  1. NP CD contains the season pack. I think you will have to put the LockOn Gold CD into the CDROM for it to play, and that's after getting the code from SF.
  2. No. I don't have LO GOLD. Yes, that's what others have said. They need a code from SF and the CD in the drive.
  3. I thought that too. However, people who had it said they had to get a activation code from SF. I have the NP CD, and I didn't have to call up SF to get it activated.
  4. I think Stormin has a point in his speculation. However, this is my concern. If those files in LockOn Gold get out to the internet, all those sick minded players will have a free ride. After all, how does SF verify the game's authenticity? As Stormin speculates, the FC in the Gold version is the download version which doesn't require a CD check. Otherwise, it has to be the CD check version which ED didn't say that they gave a master to Evolve.
  5. Exactly what he said. Let me put it in other worlds for him. "We royal ED supporters have to pay more the same thing."
  6. You probably won't hear anything directly from ED. As far as they are concerned, damn if they talk and damn if they don't. So they will choose not to, and that's what I would do too (in business and politics).
  7. Yes, it does. A friend of mine just picked up a copy yesterday, and you know what. He didn't have to contact SF to get it working.
  8. So. Does that mean that ED knew about the inclusion of FC in LockOn Gold and didn't want to tell us about it or ED made a special version of FC intended to be included in LockOn Gold?.
  9. You know what they say. Having a good product is only 20% of the business. That's why tech startups gave out majority of the shares to VCs to run their businesses.
  10. It looks like FC is also $30 at NP's site, and I'm going to need another copy of FC for my second machine. Trying to think if I should buy it at EB or order it from NP. If I buy from EB, I will also have a extra copy of the original LockOn as well.
  11. leafer, did you get your copy of FC yet? I think it is the summer and people are spending more time out doors  or they are spending more time with AF. :icon_roll
  12. SwingKid in the beta test team should know, and also Stormin should have some connection with ED as well. The fact that these people are not saying anything is either they don't want to come forward or ED is keeping their mouths shut. Either way, I think ED is doing the right thing because ED is going to get hurt (finacially or in reputation or both) when comming forward. Regardless if ED is in it or not.
  13. Then, all of us bought the NP verion or the download version have been ripped off. Now should I be mad :icon_evil at ED?
  14. After give this issue some more thought, it might be possible that ED is in it too. After all, ED needs to put the game in stores. NP is a good start point; but who knows NP. It might be that sales through NP is not doing as expected, and ED needs an extra push.
  15. Well. What exactly can ED do? Tell SF not give out the code? That will be a silence admission that Lock On Gold contains 1.1. I think EG is taking advantage the fact that ED and SF are a small Russian companies and their legal resources in the west, where most of their revenue comes from, are limited.
  16. The publisher of Lock On Gold is EvolvedGames. A quick search find Evolved Games only has 3 games in their product line, and Lock On Gold is not one of them. From the limited screen shot of them, the graphics look dated. The most interesting thing is, the later new update on their website is on Feb 4, 2005. Their domain is register to Michael Bellhorn who used to work at Moby as a QA officer. Here is the detail... evolvedgames.com Michael Bellhorn 800 E. 17. I rest my case if the original goal is to make objects invisible within 2-6km. I always thought that the transparent technic is to make objects to blend with the ground texture so they can have a more natural look. Hence the "no" answer to your question.
  18. I hope you have the cd version.
  19. No. The effect of fog and haze only reduce the over all contrast of the terrain texture and the objects at a particular distance. The way I look at it is. You add a layer of fog every 2 to 5 km, and they are only facing the camera. For the terrain and objects at 2km, nothing is affected. However, for the terrain and objects at 50km, the contrast is almost reduced to 0 because you have quite a few layers of fog between the camera and the terrain and objects.
  20. Kryote is not talking about the pop up effect. He is talking about how the transition should be done differently. Instead of making objects semi-transparent, use a haze effect or fog effect. Both IL2 and FS2004 uses either fog or haze to make distant objects blend in with the ground texture and gradulely fate in. It works out nicely.
  21. Like SwingKid said. That was the reason for distant objects like transparent so they can fade. However, it does not have to be done this way. If you look at how fog is implemented, you know what I mean.
  22. I don't think so. Zooming in only reduces the rendering field of view, not moving to virtual camera closer. As far as DirectX is concerned, those buildings and trees are still far far away, and ED wants far away objects transparent. I too love to have an option to turn this off.
  23. A lot of tanks now have anti-laser source capability.
  24. I suppose the ground troops are not going mis-identifying targets. Going back to the original topic. If the target info (moving or stationary) is received with some kind of "help", I rest my case. This is obviousely better than a ground AWACS.
  25. Yes, there are. They are called IR guided missiles. Unless you mean TV guided missiles. First of all, using TV camera to locate a fast moving target is almost always impossible. A aircraft's visible spe profile can change dramatically depending on viewing angle. Last but not the least, visible spe is susceptible by jaming, much easier than IR.
