  1. Here's luckybob's method which works much better than the wiki one: Use your LOD0 file. Select one of the four that you want. Attach that one to the other 3 to form a big square. go into vertex mode and select all the verts. Next to "weld", there is a little box square, click that, then set the threshold to .001. That should combine all the overlapping verts while not messing with any of the other ones. Next step is to reset the pivot point. Then, apply a uvw modifier to the entire thing. Finally, link it to a LOD2 dummy.
  2. Surely, and I believe Trujilo's using the satellite imagery from El Instituto de Cartografía de Andalucía. His maps are using 8192x8192 BMPs which would take a lot of memory, so he needs to keep his map smaller. The terrain is also limited in the number of objects, so I don't think all of Spain would be realistic to do. You can consider doing maybe central Spain like near Madrid with the El Instituto de Cartografía de Andalucía imagery. It is public domain so you will not be violating any copyrights.
  3. I forgot to take some pics at higher altitudes. New colors from Angels 20:
  4. Achurro, someone is already working on a Spain map. See here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=47375
  5. I need these planes plus the Chengdu J-7 and Mig-21. Where is Rick these days? Also we need to add the following aircraft: Nanchang Q-5 Fantan FH-7 J-15 Flying Shark (Su-33 equivalent) Tu-16 Bomber
  6. Thanks Ed, how is Nellis/Nevada coming BTW?
  7. Hi, is anyone interested in porting this over to FC2?
  8. After switching the display to my Samsung TV, I decided that the terrain colors needed some more tweaking. Here is the result:
  9. I'm working on tweaking the colors to blend in better with the game:
  10. There will be two versions, one with FC2 resolution terrain and one with the higher resolution mesh. Obviously the high res one will look a lt better since it has four times more detail.
  11. Thanks! It comes at a price however as the final map might be over 1 GB...
  12. And medium to low altitude in the A-10: Medium and low alt with the A-10:
  13. Here's the same terrain rendered at 4x the detail of the last few screenshots and the default LOMAC terrain:
  14. When using 8194x8194 BMP textures, did you notice a performance hit? T-Bone
  15. Welcome to the People's Republic of China.
  16. I don't think so as it is using the land.lsa2 from LOMAC FC 1.12, and BS/FC2 use a different land coverage area. It would be better to just use a new map. Has anyone tried Hawg11's Nevada in FC2 yet?
  17. Using a terragen shader, I rendered a small slice of Alaska at 1024 resolution (default is 512). It looks pretty good, and similar to the regular LOMAC engine terrain except more detailed: Since public domain Landsat7 data is limited in resolution and terragen is infinite in how detailed it can be, I think the best solution would be to go about hybridizing terragen and landsat7 imagery.
  18. FYI: Don't use Google Earth for your map if you want to put it up for download or use it for an official/unofficial addon. Grab the noncopyright raw NASA public domain Landsat7's from this site: http://glcf.umd.edu/index.shtml and then follow the tutorial on how to combine the color channels on the Geotiffs. T-Bone
  19. Here they are. It's pretty lame the Chinese gov't blocked youtube, google, facebook, etc.
  20. I'm making good progress on finding a way to present terrain realistically from all altitudes in the FC2 engine: Angels 6 using a new low level noise texture: Angels 30: Not bad considering this was what we had just a few weeks ago:
  21. What do you guys think of this? Terragen used as a color overlay on top of Landsat7 imagery to prevent color clashing at low altitudes: 6000 feet AGL showing off some new noise textures 30,000 feet AGL, with better colors: Obviously the vegetation colors are a little off for Manchuria, but we can save this particular shader for Venezuela or Indonesia.
  22. I just verfied with ED's terrain lead that they have been using satellite pictures combined with Terragen. This gives me some ideas...
  23. What do I need to do?
  24. I remember in FC1.12 we could create cutscenes for campaigns. Is this still possible in FC2?
