Duke you are so on the money! I LOVE them! I usally take Rockets with me for the practice ya know! In the last few missions I have replaced them with Mk82 Airs. I like the airs because you can have them through out the rack. There is nothing finer then coming in hot and low and dropping one right on a turret! I love it!

Well my logbook says I have broke 40 hours in the Sim and I have not even tried certain aspects to it yet. I can only imagine the hours some of the Beta Testers have. Those 40 hours to me felt quick and not enough to do all I want in this sim. I have mostly flown button masher missions. I saw that expression posted here in the forum. Oh well to each their own. DCS: A10C will fill the needs of many a Flight Sim addict. There are so many aspects to A10. You can be the infamous dark Reaper that fly's above and chooses his souls without a whisper, or you can be the gunfighter in the street....mano el' mano! Like I stated I have rang up those 40 hours doing mostly rock tossing missions. Those in close scenario's. I fly the damn thing like a P-47 coming in low, guns a blazing. You know of what I speak. That less then a thousand feet off the deck, target is a less then a 2 miles out, and he has got you zeroed. You pull into a hard banking turn trying not to drop a wing, fighting to put your pipper on him and the window is closing fast. Then you put that dot on him and grab for first trigger stage, you hold your breath and pull second stage, then....... BRAHHHHHHHHHH!!! He's SMOKED!!!!! You pop flares and chaff, grabbing for air, looking over your shoulder for that POP! .......it is so satisfying! I giggle like a little girl every time I do it! The other big thing that does it for me in this Sim is the Damage Modeling. It is so amazing how far it has come along. If the real A10 holds up as well as the one in the Sim, then it is one tough little bastard. Up until the last few flight sims, if you got hit you were dead. I have flown the A10C home on one engine, with missing limbs, everything in the cockpit dead, just you, the throttle and the stick. I have even dead sticked it to the tarmac. Shot up wing running out fuel on approach. We know why that happens and that's because you are still able to fly while on target. You know after you drop your heavy stuff you get down to do your first gun run now there is no weight left on the wings. You are free to kill at will. You arm the gun and draw a bead on some poor BMP and he tags and engine, but you stay on target because you got 500 rounds and 3 soft targets left. Yeah 40 hours just isn't gonna be enough!

A10C IVS (Instructional Video Series) - by Tyger
Greb replied to Heli Shed's topic in Screenshots and Videos
I've watched them all Tyger! Very helpful and very well taught. Simple, to the point and no forgotten keystrokes and well put together. Entertaining as well as instructional! Looking forward to more! -
You are so right there Headspace! I was speaking on the software side but, yeah good point! I had to swap a motherboard out on a computer at a hippie commune once. When I popped the case the hardware, fans, and the entire case was so covered in dust you couldn't see the circuitry or the labels! That poor computer was running so hot for so long it gave up the ghost!

Great Post Succellus! I find people want to upgrade but don't know where to start. First thing I ask people when building or upgrading. What do you want it to do? Do you want to read email and cruise the web, or do you want to run the latest sim or CAD program full bore. I always tell people build to what you need. Don't buy into future speculation of what you may need or want because the market changes so fast. Don't buy an overkill piece of hardware, or expect the latest and greatest piece of hardware is the one thing to you need unleash the HAL in your desktop PC! To Add! the biggest thing I see in the field, is lack of maintenance! You change the oil in your car, you have to keep your computer clean. MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE......and don't forget the MAINTENANCE!

Give it shot Keith!

You nailed it Grimes! Don't get me wrong I love the Tech Bombs and I am glad we have them for our real Pilots and Planes, but I like to be aggressive. Gunfighter in the Street kind of thing. You may walk away beaten up, or even wind dead, but if you want to return to base ....you're gonna earn it! Plus they are just damn fun! Good to get aggression out! I got some more like this I am working on but with some SAM's tossed in.

Column Hunt! Got some surprises! Great for honing your Bomb, Rocket, and Gun skills! You get 6 Mav's....you'll use them. No Smart Bombs! You are gonna be throwing Rocks after the Mav's! Just the way I like it! A10A Remembered2.zip

Sniper what joystick are you using? Mine has a two position trigger. Press half way locks the gun and it sticks to target, pull all the way and the gun fires. Be switched to Gunpac for that option. Location of rounds shot plays a part. Rear and sides are weaker then front on tanks. I try to come in at 2000 feet and drop on Target. Here's a trick! When you come in on target hit the Autopilot switch, making sure first it is set in path mode. Let the plane trim out for a second and then turn off the Autopilot and the plane is trimmed to your gunsight! Less movement when in close! It will also keep you from dropping a wing when you pull out hard close to the ground. She'll bounce back easier if she is trimmed into the run! MOST of all it takes a lot of practice. Just keep shooting and stay on your perch!

Very Nice way of putting it! Tanks in 10c seem a bit tougher, but at least you get round ground impact with 30mm!

Yeah its even more intense in the C! I have this mission for FC2 if any want it. It's my favorite to fly. You gonna be a button pushing monkey! Mission of above is for DCS A10C just in case ya missed it!

So I am reading up on Smart Bombs...Laser Guided this and radar dropping that. Watched a couple of vids on You Tube. Was kind of getting it down in between the yawning. I started thinking about the A model. Yeah she was Disco like the 70's and all but flying her is like getting in a knife fight in a phone booth. Yeah the Mav's were still there, but you had to get low and dirty with your General Purpose weapons. So I decided to create a mission in memory of the ol' Girl! Take off from Runway right on the coastline. You are carrying a lot of ordinance and will take the whole runway to get to speed. I use steer 2 to get speed, Steer 3 to get altitude and 4 to setup run. If you follow your waypoints you will get right to heart of battle. I grab for air just before end of way 3 and turn into 4 at 5 thousand. You get 2 Mavs so use them wisely. There are some surprises so don't get slack. I use Mav's headed in. If I don't get the second one off I skip it and go to Bombs. The combat zone is large and there is a lot of fighting going on below USA forces against Russians. Americans hold the South and Russians hold the north. Lots of tanks and surprises. This is old school A model fighting so you have to get in low and dirty. You can use labels to see the line in the sand, but I would only use it for reference, much easier to target without them. Lots of smoke and rounds going off. You will see it before you get there. Try not to get lost in the show. Although its cool to see the fight and then see your wingy working targets, there is stuff that can bite ya if ya aint looking! Good Luck! .....u gonna need it! Edit: Listing a Lite version. Some may find trouble running all that on that map. I cut the forces in half. Also added a few pics from mission, give ya layout of the area. Then on the Tarmac.....She is just SOOOO Pretty in Green! A10A Remembered.zip A10A Rememberedlite.zip

Running a Duo Core E5400 2.7 Ghz overclocked to 3.7 Ghz, 4gigs of DDR3 at 1066, GTS 450 w/1 gig of DDR5. Running at 1680x1050...highest my LCD will go. All in game settings to Max. I get 25 to 30 on the ground and 35 to 45 in air depending on terrain, city and what not. FPS drop or large delays and stutters when Smoke is visible or doing quick descents. The biggest FPS killers on my rig seems to be burning vehicles, and the flood lights in cockpit. The green floodlight robs me or 8 to 10 frames a sec

Great Stuff. Thanks a ton!

Money is a little tight right now, but Trackir is next on my list. It will be a must for this sim. Everytime I see a vid with trackir I have to grit my teeth! The thumb and hat switch technique is getting pretty old!

Yeah great work lucky! I love that map for night missions. There is nothing like touching down at Nellis about 15 minutes after dusk!
