  1. Mr. Wolf, Can do. Will be uploaded in a moment. Everyone, Thanks for the compliments! Your feedback really helps and it does make a difference when I am creating a new skin set.
  2. Hey everyone, I decided to remake the in game "WA" F-16C skin with the blue camo scheme. It's been tested in v1.02 but not in 1.11 yet. Give it a try! Head over to www.lockonfiles.com to download it! Here's some screens for you: :icon_jook :icon_supe
  3. How's things coming along JJ? Got any renders you wanna share?
  4. No bursting occurred, I've been playing Lomac since the day it was released (and have been creating skins for it ever since). As such, I am well aware of the Western Runways mod and let me say that it is a beautiful skin set and original idea. I created my runway textures based on images of what US airbases (in roughly the same Latitude as the Crimean) looked like in the mid 80's - early 90's (the same time period as Lomac is supposedly set). The more choices for the community - the better! I've completed the taxiway textures and I am moving on to the parking textures etc. They will be included in the next release. Here are screens for you: My High Res C17 and reworked Elmendorf AFB Alaska F15 skin (not yet released) with new taxiways visible: :icon_jook
  5. Hey everyone, go to www.lockonfiles.com and give my latest skin a try. From the readme: This is a skin set I made in order to make the runways look even better. It is based on real world satellite photos of different US airbases. Due to the limitations of LockOn, some of the markings are not 100% accurate. Before you ask, the yellow circles are for emergency arresting cables. Anyways, if you modify the texture set and release it, please be sure to credit me in your README text file. Do not use this set in a commercial product without my permission. If you don't like it, uninstall it ;) It is designed for 1.02 but should also work in 1.11 - if not then I'll make a release just for 1.11 :icon_jook :icon_supe
  6. Hey Alfa, I have been learning 3dsmax for a little while. I would recommend going to your local library and search for books on 3dsmax there. I have found a few that have helped. Also, check on amazon.com for used books (cheap!) covering the subject. I recently purchased a used book called "Advanced Modeling in 3ds max 5" for $8 delivered to my door. There are also numerous online resources like 3dcafe.com. Just try google. Overall, my best advice would be to get yourself a book on the fundamentals of 3dsmax so that you learn exactly what each tool is used for and when it is best to use it. Also, don't forget that modeling an aircraft is a very daunting task (for a very high quality model) and can be very time consuming. That being said, it can also be very rewarding to see your finished model - knowing that you can animate it, rotate it, etc even put it into a game. You'll most likely need to learn to make textures (skins) for your model too. Anyways, I recommend starting small and simple, then gradually increasing the difficulty level to more complex things. I started with handguns and missles before moving on to harder things. You're also going to need to find 3-view drawings of what you want to model. With any luck, these 3 views will also include dimensional measurements. For cars/aircraft/tanks, my best experience has been to buy a scale model, scan the 3 view drawing that comes with it, then use that in the viewports of 3dsmax as a reference for building the 3d model. There are some online resources with 3-view drawings but I can't think of any off hand. For the most detailed drawings, get yourself the scale model like I said above. Anyways, I hope this post has been informative! :icon_jook -Jack
  7. Also try turning up your Anisotropic filtering. I run mine at 8x and it seems to help me.
  8. I suggest downloading Google Earth. Amazing program! Very good for ground referencing. I'd also suggest taking a look at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas on it as I think that is a good example of what you are looking to produce. BTW, you can take screenshots in Google Earth to use as a reference later (stored as .jpg). Anyways, if you need any help or input just PM me. :icon_jook
  9. I'm interested! Check your PM. :icon_jook
  10. I'm thinking Mk84-AIRs and Mk82/83 Snakeyes would make excellent additions! Now we just need someone brave enough to model them, hint hint. :icon_jook
  11. Everyone, I found some excellent info online about the ballute system used on mk82's. check it out! http://www.ilcdover.com/products/aerospace_defense/supportfiles/AIAA2001-2039.pdf also check out some related info here: http://www.ilcdover.com/products/aerospace_defense/decelerators.htm in regard to RuggButt's post, here's the Snakeye tailfins: http://www.nawcwpns.navy.mil/clmf/snakeye.html Any thoughts? :icon_jook
  12. That's great news! Any community interest in adding the mk82 series high drag bombs? I can skin textures well, but I'd rather leave the modeling to the experts. :icon_jook
  13. Hey everyone, I was wondering if there are any plans to add the mk82 series high drag bombs into the game for the A-10 and other US aircraft. I'm thinking either the Vietnam-era clamshell type or the updated airbag type (BSU-49/B Air Inflatable Retarder). Also, I don't fly the Russian birds very often so I'm a bit unfamiliar with all of their weapons. I was wondering if they have any high drag bombs in the game. This would mean that the physics and code have already been implemented, thus making an addon much easier to include in a patch. Your thoughts?
