  1. Have you already bought the Warthog AS? I knew you planned to. Anyway, when you have the ball joint without any pressure on it, it has the same type of friction as under pressure. So I think what you supposed is not the couse.
  2. I'm thinking of a way to extend the stick by a metal tube of about 15 cm. Then you probably overcome the contact stickyness of the ball joint.
  3. Download high resolution pictures here My findings of the TM HOTAS Warthog as an are not quite as satisfying as I hoped for. The first thing I noticed is that the stick is not smooth when you give very small inputs. Inputs that are of high importance for formation leaders flying loops and barrel maneuvers with wingmen 3 feet of your wing. Self test: Pull the stick back as slowly as you can. You will notice "bumbs" which can subscribed as "stickiness". So, I decided to take a look inside of the TM Warthog stick to see what coused this. It became clear to me as soon as I found out that the ball joint (cap and ball) are both of plastic (yes, plastic!) and besides that, there is a large surface of contact between the two. Even though it is all greasy inside, I think this design is not as perfect as it appears to be. TM claims that the 3D magnetic sensor has a surgical precision of 16-bit resolution (65536 x 65536 values) and I for sure believe that, though when the technical system doesn't allow you to make small adjustments because of lack of smoothness, the high resolution is rather pointless. I'm hoping that this "stickyness" will dissapear over time, though most likely it will not. For now, it is impossible to fly as smooth as required as formation aerobatic leader. At this point, I hate to admid that my 150 euro X52Pro allows me to fly more precise as an formation aerobatic leader. For the rest, the TM HOTAS Warthog looks and feels awesome. Advice for protential buyers: Combat pilot: adviced Solo aerobatic pilot: adviced Formation wingman pilot: not adviced Formation leader: useless
  4. Serial: 02633 :joystick: The Netherlands
  5. Thought I would miss my WTF moment of the day, but no, there it is.......WTF? :D
  6. ED doesn't earn money with documenting ;) You are supposed to play the game, not mess around in their configs (I guess that's their way of thinking). And yes, as they build on build you get obsolete files for free aswell.....
  7. People, transparency of objects is NOT a bug or a hardware problem. This is exactly how ED intended it to be (whether you like it or not). The idea behind this is to simulate haze on objects. I know, it's a very cheap way and I HATE it aswell. You can screw around with settings and partially solve it, though not without big effects on FPS. The love-hate relationship with ED continues........:D
  8. "DCS: GR9 Harrier" would be the coolest sim evar! Period :joystick:
  9. I have like 25 degree with my X52Pro and never had any problems with it :D

  11. Ah, got ya. Thanks for that info! I guess it will be either 3D or touch ;)
  12. About the buttkicker, a team mate of mine owns one and told me they don't work well with LockOn/FC2. Will ask him for some more info.
  13. Clouds are not included in the graphics.cfg. It is possible to make some adjustments, but I don't know exactly where and it will be far more advanced as editing the graphics.cfg
  14. graphics.cfg in config folder. Allthough outdated, you may learn a lot from this "DCS Black Shark Tweak Guide Alpha Version".
  15. I don't like it either. One of the reasons I barely do combat. I still love the sim for it's stable netcoding and the possibility to fly formation and aerobatics though ;)
  16. This "see through" has been introduced with FC2. Not a welcome feature if you ask me. Too bad you can't disable it (AFAIK) Trees have always been "fly through" and "see through for AI". Basically, the trees are not there and you only see them......
  17. Hmmm, yea that is what I was afraid of. It would be eigther a touch panel (screen) or 3D...... I know you can adjust the amount of 3D effect, and maybe place the cockpit more backwards, would that help any? Thanks for your answer :)
  18. I'm saving money for 3D but I have one question for you. What if you combine the 3D with a touch panel? Could you do a test for me and get the 3D "deepness" setup in a way that when you look straight at one button (supposing you got Track IR) it will be on the glass of your screen? If that works I would be very happy. I never really wanted to build a cockpit since I like to fly different planes (that's why the touch panel), I love 3D and I would be very happy to have a "HOTASAS" (Hands On Throttle And Stick And Screen) :D Thanks in advance!
  19. Some of these pictures are really great! Thanks for sharing
  20. You could do a walk through my "DCS Black Shark Tweak Guide Alpha Version" to understand the areas where you can win some FPS. But I'm surprised that even on these high end systems people still suffer from low FPS. I think ED should stop implenting new eye-candies and take a serious look at how to improve the game engine. Tweaking can be fun for some, but comeon, it should not be needed on high end systems.
  21. Thanks for that info :) +1
  22. Hehe yea something you definitely don't want to happen in real life :smilewink: But in the virtual world, I love those "WHOA that was close!" moments
  23. During one of our practises last week, we trained in two seperate groups. Group one was training for the general formation routine of our show whilst group two was training the afterburner takeoff barrel roll. As leader of the 4ship, I looked over my shoulder while initiating the right barrel roll when I saw something big passing us at high speed.......:D Thanks Sawamura for taking these shots
  24. What about FPS & flying over cities?
  25. lol
