  1. I say "All's Fair"
  2. Lol, quite different. The real problem with the vihker is your in combat. Your one person trying to fly the aircraft and do evasive, and find cover, and at the same time, trying to lock up the target. Air targets moving fast can be very hard to lock up, and jets almost impossible. The shkval simply won't lock, even if you have the box over it. For a single seat chopper, air defense really should be an IR missle, like the Igla. The missile just needs to be pointed at the target, and it will most likely lock if its within range. Now you can fire, and dive for cover, without having to keep the copter pointed at the target. The second problem I have with the vihker is that it doesn't seem to be able to keep within the laser tunnel when going against fast targets. In the sim, against jets and sometimes heli's, it shoots out of the tunnel because it can't keep up with it. And of course, thirdly, there's the heli AI, who seem to have no problem locking you up, ever. Hopefully, patches to bring us up to the new Warthog world will change that. I've been playing this sim for about 2 years now, getting a little bored with it, so would like to try an A2A igla / R73 mod if someone ever makes it.
  3. What are you talking about? Do you have some kind of personal beef against an A2A mod? Its beginning to appear so. I don't see any rules against mods. If you want to warn someone, warn the trolls. You seem to be backing them. Kind of like a teacher protecting the bullies. @Barra - Thanks man. I'll take a look at it. I really want to see some A2A on this heli, iglas if possible. But I'll take what I can get. Edit: Well, just looked at it, and thats just a replacement model. But thanks anyway.
  4. I'm looking for A2A on the Shark. And so are others. Like I've said, I've got the missle on the rail, now I'm just looking for a mod that can fire it.
  5. Well, since DCS absolutely refuses to even think about giving us A2A, has any mod ever been done for BS or LO that anyone knows of? And if anyone knows how this could be done, could you please post? I can see how to mount the R-73 with CLSID's, now I just need a mod to get tone and fire. I can't see anyway in the files so far though. Any help is appreciated ( by many people).
  6. Lol, you need a life, troll. Oh, and so YOU guys understand, all you little trolls made my ignore list. So **** off.
  7. Oops, misread what you were looking for. Carry on.
  8. Yeah, I can see that. I've never had any problems with the rockets in hover on BS though. But the copter itself is pretty heavy. Moving definitely helps with the lift. I don't think igla's on the inner pylons would cause any more problems than an S-8.
  9. You know GG, I don't even bother reading your stuff anymore. Your company is really hard headed and this is what pisses people off. Ever heard the saying "The customer is always right"? Funny how you had no problem mounting Kh-25s when I have never seen a single pic of them on a copter. Since your obviously not going to even think about things, would your company please tell us which files we need to mod to bring this in? I am definitely tired of being shot down by cheating air AI, and my only chance against them is Igla's or R-73s. @Speed - Thanks for the nice, reasonable post. As for where to mount, I see no reason Iglas couldn't be mounted on the inner ports. R-73's might have to be mounted on the outer, because of their exhaust. Kind of like Kh-25s. Not really sure how exhaust would effect the engines. However, Iglas look like they have no more exhaust than any unguided rocket.
  10. Oh, I could say that about most of the people on this board, including you. In fact, from what I've seen, most of the internet thinks that about the people on these boards.
  11. @Muamshai - Stick it dude. Go find somewhere else to troll. Your not adding anything to the debate. Agreed. I think ANY helicopter can carry AA if it wants to. For IR AA, all the seekers stuff (Hardware) is in the missle itself. Same for the Igla. All you need is a rail, some wiring, and some added software. You don't even really need hud symbols. Just a lock tone on boresight mode. Just make sure no friendlies are near what your aiming at . The controls for all of this have even been put in the Kamov ( both AA selection and ejection controls ). So obviously, it has been thought of. For some reason, and I totally disagree with it, most militaries don't usually put AA weapons on their copters. However, that doesn't mean that they can't carry them, as has been demonstrated. As a person who is mostly interested in helicopters, I very much would want one of my team carrying AA, in case I come up against other helis, especially modern heli's, like Apaches. I don't like being helpless against AA threats and having to wait for the jet cavalry to come rescue me. I prefer to fight. And when you are a single crew member, trying to fly and fight at the same time, you need every advantage you can get. The vihkers are not very capable AA missles. They cannot turn sharply enough and lose lock. Plus, it takes extreme amounts of effort and time to lock up said fast moving targets with the shkval. The software driving the lock on system in the Su-25T is probably the same that is on the Ka-50, whether Kamov gave you that information or not. A simple boresight that you point at the target and wait for tone lock. Simple and effective. Personally, except for discharge strengths of certain rockets, I don't see why this heavy gunship couldn't carry anything the Su-25T can. Along as its within its carry weight range. As for the missiles, pics of 6 vihker missiles on one hard point have been shown. I think thats excellent. Enough for one team member to carry on a hard point without sacrificing much in the way of AG load. If you think you might encounter a jet on CAP, 2 R-73's could be carried. I have fought jets in Shark by hiding behind hills and letting them overshoot me, but the shkval can rarely ( if ever ) lock them up, and the vihker simply cannot turn fast enough to hit them. Even Iglas would have a good chance of a hit in this situation. So in the end, I prefer to run AND FIGHT.
  12. Sounds like trimmer issue. There are two types of trim you can have now. They changed it to work with non FFB sticks. Look in controls section to change it. That sounds like the problem. I think its just one check or uncheck.
