  1. Yeah I noticed that too. It looks like it has been patched up pretty good. Wonder if it was from the latest conflict with Georgia? Lots of Helos sitting around and a lot of Frogs too! .....love the Frog!
  2. Yeah I just checked those out! Sorry spelling again Tribis?? three main airstrips the large one to the east is really bad off. The blocks that make up the runway and the taxi areas are starting to separate. The one to the south you can see a group of cars and guys standing around like a car show or something. To bad about Novorossiysk....it's my favorite strip!
  3. Apologize if this has been posted before! Check out Google maps and look at the airfields that are in the Sim. Development in these areas are fascinating. Novoryssysk (spelling?) looks like it is now a apartment or shopping complex. Some of the Airfields are totally abandoned and overgrown with vegetation. Kind of makes ya sad! LOL!! Check it out!
  4. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
  5. It's flights Sims or Harley Parts. Flight sims are cheaper. Been married for 21 years...my wife can't turn a computer on. I think she figures if I'm at the house playing on the computer I won't be off somewhere else.

I have to agree with Bubb! I like the F16 and I think it would be fun to fly in. I flew a lot of Falcon back in the day. It has been done to death but not to the degree ED and DCS and can do it. It is a multi role and it would drag the falcon crowd to the table. It just makes sense!
  7. That's a good Point Trident! I think it may be a time and money issue. I have know idea how large their team is and what not. It may have took all they had to give us the latest aircraft, plus they do military contracts so who knows how much they can devote to commercial products. There are slight improvements to the current build but its still that same foundation. NOT knocking it just it's easier to improve on an existing build, money and time wise.
  8. Lot of good post on this matter. It's a balance I think. Lots of factors play into it. I mean I would love to see a lot of visual terrain and affects improved but at the cost of waiting years, (e.g. BOB SOW), starting from scratch in a different engine. I think ED made the right choice. When you don't have the pockets of EA, and a small market niche ,then you have to pick your battles. Think about it fellas. All the realism you are getting in this sim. TGP, Mav's, Flight Model, Nav systems, SAS Systems, HUD and all that incorporates. Just read the manual on CDU operation. You won't find anything like that in Black Op's. I know two different sims, but you are getting realism over Visual. The programming for all that to work and give you decent graphics....it must be mind boggling! Am I tired of the Crim, Explosions, Smoke, Fire, etc? Hell yes but I understand why they did what they did. It would take years and tons of money to start over and then add the realism of whatever Aircraft that is being highlighted. Well you can imagine time frame and money. All in all for us hardcore junkies its a masterpiece. It's a preview of whats to come in the next 3 to 5 years. If they can do this with the A10 then imagine what's next, Aircraft and Terrain. We have to support it though. If we don't buy what's on the table then it dries up. I for one am glad to be flying the Hog. It's a preview of what's next. Now let's talk about what's next! Terrain fellas. No matter any way you look at it you have to move on to a more advanced engine. This one was good but it's tired and you have to move on to something that utilizes the advancement of current Hardware. I would get your Nellis map out and any small improvements you can. This theater and engine is worth another Aircraft, but I would in that time have a team or what not start moving you to the next engine. Preferably a current theater. I am in no way trying to tell you your business but it only makes sense. Don't fret ED, if you build it ....they will come! All that being said and with only criticism from the heart I say the new A10C is a total masterpiece and I am in total awe! I say Gosh Damn the PUSHERMAN! on the A10C!
  9. Great stuff Boomer.....very well put together!
  10. Learn the hard way this weekend! I finally broke down and tossed 140 bucks towards a new TrackIR 5. I got it in the mail on Friday and spent all Friday night and Saturday trying to calibrate it. I kept getting weird jerks and spins. I thought OH NO!!! What a waste of cash! I finally zoomed in on the Camera view and noticed I had red dots. I was getting a reflection from a poster that is hung directly in line with my monitor. I also found that smoking a cigarette will cause it to go hay wire. I grabbed Matt's profile and spent hours playing around with the software and I tell ya fellas.....BEST 140 bucks I ever spent......well after DCS:WH that is! It takes a lot of getting used too, but once you get the movement down there is no going back. After 20 years of flight sims I no longer have to use that damn hat switch....and it only took two days for my thumb to stop looking for it. Was up until 4 am this Sunday morning flying around in awe. A total must for flight sims I tell ya!
  11. I sure hope it does! Just ordered one yesterday afternoon. Should have it next week sometime. I ordered the TrackIR 5. I have been flight simming for years and have used a hatch switch. I am hoping the TrackIr will take it to another level. I would be happy to just be able to look over my shoulder and see the engines start, or be able to get to the switches in front of the Stick. HELL I would like to be able to see the Nav board without having to quickly throw the stick into a left or right bank to see if my Tacan or Steerpoint is engaged!
