DCS World at Wings Over the Rockies in Denver
DaddySchlich replied to DaddySchlich's topic in Chit-Chat
DCS World at Wings Over the Rockies in Denver Maybe I've been missing one of the points here. The fellow in the museum manning the flight sims talked to me about their contract with ED and working with ED. And the first computer screen I saw was a familiar DCWorld screen. -
DCS World at Wings Over the Rockies in Denver
DaddySchlich replied to DaddySchlich's topic in Chit-Chat
Yes, Radbes, that is the setup I encountered. I can't explain the reference to WW1 planes. I was so struck by their having DCS up and running that I didn't think to ask all the questions I might have. I still can't find any reference to this on the Museum website. I sent them a congratulatory/ chiding email for having (but not mentioning) the DCS setup. I have not received a reply. -
My wife and I were visiting Colorado earlier this month, and I dragged her to the Wings Over the Rockies Museum in Denver. They had a flight simulator corner marked on the map of the museum, and I was expecting the simplistic flight simulators - often carnival type rides - I've so often found in air/space museums. Imagine my surprise to find DCS World with many of the modules, available in multiple cockpits with close-to-180-degree wrap-around screens. Apparently, this is relatively recent install and it is still a WIP in certain respects. I was told that the museum was working with ED in setting this up on a network. Surprised not to have seen any reference to this in the forums - and wanted to send my congrats to both ED and the museum in getting this set up. Really wonderful! Daddy Schlich

I have a MS FFB2. For helicopters, it makes all the difference to me. I'm not aware of any FFB rudder pedals

How do you recommend setting the collective curves for the Huey? Thanks so much.

Suggestion: Make a gift certificate available in the store!

Agree on the benefits of a gift certificate. Much nicer than just asking for money to spend in the E-Shop here! -

[DCSW: Mi-8MTV2] English Cockpit Mod
DaddySchlich replied to Devrim's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I had the same issue. In looking at my DCSW file structure, I have some files under mods/aircraft, and some under mods/aircrafts (plural). My best guess is that they changed the folder structure with some update, and that the singular "aircraft" is the operative folder now. Is that right? If so, I think I can and should delete everything within the "aircrafts" folder, and check my older mods in JSGME to change the directory. Can someone confirm? Thanks! -
How to unchain the rudder from trim
DaddySchlich replied to PeterP's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just double-checking that this mod is limited to the Ka-50, and does not modify rudder trim operations of the UH-1H and the Mi-8. Thanks! -
Thanks. By looking further in the readme in 1.5.1, I see that while the official version still does not support 64bit application, but the link you sent to the special Boulotaur2024 version supports 64bit even though it's an earlier 1.4 version
-
Version 1.5.1 of SweetFX, posted 9/30/13, says that it works with "almost any 32 bit (and hopefully soon 64bit)" DX9, 10, or 11 game. That led me to wonder whether to try it with the latest update to DCSW 1.2.6 now that it no longer supports 32 bit OS. Should it work? Thanks!
-
Thanks. Not clear why the 1.2.5 changelog suggests otherwise!
-
As far as updating the manual Updated to 1.2.5 beta, I just checked the UH-1H\doc folder. The Flight Manual's date is 5/24 and the readme and QuickStart guide are both dated 5/1. Are those really the "updated" versions? Just checking. Thanks!

View issues controlling guns
DaddySchlich replied to Vintovka's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Hi, The precision mode is part of the TrackIR software. But, lennycutler, I'm afraid I don't understand the interplay of the TrackIR precision mode and the middle-mouse-button pause that you appear to be using. Do you use both? Thanks. -
In fact, just checked and the description by Wags of the latest update (DCS ver. 1.2.4.12913.167 Update) says that the ATC radio issues in the P-51D were fixed in the update.
-
fwiw, for the Lochini quick-start mission, version 1.2.4 had cut me off from ATC communication. With the latest update of 1.2.4, however, changing to the B channel puts me in touch with ATC. Maybe that's the issue you're having.

Radio Communications in 1.2.4 P-51D Lochini Instant Action?
DaddySchlich replied to DaddySchlich's topic in General Questions
fwiw, I was able to reach ATC using the latest version of 1.2.4 by choosing Channel B in the Mustang in this mission. I believe I had tried that before with an earlier version of 1.2.4. But the important thing is that it's working now! -
Hi, radio communications in the Final Approach Lochini Instant Action mission in 1.2.4 appears to have changed from 1.2.3. While I had been able before to raise the airfield for the final approach, I can no longer do so. Easy Communications brings up nothing; unclicking Easy Communications in Options allows me to bring up Function key options but not ATC. Am I doing something wrong? What has changed? Thanks, DaddySchlich

how to enable walking pilot in SP
DaddySchlich replied to DaddySchlich's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Thanks. The use of joystick and pedals solved the mystery. I knew it had to be something, but couldn't find the reference. I popped out at the beginning of a cold start mission and things worked just fine. any way to pop back into the P-51D, and start up?? -
Hi, probably a simple answer, but how do you enable a walking pilot in single player? If I land, roll back the canopy, and then hit the eject keys, the pilot ends up walking on the wing, but no combination of cursor keys sets him walking off the wing and away from the plane. A forum search didn't reveal the answer. Help please?

Hi, About to hit the road for 2 1/2 weeks with my laptop and limited space. What's the simplest joystick/gamepad that might make DCSW playable?? Or should I just reconcile myself to not playing?? Thanks! Daddy Schlich

FYI, when I tried to use Ricardo's HD cockpit along with this 6DOF fix that there were definitely more issues of "black" spaces inside the cockpit. I guest I shouldn't be surprised. I looked for, but haven't found, an alternate 6DOF set of parameters that make the two work together. I'm afraid I don't what to change, and by how much, to make this work. Thanks.

How to unchain the rudder from trim
DaddySchlich replied to PeterP's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
PeterP, thanks so much for scripting this inside DCS World. I wanted to make sure I understood the install instructions. I think I do, but wanted to double-check. Basically, you're replacing two .lua files in the DCSW 1.2.0 install with the two files in the "contend in DCS World 1.2.0" directory tree in the .zip file. The two files in the "Backup" tree are the original .lua files without your script. Do I have that right? Thanks again, Daddy Schlich -
Microsoft FFB2 joystick buying advice
DaddySchlich replied to DaddySchlich's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi - Thanks for the follow-up. Yes, I've been very pleased with the second hand FBB2 - although I must admit I've strayed from playing on a regular basis. I did figure out that the pushback I was getting when hitting the Trim key was from the Autopilot axes - turning off all the little blue lights by my right leg made it all go away! Your track helped me figure that out. I've not yet tried your tips for unchaining the trim and my non-FFB pedals. I do have RCtrl-Enter diagram up to tell me where the pedals think they are. And I've not yet tried to use the throttle from the X45 to model the buttons found on the collective to go with the FFB2. Before the FFB2, I had done a pretty satisfactory job of putting the buttons and switches on the collective the stick on my X45 throttle and stick. Of course, recently I've downloaded DCS World 1.2.0 and the BS2 module. I haven't tried to transfer anything there yet, though I've successfully put myself in the cockpit in a mission, so I know I've installed it correctly. Again, thanks for your help. I have followed your efforts making DCS aircraft more accessible for others. Much appreciated. Daddy Schlich -