  13. Well, I'm not "looking" for an a2a fight. This is all last stand defense. The problem is the vhikers are just plain useless in a2a. The shkval has a really hard time locking on to aircraft, you've got to try hard to get the targeting box over them when they are flying fast, and they are really hard to lock when they are coming at you head on. But the worst part are the Vhikers themselves. They simply cannot hit fast moving targets ( over about the speed of a fast tank). They can't turn fast enough to keep in the tunnel. They fly out and lose lock. Saying they can be employed in A2A is a bad joke. And no, the Ka-50 is not equal in an A2A fight, as I described a few posts back. Laser guided seems to be much more able in A2A than beam rider. This from experience in the sim.
  14. And this is why you have few customers. This whole post could have been a lot more pleasant if the mods and the fanboys would learn some manners, and not give snobby little remarks when being politely asked a question. Not ignoring the wishes of your customers, over and over. Nothing was being demanded. This is why people off the board have a bad opinion of DCS and its community. And I'm getting there.
  15. Why don't you just put that in plain English Gtharos = "It doesn't matter what our customers think. Its what we want to do".
  16. I never said none. And a handful to me, over what?, 15 years?, is experimental. I don't see them being mass produced. And from what I've read, they're have been plenty of experiments with them. The Russians are trying to figure out how to maximize the abilities of a single crewed helicopter. I see no problem with reality if this copter sported Igla C's.
  17. Well, sure, but losing one stub is a lot better than losing a whole team of heli's. And knowing the crafty russians who think outside the box, I can DEFINITELY see A2A on some choppers. Its why I like the russians (and their nice weapons) so much!
  18. There's how many? From what I read, a handful.
  19. Lol, hyper-aware is putting it mildly. I'd say their downright cheats. And really, this is an EXPERIMENTAL copter. It's never really been put in service, and is still being thought about. Seeing as its still experimental, and the switches are there, I don't see the problem of enabling A2A. Kind of like convoy drivers in Iraq that got tired of their lot being killed, and started welding extra scrap armor on their APCs. The vhikers are just obviously not made for A2A. They can't turn fast enough to follow and end up flying out of the laser tunnel. This is why the apaches are so much better at hitting us. They don't have to worry about the tunnel, just if their missles can turn sharply enough ( and they can!). On a heli with just one crew member, it is obvious that IR A2A defenses are needed. Its REALLY HARD trying to do 20 things at once. Get tone, fire, dive for cover ( little that there is ) is what it should be. Half of the time you can't even get the shkval to lock up the chopper until their within close gun range. Then your dead. The switches are there, so its definitely been more than thought about. If its just a matter of wiring, then its probably the next thing that would be activated. If I was a heli pilot, I would not want to go into combat without this defense. And it really just ruins the sim when you have no defenses against other (extremely aggressive) aircraft. Iglas on one stub would be perfect. You could cover for your whole team.
  20. Not a good answer. Pretty harsh. Not good to ignore the wishes of MANY customers. All we are asking for, and have asked for as you say yourself MANY TIMES, is a small bit of code to activate the switches on the cockpit, and let us carry A2A missles. Vhikers and R73's would be fine. It would solve SO MANY problems. The AI, even at low, cheat like hell. I really don't care who thinks its realistic or not. They don't have to put the mod on their server. Really, I just want it for offline. In the end, many customers, me included, would like it. Don't you listen to your customers? Pretty harsh attitude. You ought to go out on the internet and see what people say about your company. They say you ignore your customers and have elitist attitudes. And they are right. It really makes me rethink about whether I'm going to purchase A10 or not. I don't deal with companies who sit on a throne and dictate to their customers.
  21. Well, if you see my point, and want to ignore it, then maybe you should try growing up. Ignoring facts is not very adult. And please don't post in my thread again if you really have nothing to say.
  22. Well, thats crap. I've been flying this sim for about 2 years now. I fly very well, and cautiously. THE PROBLEM is that there is NO AIR DEFENSE. Maybe you should do some better research. If they never meant to implement it, then why are there switches and buttons for it in the cockpit? Answer me that. I don't care if they never gave you any information for it, just please give us players ( you know, the ones who buy your sim, and have been asking for this FOREVER ) a mod to do this. Not like it would take that much effort. Because I and many others are getting a little sick of being told by companies, quite rudely, its our way or the highway. Were the customer, REMEMBER? Thanks again for the snotty little reply. I'll remember that the next time I think about buying one of your sims.
  23. I've read all the arguments for and against a2a on the BS. But I'm sick of getting constantly killed by anything else that is in the air. Their is a big difference between the laser guided missles carried by the other aircraft, and the beam riding vhikers carried by the BS. The AI can "see" you at any distance and through hills even. And they come for you straight off. Their missles never miss and it doesn't matter how fast you are going, they will hit. The vhiker, on the other hand, doesn't seem to be able to hit anything more than a slow moving tank. Even trying to hit slow moving, locked on helis is a hit or miss situation. When they are moving fast, the missle has a hard time keeping in the tunnel. And forget it when you fire at a slow jet. The russians obviously have A2A capabilities in mind on the BS. There are both arming and ejection buttons for them in the cockpit. They knew that the vihkers are "meh" at best for defense, and intended for there to be Iglas and R-73's for A2A defense. I don't know why people think that heli's should be totally defenseless against other aircraft. You say you don't have any data for how they would be implemented, but you have guessed at other things. So please give us a mod for A2A based on you "best guess" at how they would be implemented. It shouldn't be that hard. I would guess that it would be like the F16, with an envelope on the hud, and tone lock. When you hear the high tone, you fire. Nothing miraculous. The missles should be mounted on the inner pylons, cause their is not that much launch blast to deal with. The copter as it is now is weak. Let it have its full potential.
  24. God knows how many hours I've put into flying it now, and its still a bitch to fly. Landing takes practice, practice, practice. Another good thing is to practice trying to land and fly with only one engine. And then theres auto rotation, where you try to land with NO engine. :p Those Igla's are too dam good.
