  1. IMO the only real bug with the CBU97 is that the Skeets aren't tracking moving vehicles. Instead, they track to where the vehicle was at the point in time when the skeet launches, but by the time the skeet arrives it is behind the actual vehicle. Its a bigger problem with moving tanks/apcs than trucks. Realistic or not? I dunno, im sure the cessna drivers will tell us.
  2. A-10 bug: In multiplayer, a pilot who jettisons an external centerline fuel tank will still appear to other players as having the tank attached.
  3. Funny how everyone says you're looney and "omg my RL C172 that I flew once takes like 13k ft to stop so the A10 should too" - then you come back a few months later and see this.
  4. You can interrupt the repair process by starting an engine when the doors are open, and they will stay open after that.
  5. None of my loadouts modify the hardpoints to carry anything outside of what ed programed as possible. The most mavs one can carry is 6, not four dozen. The lack of ability to fully customize our loadouts in this game has made me of the opinion that its better to bring everything u can and jettison what you dont want. I created this to share with people who dont know how to create their own, or dont want to put the time in. If you worry about burning your non burnable tire then download the oter guy's file. I will point out that i am not trolling his thread convincing people that my ideas are better..
  6. That didn't take long. You're kidding yourself if you think this game is realistic. It's a step in that direction, but its still a game. It might be the highest fidelity flight sim out there, which is the case IMO, but it isn't real. They haven't modelled mav burns. They haven't modelled gear overspeed... You can stress about the third mav burning your imaginary gear, i on the other hand will be using it to blow things up.
  7. I've created a custom loadout file to share with anyone who wants to have what I feel are more effective loadouts in the multiplayer missions. If you enjoy empty hardpoints then this file is not for you. To install: 1) Navigate C:\programfiles\eagledynamics\dcsa10c\missioneditor\data\scripts 2) BACKUP THE ORIGINAL unitpayloads.lua into a new folder - or on your desktop somewhere you wont lose it. 3) Download unitpayloads.lua here: http://www.mediafire.com/?1hzf86kf85t6qkz 10) Replace (overwrite) the old unitpayloads.lua with the one you downloaded. If you follow these steps you will be able to have these loadouts in multiplayer missions. I went through the whole list of 52 default loadouts and reworked them to more potent. I make no claims as to the realism of these loadouts, please do not fill this thread with "IRL us super cessna pilots dont carry 3 mavs per launcher" .. Tell ED about that please, not me. You can create your own through the processes outlined in this and other threads. I have filled every hardpoint on every loadout. Centerline drop tanks are included on every load out. You can SJET drop them once gear and flaps are retracted if you don't want to carry them. My favorite is anti-armor 6.7 btw.. Enjoy!
  8. --deleted-- (wrong thread)
  9. Fwiw the cannon is hydraulicly spun, so if you had an issue causing lower than normal hydraulic pressure you would see a slower rate of fire.
  10. Multiplayer servers are currently run by people and often get closed mid-game or left to run for 3 days after the mission is completed. IMO the DCS series is very fun in a multiplayer setting as long as the missions are kept fresh and the servers stay up. Obviously nothing is free, but what about just one official Eagle Dynamics multiplayer server? Its certainly been done before in dozens of other multiplayer games, and IMO would motivate more people to get their friends to play DCS as well (read: more sales).
  11. why is this still sticky? How 'bout we remove the old and make way for new.
  12. No guns no fun.
  13. anti-skid off for shorter braking distances.
  14. If its a real emergency you just frickin land.
  15. old thread, just wanted to update it with accurate info for researchers: dcs a-10c and dcs bs2 in 1920x1080 high settings both use 1.8~2.2gb of Vram on cards with >=2gb vram capacity.
  16. I've always thought that the stopping ability of the a-10 in this sim was inaccurate. Whether due to insufficient friction on runways/taxiways or lack of braking power I don't know - they both have the same effect as far as the operator is concerned. I think if you assume that our pilot is applying "normal" braking pressure when we are holding [w] then yea, its accurate.. But max braking pressure should really be more effective I would think?? Never flown the a-10 but I would expect most 40-50k lb jet aircraft to stop in about 4000 ft with wheel brakes and spoilers/air brakes. The normal landing distance in this sim seems more like 6000-8000ft, and that's coming in at 140kias.
  17. Dont get discouraged. The stick you are using is good enough to complete most tasks with. Hotas setups really do contribute to immersion but i have found after playing with a x52 hotas i prefer the simple stick setup that im currently using. Imo the most important thing with your stick is the calibration settings to include deadzone and sensitivity.
  18. Hey ED how about modelling the external fuel tanks igniting into a ball of fire when jettisoned with fuel remaining? :pilotfly: Seems realistic enough, and discourages people such as myself from jettisoning tanks over populated areas.
  19. Agiel I have noticed exactly what you are speaking of. The CBU-97 (and 105) in the current model travel down to the target in a traditional ballistic arc. If they were mk-82's they'd hit dead on, but since this new parachute bomblet model came out the immediate decrease in projectile speed due to the parachuting model causes the bomblets to fall short of the target. The higher the HOF, the further you end up from target. I have found that the only solution is to predict this behavior and aim just beyond your target from your relative approach path.. This is most easily done when you are directly inbound to the target, just slew up a bit beyond it and give that a try.
  20. Hey Blizz valid point you make actually.. I always see people in multiplayer waiting for their alignments on the ground, but I do not think it is necessary.. Fact is if you are quick enough at getting your switches done, you can have both engines running and be ready for taxi at about 1.3-1.5 minutes after your apu gen comes online. All you do is start taxiing after the clock gets to >1.4 minutes on the IRU and it will switch to nav mode automatically. It counts as an "in flight align" even though it was done on the ground. What benefit do you get from the additional 2.5 minutes of sitting around? In the sim, I can't find one. I think IRL it would be a smart thing to complete the full alignment, but in the sim it seems to have zero effect.
  21. I purchased the BS2 upgrade, and I no longer have BS1 installed. In order to save myself a bit of time, can I just download and install the BS2 (full, not upgrade) client, then use my BS2 upgrade key to unlock it?
  22. LoL.. You say im wrong then you go and say exactly what I said with different words. Get a clue dude. It is outside of the IR spectrum, a spectrum is defined as: an array of entities, as light waves or particles, ordered in accordance with the magnitudes of a common physical property, as wavelength or mass: often the band of colors produced when sunlight is passed through a prism, comprising red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. So in essence what you're saying is that because I said a yellow light is not blue I am wrong because the yellow light is still visible light. You sir, are the one who needs a clue.
  23. for awesome fun try shining the ir beam at a buddy's cockpit while he is using nvg at night
  24. The TGP laser emits energy outside of the IR spectrum. The IR beam from the TGP on the other hand is visible with nvg.
