Is this (Nevada Map) going to set a standard for other (3rd party) maps, like DCS: A-10C Warthog which set a standard for other (3rd party) modules?
-
Come on guys, we need something new!
-
Instead of having Game Mode, I wish DCS World had some Reality Options or Difficulty Options (like other flight simulations) to change a DCS level module to a FC level module for those who prefer simpler modules!
-
It seems they've already decided what to do! I don't mind spending 199.99$ for a smooth, sophisticated, contemporary (64 bit, multi CPU-GPU, DirectX 11) simulation platform running different kinds of modules from submarines to satellites!
-
Since every module has to operate in DCS World, it is minor in contrast to the simulation engine itself! I personally stopped buying other modules, even 3rd party ones, to see if new engine brings us smooth experience.
-
As I was reading this article, I noticed two things, new Image Generator, and auto-updater (would be great)! I was wondering what the function of IG would be, and is it a part of new terrain engine? If this is a new part, I hope It'll have its own running thread, and we eventually end up with true multitask platform! Anyway, now that Microsoft Flight project has been cancelled, and lots of 3rd party modules coming to DCS platform, it'd be good for ED to stop some other minor projects and release all of its resources for making smooth, sophisticated, contemporary (64 bit, multi CPU-GPU, DirectX 11) simulation engine.
-
Wouldn't it be great if ED left Ubi with its LockOn series, and released DCS: F-15C Eagle? This way, we didn't have to install legacy LockOn: Modern Air Combat, and ED had enough time to finish one high-fidelity aircraft, instead of a bunch of mid-fidelity birds!
-
Do we have the ability to buy only one aircraft from the collection? I just care about F-15C Eagle, so, I have to install all other aircrafts?
-
Now that it's free (and we all know about the benefits of being open source), wouldn't it be great to take advantage of the community to build a smooth, sophisticated, contemporary simulation environment by making it open source? :) This is like Linux Operating System, which the Kernel itself is free, and open source, but the modules (applications) are not!
-
There is no other flight simulation engine, which has Game Mode! All they have are options for reality settings. As I said: Another important thing you should consider is the amount of time that it takes (especially from 3rd party developers) to make Game Mode for a module? They could easily save their time to make higher fidelity modules! And for kids, there are plenty of games they can play to prepare for real world simulation environment (DCS)!
-
I think this thread should be retitled to "Module Fidelity", and moved to a more generic place, "Third Party Projects" sub-forum for instance. The result of this poll is not just for IRIS, all other 3rd party developers should know what will happen if they make arcade modules (something like Microsoft Flight)! Our community motto is: "In Super High-Fidelity we trust."
-
http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield4 Seriously, how many of you guys would be loyal to ED if it came with DCS: F/A-18E Super Hornet? I myself prefer DCS: F/A-18E Super Hornet to be included in a serious game, or simulation (ARMA III) rather than a game (Battlefield 4). :)
-
It'd be good to have some 3rd party make ! :D Seriously, rain effects and details of terrain are most needed by DCS World.
-
PhysX, and multitasking (We all know why it'd better support multitasking)! This is an excerpt from Wiki: And of course collision detection, and collision response (especially 3D trees). Anyway, please pay attention to "To whom it may concern" thing! :)
-
To whom it may concern! :D If this new DX11 terrain engin (EDGE) built from scratch, does it support PhysX, and multitasking? :)
-
What about underwater environments, and submarines? Super high fidelity, and AFM are must wanted for every DCS title (even 3rd party products)! :( It's great to get ride of mid fidelity aircrafts, and especially Ubisoft! I'd love to have "The Best Simulation Engine Ever"! :) Lots of things to simulate, lots of interests, lots of customers, lots of in come, and eventually ED can redesign "The Best Simulation Engine Ever" from scratch, without any loss!
-
It is OK to have options like rudders stabilization (or something), to help beginners learn faster! But Game Mode is bothering, and a little confusing (especially key commands assignment beside Sim Mode)! :( After all DCS World is not a game, but simulation platform! :) So, shall we have just one mode?
-
DCS: F-104 StarFighter Perhaps DCS: F-104 StarFighter by 3rd party developer Fighter Combat Simulations, or by 3rd party developer Virtual Patriots! :D It seems lots of 3rd party developers are coming, and we need a strong and robust platform! So, ED please concentrate on DCS World, and make "The Best Simulation Engine Ever". :)
-
Believe me (or not), DCS: F/A-18E Super Hornet is coming by 3rd party developer CoreTex Designs! :music_whistling: First thing every 3rd party developer should know is:
-
ED was founded in 1991, and Flanker (the first product) was released in 1994, so it took almost 3 years to design and implement TFCSE! Was there any product beside so that ED could rely on? But now, ED has something to survive (some products, and of course the community who happily, and proudly support ED). Anyway, ED would vanish either because some other (Russian) companies would come to the PC simulation market (like CSTS Dinamika) with better simulation engine! :( Honesty (and of course civilization) is most appreciated, but you are not supposed to leave comments if you don't understand the subject! :)

FPS has two meanings, First Person Shooter, and Frame Per Second. With the announcement of DCS: Combined Arms, DCS shows that it has the capability of being FPS (First Person Shooter), so it needs ARMA like terrain! But what about another FPS (Frame Per Second), or performance? Once upon a time, when Eagle Dynamics was going to implement Su-27 Flanker, conditions were simple: 1) Solo product 2) No intent to have ARMA like terrain 3) Single core CPU 4) Simple GPU But, nowadays conditions have changed: 1) Modular system 2) FPS capability of DCS World, and need to have ARMA like terrain 3) Multi core CPU 4) Sophisticated GPU Should ED consider redesigning TFCSE from ground up (in parallel to new DCS titles)?

Poor performance with any setting. And request to developers.
jmod replied to jtmedina's topic in Game Performance
Don't get me wrong, but you're talking about TFCSE (a 15-year old game engine, the heart of DCS World), so don't expect too much performance! This is where Outerra has something to say: - Realistic looking terrain with high detail - Fully asynchronous multi-threaded design able to utilize all available CPU cores - Terrain and fractal algorithms running completely on the GPU (releasing CPU for aircraft system) -
Cascade Game Foundry, former ACES Game Studio (and producer of Microsoft Flight Simulator), is starting to gather names and email addresses for external playtesting. If you are interested and willing to sign an NDA, please send mail to info [at] cascadegamefoundry [dot] com

As we all know, any serious game, or simulator, has a game engine! For instance: Battlefield --> Frostbite Crysis --> CryENGINE ARMA --> Real Virtuality What is the DCS World game engine? So, EDGE is just a terrain engine, not a game engine!
-
OMG, I'm getting heart-attack! Why are you doing this to us, ED? Newcomers: DCS: MiG-21Bis (so far, so good) DCS: F-15E Strike Eagle (IRIS, don't forget, you're making for DCS World, not FSX) DCS: Combined Arms DTAC Terrain (should be EDGE compatible) And what else, oh, DCS: P-51D Mustang (damn it)! :D OK, lots of new things, but what about engine itself? High-fidelity aircraft needs high-fidelity environment, and both of them need high performance engine (DX11, and mulit CPU-GPU). :music_whistling: Please make everything perfect! :)
