so I tried it again, no TIR problems for an hour running surrounded- must have been an honest to god glitch as it did not occur again. Btw, does anyone know how long the warranty is for the TIR5? The pluggable powered hub comes today, so that should let me test if the stick is drawing too much power or is defective. Hopefully, you'll be on at the same time as me Jeff, so we can discuss this problem real-time. The hub should be here in a couple hours, until then I'll test TIR again. Any idea what could have caused the red lighting (anyone)?
-
so check this. I was trying tir without the belkin- just my USB port, it was almost an hour into it, and I all of a sudden get two red lights- indicated a malfunction with the TIR. I believe this again to be a power issue- the pluggable hub from Amazon coming tomorrow should help. Thoughts on this, Jeff?

Hey Jeff, just tested autopilot in Surrounded for over an hour- no problelms or BSOD. Test was performed without the saitek jacked in or the trackir. So I think the problem is either with the power voltage (in which case the hub coming tomorrow should help) or the stick itself. I'm going out to lunich/dinner right now, but I'll be back later, hopefully we can puzzle this out.
-
One other thought occurred to me- I don't believe I've ever had this BSOD independent of some interaction with the saitek- it always happens when it is jacked in or shortly after or when I tried to open the SST profiling software to see if there was a problem with the profile (the mic switch issue). I had the laptop on all day yesterday, no stick, no BSOD. I can run lots of graphically advanced games- ex. the witcher 2, starcraft ii, shogun ii, arma ii, etc without this occuriing.

As to your questions. 1. just got the stick a couple weeks ago when I was getting into A-10- I had ordered a defective thrustmaster hotas x and returned it and replaced it with my saitek x52 nonpro model. 2. Unfortunately I'm the only simmer I know personally, so I can't borrow a stick to test. 3. However, I noticed during navigation training that I couldn't get the mic switch up to work to call Batumi airbase. (I'm using SF Jack Bauer's profile- maybe I just don't know how to switch between the different functions). Do you switch modes or do you hold down the pinky button?
-
Hey Jeff, Looking at it, yep I kinda exploded. Sorry about that. I ordered one more USB from amazon- 5 star reviews 185 out of 204- the belkin just was way to small and did not supply adequate power- so hopefully the large box coming tomorrow will help. When I plugged in the saitek to the belkin, I immediately had to reset my USB ports because of a power surge. I will get to my laptop and try it soon- can you tell me how to put it in autopilot? I'm confused about what you want me to do. I should run autopilot with the saitek OUT of the usb port? How will this let us know if the stick is fcked or drawing too much power?
-
and of course there is NOBDOY on this thread today...I mean I've been working on this for days- I just want to be able to enjoy the software. I've invested in a new pc, a new joystick, trackir, and now an external USB hub. I just... I really don't know... If somebody who uses an external USB hub and a saitek x52 nonpro, please tell me what you use

Hey everybody, Checking in for the first time today- gonna go to best buy for sure- can anyone reccomend a REALLY good quality hub that is normally stocked by Best Buy? It would really help me out. Haven't had the chance to try ARMA with the autopilot on immediately yet Jeff- just got on my laptop now. Just gonna do some research on Best Buy for a little bit- hopefully somebody can kick me a good suggestion.

for some reason I could not get the switches to perform their second function- I was doing navigation training and needed to call Batumi Airbase and could not get the mic switch to function. Is it the pinky switch to shift modes or am I doing something wrong (or perhaps this is an indication that an external USB is needed).
