commercial aircraft market and we wont see any combat kit for a long time now. They have done nothing apart from make Airbus kit through most of 2024 and nothing for combat sims was even shown at any of the tradeshows they have attended apart from the FFB base.

I think there would be more to that part of the story. If the goods were returned, they would likely need the postage paid for again to re-send it. Its not their fault it came back. I highly doubt they would keep the returned goods and just say Tough, you cant have them back. That is theft and I don't think they are thieves. So I will take that portion with a very small pinch of salt.

Can we get a regions sub heading? looking through countless posts to see they are not in my region is....not fun.
-
Got loads of their stuff, not had a problem with any of it although I feel your pain as I have had plenty of goods held by the good old customs teams. Customs are their own entity, they are nothing to do with the carriers or Winwing. They paid to send you goods and its not their fault customs were dicks about it. Yes there are lots of boxes, but that's how they have always shipped them. carriers are a PITA...all of them, but customs are a whole different level. They can hold your parcel for any reason they like, for months on end and there's zero you can do about it. For this reason I only order on the UK site to get goods to the UK, despite the global option working out "cheaper"

the display wont show anything from any other aircraft without heavy mods. all of the buttons, switches and dials can be mapped to whatever you like.
-
You answered it in your first sentence, "in real life" This isn't real life, its a game. its like saying people who play COD should do some training before they can be a soldier. Surely trainer aircraft are used because they are cheaper to train new pilots in them, and if they have an accident, its not an insane cost to replace it and taking a war bird out of circulation. You do not have that concern in a game so train in what you will fly.

I've tried all sorts over time..Just something feels off, cant put a pin on it.
-
Honestly disappointed in Kola. The entire map feels off, the terrain textures are either overbright, or washed out with poor textures. Maybe I need to give it another try.
-
I purchased Afghanistan and at first I thought it was average but after setting up a few missions on there with various aircraft I actually enjoy it. I thought Kola was going to be the best map ever...I was a bit disappointed and still am. But Iraq, although a lot of it is quite flat, is absolutely stunning. If every part of that map was modelled (Kuwait, Iran, East Syria etc etc etc) I wouldn't see any reason for any other maps to exist. We now have a playground full of history and recent stories where a majority of the released aircraft have been used in action. Countless sorties to re-enact etc etc. Well worth the money for me, I can see this map being the new king. Well done ED team, you don't get enough credit with this moany community. Just tell us its Fulda and we will be quiet

Ahh yes you are right. I might just disable it too...shame as it is useful for switching profiles. Its annoying as it should be a simple fix like the simple comms but they did one and seemingly forgot about the other.
-
Had a quick search and cannot find this being reported as still a bug since the last couple of updates. A couple of updates back, both the simple comms and the mirrors would default back to unchecked in the System settings. The simple comms was fixed and no longer defaults, but for me the mirrors do still and its really annoying! I want them on by default but after every restart the default to off again.

I would imagine a lot of "real world" features would also drive their decisions which do not really apply to DCS. The real world comparisons on which is best don't really apply imo. Its a game/sim/whateveryouwanttocallit.. buy both on sale, fly both and love both for different reasons.
-
have both and they both have their pro's and cons. the 18 has carrier capability but I find it extremely dull to fly. Its a bit like a Nissan GTR, its fast but just utterly boring. The 16 you have to land like a delicate flower, carefully and precisely, the 18 you SLAM DAT B*TCH on the deck (and spit on her) and she loves it.
-
Navy bird, SLAP that B@TCH on the ground...Airforce bird, be gentle daddy! Buy the module for the plane you personally love, then you will want to know it inside and out. I have both, but the 16 has and always will be my favourite airframe. I would echo some other points made though. It is more intuitive than the 18 in some regards. Different approaches to sensor controls but both extremely capable. There are more weapon options on the 18 with anti ship options etc. My personal opinion, the 18 is dull, which is a very odd thing to say, its a freekin fighter aircraft after all, but somehow for me its just not interesting and doesn't excite me. Everything feels like a chore, feels slow and uninteresting. But that's just me, you might love it. put your wellies on and jump in, buy both and support ED with cold hard cash so they can pay......the bills (or whatever they choose to PAY.....)
-
lol you answer questions like my wife, intentionally change the outcome to trigger an argument. Maybe you need a nap?
-
have both, the 16 is easier to start and get airborne. Less weapons so again, easier. I wouldn't say either are difficult. I just find the 18 horrendously dull. Which is a very odd thing to say I know as its a fecking fighter jet! But, for me its a snore fest. Sure, it has naval capabilities, can fly longer and carry a larger and more varied payload..but zzzzz Buy the module on the plane you love, then you will want to learn and fly it.

A basic movement is still a fair few hours to implement and I am sure in time they will get to it...but what I said was "Animations (especially realistic ones) take a lot of work". I see no value in making a half assed animation in a sim. it either looks as realistic as possible or its wasted time. You might as well hot key to turn off the pilot when you need to use switches than have some janky half assed attempt at animation which would ruin the immersion just as much as just turning it off. The good thing is if they can get the wireframe animation for it done, it will not be a lot of work to transfer it to all aircraft

Objective Truths which are not matters of opinion or open to debate, vs Opinions...ugh. We don't know the true reasons and might never, so opinions should be kept quiet until the facts are known. Many people cannot decipher the difference between fact or fiction and spout opinions as truths.... SH*T sticks, don't be a part of it. You don't know WHY it is still up for sale, it could be there as ED owns the code as part of the contract, and they WILL take over any future development (once resource has been allocated) and may already be doing it. Saying you cannot believe it is still on sale on the site because of the opinions you have read is just total nonsense. It is completely your choice to buy or not to buy, with any product. It can happen with anything, anywhere and just because you paid money for it doesn't mean you will get what you paid for. Its up to you as a consumer to do your own research and make a decision. Business is complicated, and as its been said before, mostly you never hear about the problems. If you did you would probably never buy a car or a mobile phone ever again. We are only aware of this situation because of someone's momentarily hot headed decision to air their dirty laundry. Whatever the reasons behind doing it, we have zero business in knowing why, or the reasons behind them. We are not written into the contract so have zero to do with any of it. I am hopeful that if ED could not maintain the F15(or any other Razbam module) if it all went south, they would have already removed it from the store to protect themselves from any future fallout...That's my non-fact based opinion(Whether you asked for it or not lol).
-
Trust me...it would be ALOT of work. Animations (especially realistic ones) take a lot of work. As much as I would love to see it and it would be awesome, I don't think we would see it happen. With every new module and map that is added, the resource thins out, unless they are employing more and more artists and coders which is not likely to be 1 for 1. Coders/artists/animators are not cheap and the cost of hiring them would quickly outweigh the income from new modules.

I hate this new canopy with very little marks or scratches, barely feels like there is a canopy at all. I know many people cried about the one with the scratches but they do not speak for all of us. Even a simple on/off toggle in the special menu would be nice. I did read a while back there might be a slider..but surely a simple on/off would be faster to implement for now? Makes me not want to fly it (I know how silly that sounds but it breaks immersion for me)
