I forgot the British Harrier for the Sovereign Base Areas, but really I only worry about the first step, which I'd like to be small and as F-16-centric as possible. Where anybody wants to take the expansion from there, I don't think there's any way it can really go wrong. There are other ways to do it, but I'd be disappointed to see the future sim's Middle East map resemble today's Caucasus map, or other compromises made because too many flyables were attempted at once. Cyprus just seems the easiest, smallest, soonest and most F-16-centric. Less is more. It's just an opinion, thanks for interest. -SK

-SK

To start with just the island and F-16C + LANTIRN, then expand to south Turkish coast and Crete, adding flyable Mirage 2000 and HTS for the F-16, then expand to northwestern Syria, adding flyable A-10A, "vanilla" MiG-29, Su-27 and Su-33 (similar avionics), then expand to Lebanon and southwestern Syria, adding MiG-29SMT, MiG-29K and Su-27KUB (similar avionics), then expand to northern Israel and add F-15C, then expand to southern Israel and add AH-64D and Mi-28N, then expand to northern Egypt and add F/A-18C and E naval ops, then expand to Libya and add MiG-25 and F-14, then add MiG-31 and F-22A while preparing an all-new theater for the "next project" basically to make the most money and play value possible for the minimum amount of work each step, with each stage contributing something to the next. and to ENSURE at each stage, avionics and terrain are maximum detail and accuracy, without anymore excuses about economics/we didn't have time/the "focus" aircraft is the other aircraft... I didn't think anybody would take it seriously though, starting with only one flyable, what a surprise - thanks for interest! :) -SK

Nice topic with many good wishes! Some editor wishes for the sky :) - .mis mission files to be able to save debriefing results - clients able to see mission goals in editor before flight - clients able to see assigned targets in editor before flight - clients able to choose lead position of flights past #1 within an airgroup - Ctrl-C "re-classify" editor cheat disabled for classified missions - host to control whether clients can change payload - vehicle group object positions are no longer rearranged into a line whenever one of their types is changed -SK

Интересный БТР-80 ;) http://www.armyrecognition.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=312 -SK -

It seems that the version with passive seeker 9B-1032E was shown for the first time at MAKS 2005: http://www.missiles.ru/_foto/MAKS-2005_weapons/R-27P_CRW_0157.jpg http://www.missiles.ru/_foto/MAKS-2005_weapons/9B-1032E_L-113E_CRW_9542.jpg I read somewhere that in addition to anti-ECCM role, it IS also supposed to be targetted against enemy fighter radars (to force them to shut down), just like an ARM against a SAM site. -SK

E-3s also have longer wavelength. Pilot testimony says it's for use against jamming aircraft like EA-6B and EF-111, none of which exist in Lock On, or against fighters launching SARH missiles, which are now obsolete. -SK

You've got to be kidding... Third page of the thread so far, and nobody mentioned "BS"?! -SK

Image files from abandoned projects . . . .
SwingKid replied to britgliderpilot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The bort number colors appear to be "hard-coded," unfortunately. The new avionics come as an "emergency" result of operational experience. The crash of several Flankers into mountains in bad weather led to a GPS system being installed, and the inability of the RWR to detect approaching Israeli fighters during the Med cruise led to installation of new Pastel RWR. No new radar or weapons capability, no R-77. -SK -

Actually that's the first time I ever saw Red #80, thanks. It seems that operational squadron aircraft all have red side numbers - which is unfortunate since three out of the four Lock On Su-33 skins use blue side numbers. My records include, Red: 60, 61, 64-68, 72, 76, 77, (now 80) and 81-88. #70 and 73 were destroyed in accidents, #82 was the first Su-33 upgraded with new avionics. Blue: 39 - prototype T-10K-2, first carrier landing 59 - second "serial" prototype T-10K-4 69 - third "serial" prototype T-10K-5 70 - unidentified prototype 79 - fourth "serial" prototype (gray nosecone) T-10K-6 no number? - fifth "serial" prototype (gray nosecone) T-10K-7; remained in Ukraine 109 - last of the first serial production batch T-10K-9 I only saw the tiger-head so far on Red #80 and #86 Cheers, -SK