  12. Some of us that are not fortunate to have TRACKIR yet may be having some defualt view issue. I found that the default head tilted down angle a bit to much and the zoom out was limited. Someone posted a setting for the the SnapViewsDefault.lua. This helped a lot with being able to zoom out a bit farther. It gives more of a old style LOMAC view. The problem is by messing with the FOV angle in the SnapVeiwsDefault.lua file you widen the the HUD Symbols and you would lose a large portion of HUD view. For me the Depression Pipper was not in view at all. So I did a little trial and error. I was able to able to obtain a straight on view with the ability to zoom out and not lose, or distort the HUD view. This will help a lot with keeping the Gun Pipper from crawling over the top of the HUG view range. You will need to adjust your SnapViewsDefault.lua located in the :\..... Eagle Dynamics\DCS A10C Beta\Config\View... then to the SnapViewsDefault.lua file. Open the file using notepad and scroll to the bottom to Snap[11][13] = {} line and change to the following, copy and paste the whole block or change the number in Red: Snap[11][13] = {} Snap[11][13]["y_trans"] = -0.0468 Snap[11][13]["x_trans"] = 0.36 Snap[11][13]["hAngle"] = 0 Snap[11][13]["viewAngle"] = 83.0 Snap[11][13]["vAngle"] = -15 Snap[11][13]["rollAngle"] = 0 Snap[11][13]["z_trans"] = 0 Now to correct the zoom view you will need to increase the zoom view in the View.lua file located in the same View folder as the SnapViewsDefault.lua. Scroll down to the Camera View Angle limits and change the A10C setting from 120 to 130 Example: CameraViewAngleLimits = {} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_27] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_33] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_25] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_25T] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[MiG_29] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[MIG_29K] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[F_15] = {20.0, 140.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[A_10A] = {20.0, 140.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[KA_50] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[A_10C] = {20.0, 130.0} This will give you a pretty much straight on view and not oversize the HUD. See the Photo's. I have it set up pretty much so the HUD symbols are centered and there is no need to make a seat adjustment.
  13. I know just what ya mean StrongHarm! It seems every time I boot it up something new just grabs me!
  14. Yeah you nailed ryuzu! It does do that. I have some favorite places on the map usually just off the water. I normally load enough weapons for the Targets I set up for myself and a wingy and you got to force him to use his weapons!
  15. I was just thinking about some you folks having FPS probs. Make sure you are not running high end Missions with higher water or weather settings. You got to remember that it is a Beta and all the kinks aren't workout yet. I have flown it a lot and here are my observations for getting a favorable experience in the Sim. Try to stay away from the Campaigns and the Mission Generator. The Mission Gen tosses you 10 aircraft and 50 ground units. Nothing is gonna run smooth in that mission at this time of development. Find yourself a flat ground area, low rural. Keep the weather settings mild or clear and keep the sun high in order to keep your shadow down. Try and keep your vehicle count down to 20 or 30, even less is better. Take wingy and go make boom-boom! It has given me great results. Try and use the Airfields off the water and place your enemy units on roads moving 20 to 50 K's and stagger them. Put 2 miles between groups. It will keep distance loading to a minimal and give you turn around time. Also try and take out your first target at a high altitude or at a great distance. This will load fire and explosion and it will keep the stutter down on later Gun runs and what not. Try it! I think you will enjoy the sim much more .....IMHO! :)
  16. Frames not to bad! I average 15 to 20 flying at crow level! Some air shots of Vegas and surrounding hoods!
  17. View.Lua file Should look like this! It was changed in Beta I think! Camera view angle limits {view angle min, view angle max}. CameraViewAngleLimits = {} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_27] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_33] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_25] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[su_25T] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[MiG_29] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[MIG_29K] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[F_15] = {20.0, 140.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[A_10A] = {20.0, 140.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[KA_50] = {20.0, 120.0} CameraViewAngleLimits[A_10C] = {20.0, 120.0} c:\......\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A10c Beta\Config\view Had the same problem! Just change the A10 line back to the default of {20.0, 120.0} Granted any track or what not you saved in the fish eye will stay that way. Track records all settings at time of play!
  18. Great Post Grimes! It truly is the heart of the Sim.

    40 Plus!

Yeah Neptune! I use them because you can lace the entire wing with them. The Standard 82 wont go on the outer Rack! Just a bigger bag of rocks!

    40 Plus!

So right! I have the recover option on in my missions. It makes it easier then starting over when you totally screw up. That way you can keep practicing and don't have to back out of the game, but yeah you could spend hours in one target area!
