Sort of, sort of not. It's deceptive when they say that it's the same throttle grip, because it isn't, there's some key differences you could work around in your home but in the real world they're totally incompatible due to different switch designs.

Drone.

No, see the 'flying legend' will be the F/A-18, because it's old, out of date, useless, and sucks :D No really though, I think it's a fair bet that it'll be a Cold War era aircraft, so I think the F-4 is a good guess.

Uh.... I don't know. -
Wait, what? North? Looks to me like the arrow is pointing to the left, definitely not along that runway. It's the taxiway that appears to be north/south oriented. EDIT: Nevermind, missed Dragon saying the left/right runway.

Feel free to ask questions. If I don't know, I'll make up an answer to satisfy you :D -
I'm pretty sure the n-load is a Have Quick feature (the beeping when cycling backwards from channel 20 definitely is) which isn't modeled either. It's most likely letting you load the FMTs, or if not that, then a key for the secure voice. You're not missing anything, it would break your head trying to get it to work. God knows we don't, and usually most pilots don't either.

Oh man, LIFE SUPPORT? Weapons idiots nearly breaking my antennas off? Avionics was clearly working ICMS on the jet behind the crew chief, as the speed brake is hyperextended and the AGE is out... they threw us off work just to shoot this silly video glorifying people who do nothing (well, except for you little crew chief... though you look way too happy to be one. Maybe you work in support?) -
It's the sound echoing through the airframe. You can't really hear that much sound from the outside through the pilot's helmet and canopy.

Wat? Minecraft is more graphically demanding than Mount & Blade. DWARF FORTRESS is more graphically demanding.

While the capability of the radios is impressive, they are unfortunately giant pieces of expensive crap. SATCOM breaks all the damn time on them... the most reliable radio we have is still the original UHFs because it's the least-complicated one, which is probably why it's the only radio that hasn't been replaced. ARC-210s introduced a pile of LRUs along with them to include a high-power and low-noise amplifier as well as some very dodgy wiring... and with every LRU you've increased the chances of failure by that much as well. JHMCS is even worse. That's because the right throttle grips are replaced all the time because there's so many switches in them that are used so often that they break all the time. The left grip has one semi-useless switch (lights? lol) and the autopilot engage and thus doesn't tend to break, whereas on the right grip the radio knobs break, the TDC resistors wear out, and, don't forget - they were recently replaced as part of the A-10C upgrade itself. PS: There is a special place in hell for the overpaid moron who designed the ARC-210's BIT system as well - featuring the most cryptically useless details of failure to such an extent that it's literally useless.

Those explosions are awfully fiery :/ Still, better effects, yus plx

I'd like that :) I've been wondering for a while why the RWR doesn't ping radar returns from civil airports... RWR systems are finicky and due to their intense sensitivity, one of the ways they commonly fail is induced interference within the system itself it translates as false nails or spikes.

Don't discount the millions and millions of dollars being funneled into the F-15E which is undergoing its third major avionics revision and upgrade in five years. F-15Cs, F-16s, and even F/A-18s all are living on borrowed time - F-15Es aren't going anywhere for several decades. -
I always laugh at the pilots when I see them in those stupid trash bags.

My favorite video was the one posted on here of the guy flying back all shot up with his engines on fire, and about three hundred feet away from the runway, both wings randomly snap off and he explodes :D

I don't have a lot of experience with civilian or 'lesser' FLIR cameras, but I honestly don't think you would. I mean, if hot air from an aircraft were visible in the camera, wouldn't the entire image be a washed-out mess? The atmosphere itself is wildly divergent in temperature, heat rising from an asphalt road would blind you, and I imagine even heat from the FLIR aperture itself would cause immense visual noise. I mean, we already established the obvious a few pages ago, that atmospheric air is fairly transparent to infrared, so I don't expect that can really 'see' simply hot air with *any* civilian model :P
-
You can't see "exhaust trails" with FLIR, unless you're referring to contrails, but that's specifically because clouds (condensed water) are visible in IR. Under 'normal' conditions, aircraft exhaust (or any kind of extremely hot gas) can sometimes appear 'bright' in the area immediately behind the exhaust, but otherwise looks exactly like hot gasses do in visible light - rippling of the air and such. There's no big visible hot trail of gas or clouds of heat that you can see on FLIR. Certainly seeing 'rising heat' from people on the ground is impossible and really the only way that could have happened was if it was extremely cold, they were extremely hot, and were creating clouds of condensate from their bodies. Otherwise, doesn't happen. If FLIR and thermal imaging would show temperature differentials of only a few degrees in open air, you wouldn't see anything through FLIR at all. Oh, and afterburner in FLIR looks exactly like you'd expect. Up close (less than 0.5 nm) it's so hot from an F-15E -229 that it washes out the aperture. For the future, can you people actually specify what kind of thermal imaging system you've used, under what conditions you used it, and if you're certain it actually applies to the A-10? Because I'm fairly certain I'm the only forum-goer around here with real-life LANTIRN / LITENING / SNIPER XR pod experience. Not all FLIR is created equal. Highly sensitive cameras can see a single thumbprint for minutes after it was pressed on something for only a second, but these are not the imagers aircraft use, because such a system would be so drowned in noise it would be useless. You cannot see footprints of people walking by using any of the three series of pods above, because they aren't that sensitive by specific design. Saying that implementing it would be realistic belies your lack of actual knowledge on the subject and, worse, really cheeses me off.
-
Huh, I'm actually disappointed they haven't made it so the max resolution of the pod screen is 512 - or make it fuzzier like it should be. Using the pod with screens set to 1024 is plain cheating. 512 is a bit more realistic, though sometimes still too sharp (it's honestly hard to tell if it's because of that or just because the FLIR modeling is weaksauce). 256 though is way too fuzzy.

Well, since the next DCS is, regardless of airframe, going to be something with an AAI system, maybe ED will surprise us and got a workable solution :] Here's hoping.

Awww :( I've always sort of liked them. They're ugly, they're smelly, they're old and decrepit, but there's a certain charm there... kind of like the F-4. Also they're the dirtiest damn things I've ever seen :P I tried to zap one of the Bundeswehr's but couldn't even find a place clean enough to get the damn sticker to stay on :D -
