We could say the same about the MiG-29A, you just need to learn Cyrillic and the metric system. But there is an option for an English cockpit, and so on, even though something like that never existed in this variant. DCS is just a game, and in multiplayer, sometimes American aircraft are used on the Red side. Imagine AWACS giving you everything in metric units while you’re flying an F-15 or your wingman is trying to explain you how far away bandit is.

I'm working on a MiG-29 cockpit for fabrication using CNC metal cutting and 3D printed plastic components. I need precise diameter of any perfectly round object on X and Y plane or width and height of a rectangle. If someone have photos with accurate mesurments please share. Thanks for all the info.

Chapter 3, Appendix 5 – Units of Measure for Air and Ground Operations Source: https://ulc.gov.pl/_download/prawo/prawo_miedzynarodowe/konwencje/zal5_wyd_7_pop17.pdf Translation: 3.1.1 The International System of Units (SI), developed and maintained by the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM), shall be used as the standard system of units for all matters pertaining to air and ground operations of international civil aviation, subject to the provisions of sections 3.2 and 3.3. 3.3.2 Recommendation – Measures and provisions should be established regarding design, procedures, and training concerning operations in environments requiring the use of specific units of measure defined in the standard, as well as alternative, non-SI units, or a method for transitioning between environments utilizing different units, taking into account human performance. Note. – Informational material regarding human performance can be found in the Human Factors Training Manual (Doc. 9683). Table 3-3. Non-SI Alternative Units Permitted for Temporary Use Alongside SI Units @drPhibes So no, feet knots and nautical miles aren't standard they are temporary allowed but ft and nm are compliant for now with ICAO standard. In addition, metric units have been used for aviation in Eastern and Central Europe, Russia/USSR, and the former Eastern Bloc countries since the 1950s, and sometimes remain in use today.

22 Years after introduction only on modernised G and PL variant, which doesn't exist in DCS. Americans demand we learn imperial units, yet they don't bother learning SI units, which objectively make more sense.

not planned at the moment Upcoming Vulkan API and Multi GPU support
quantum97 replied to zerO_crash's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I checked the Vulkan documentation, and it’s technically possible: https://docs.vulkan.org/guide/latest/extensions/device_groups.html There are to options Alternate Frame Rendering (AFR): One graphics processing unit (GPU) computes all the odd video frames, the other renders the even frames. (i.e. time division) Split Frame Rendering (SFR): One GPU renders the top half of each video frame, the other does the bottom. (i.e. plane division) This is a problem because with SLI, the driver automatically handles work distribution, so code written for a single GPU often works without changes. Without SLI, you need to create separate command buffers for each GPU, manage data flow and synchronization, and combine the results (e.g., left/right part of the screen). Which would require a lot of work. Regarding the CPU bottleneck, we are not limited by technology but by implementation. There are already processors, such as AMD Epyc, that can, for example, compile a program in 5 seconds, whereas our processors running DCS would take 5 minutes. The key is just the efficient use of the cores of these processors and an Epyc can have up to 128 cores. Presumably, if you ran DCS on such Epyc, it would use maybe 8 to 16 cores, but it would perform much worse because these processors are designed to execute computations simultaneously across almost all cores, yet they have lower clock speeds, around 3 GHz. Everything is doable the question is just how much time and money you are willing to spend on it. For example, would you buy two RTX 5090s just for DCS, or from ED perspective, is it worth implementing multi-GPU support if maybe only 0.5% of players would use it? Same for MT that uses 128 cores. -
What is Aloe cooperi doing all over Europe? Is this some kind of anomaly? The range of plants in this genus includes the Arabian Peninsula, Africa and Madagascar, so why are they found everywhere in Europe? Also, I live in Europe, in Poland to be exact, and you don't often see clumps of grass like that here, and definitely not aloe. I suggest replacing the model with any grass species native to Europe or removal. Aloe Cooperi: DCS:

@MAXsenna I was looking for a thread about the Ukraine map, and there wasn’t much about it. Besides, do you have any source that ED said they won’t make a Ukraine map because of current conflict? As for the Caucas, it’s true there’s a lot of work to be done on it, but there’s one major problem. The Caucas map is free, and ED isn’t a charity organization. In my opinion, there’s a higher chance of seeing a paid Ukraine map, or at least a paid remaster of the Caucasus than any update to current Caucas.

I propose adding a map of Ukraine and the neighboring regions of Belarus, Russia, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary where map will extend approximately 150 km in from the northern and eastern borders. This is a good idea because a wide range of weaponry is currently being used in the conflict in Ukraine, and most of it is represented in DCS. Ukrainian Air Force (Equipment already implemented in DCS is underlined) F-16C, MiG-29A, Su-24, Su-25 FC3, Su-27 FC3, Mirage 2000, Mi-8, L-39 Yak-52, Mi-24 Su-17/22 Historical , Other Western platforms in the future. Russian Air Force (Equipment already implemented in DCS is underlined) Su-27 FC3, MiG-29, Su-30/35 [Flanker Project Mod], Su-25 FC3 ,MiG-31, MiG-35, Su-24, Su-34, A-50 AI, L-39, Ka-50, Ka-52, Mi-8, Mi-24, Mi-28, Su-17/22 Historical This map could also encourage players to purchase Eastern aircrafts, and potentially FF Su-27 in the future. To further enhance the map's realism, it could have two versions: one set before 2014 and one set after, allowing players to choose whether cities are damaged or intact, as well as selecting a winter or autumn textures, because this region changes significantly depending on the time of year, and this will also finally allow to create a detailed Crimea, without remastering Caucasus. Also, to further increase the map’s potential, it could feature a relatively large number of airfields. This list only shows airfields within Ukraine it's hard to imagine the total number if we will include those from neighboring countries. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airports_in_Ukraine I apologize if I overlooked any DCS aircraft from either side, and please let’s keep the discussion away from politics.

@AeriaGloria Does the launch authorization in COOP mode appear regardless of an IRST lock, and is it solely based on whether the R-27T is in range, not based of if IRST has lock? If that's the case, it would explain why I thought the enemy had just manuvered my missiles, while in reality I was stupidly firing them without a lock xD Edit: I just checked first I locked on with the radar in COOP mode, fired as soon as the LA appeared, and the missile hit, so I don't really understand what's is the trick knowing when IRST has acquired . And It was at around 20km locking from back so it is sooner than I managed to acquire lock manually - around 15km
-
@Spirale I just use radar to lock target far away and COOP mode if I want to shoot R-27T and just shoot as soon as IRST acquired lock from radar.

It would be nice if there was an option to use the kneeboard in A4 format, and also if the current kneeboard could be edited. It would also be nice to have the ability to choose in the special options whether to use the current kneeboard, A4 version, or none at all if somone is using OpenKneeboard for example. Visualization based on F-16 kneeboard:
