  1. In DCS: A-10C there was some massive framerate drops when you looked in certain directions with no real explanation. Tested the same thing in DCS: World, and it`s still there, but much better. Perfect example: - Load the mission editor - Place 1 unit on the airfield of Novorossiysk - Start the mission - Start to pan the view around - Look towards the harbor In my experience, looking everywhere EXCEPT the harbor gives me 70+ FPS. As soon as I pan the view so the harbor comes into view the FPS goes down. In DCS: A-10C, it went down to roughly 30-35 FPS. In DCS: World it goes down to about 40-43 FPS. Is there anything special about harbors? Why are they such a resource hog? Looking at my task manager and Nvidia Inspector, I can see that the CPU get taxed to the max when the harbor comes into view, at the same time the GPU load goes down. As soon as I pan the view so the harbor is no longer in view, the CPU load goes down and the GPU load goes back up. Any gurus that can shed a light on this? Supposed to be like this? I can look at bigger citys, with less hit, then what I get by looking at that small harbor. Regards TZeer
  2. Probably answered before, but here it goes. With the new map/updated graphics/support for directX 11, will some of the load be moved from the cpu and over to the gpu?
  3. Why would there be a problem putting the AH-64D with a longbow radar into the game? Some of the performance is known. It`s been modeled in Jane`s longbow series, EECH/EEAH, and it`s being worked on in the Combat Helo project (hopefully it pulls through and comes out). I bet there are enough info out there to make it an enjoyable experience. Sure there are info and performance stats that never will be known. But since 99% of the general population out there don't even know it`s non secret stuff I don`t think it will be a deal breaker. And I don't think a SFM vs AFM would stop anything like this. ED have said developers are free to come with their own FM, and ED would help them if it was of high enough quality to implement it. Also, having a SFM doesn't stop anyone from making a FM for a chopper, it simply reduces the available stats/parameters/forces/physics you can put into the FM that will affect your flight/handling/damage simulation/movement of the chopper/aircraft. I would jump all over such a product within seconds if it was of such a fidelity it felt realistic.
  4. LOL That was funny!
  5. Fixed it. Seems like TARS recognizes what TS3 your using, 32 bit or 64 bit. But installs 64bit dll if you have win7 64 bit installed. Doesn't matter what version of teamspeak you are running. First reinstall was with the default client you get on the first page on teamspeak.com, which is a 32 bit client. That didn't work. Checked the dll file in the plugins folder in the teamspeak3 folder, had a 64 bit dll file. Uninstalled again, downloaded 64 bit, installed everything all over again, TARS included, now I was able to activate the TARS plugin in teamspeak. But the strange part is that I had 32 bit Teamspeak installed before I updated everything, and it worked fine.
  6. Uninstalled TARS again and TS3 this time. Downloaded a fresh version of TS3. Installed TS3, installed TARS, ran the configuration tool. Activated TARS for DCS A-10. Started TS3 to activate plugin. No plugin to activate. Nothing.
  7. TS version 3.0.3 Qt Version: 4.7.2 But in TARS under the Location of Teamspeak 3 it says: Teamspeak 3 unknown version (x32) installed.
  8. Small problem. Uninstalled TARS, installed the new version. Started the TARS configuration thingy. Started teamspeak, open plugins. Instead of a checkbox I have a red text saying: tars_32.dll Plugin failed to load: Api version is not compatible
  9. Your upgrades looks good. Only bad part is that the entire thing will be bottlenecked by the CPU... I`m running a i7 930@4GHz, and it`s still a bottleneck. I also have a 580 GTX, but the 1,5 GB version, SSD, win7 64 Bit, 12GB Ram. When it comes to the GPU, good choice. My VRAM is constantly maxed out, and I`m running on single monitor@ 1920x1200. If you decide to go for a full upgrade you could maybe go for a 570GTX with minimum 2GB vram to save some cash and then use what you saved to partially finance a CPU+motherboard. My 580 GTX is usually working at about 60-70% load.
  10. For GPU card, 2GB VRAM. I have a single 580 GTX with 1,5GB VRAM, and it`s maxed out most of the time. This is on a single monitor @ 1900x1200.
  11. Where can I download the latest manual? The one in the official download section is not the latest one. Regards
  12. Wow, great welcome :) I'm currently at work, so will be another week until I can get into the A-10 again. In the meantime I have just ordered a Trackir5, upgrading from my old trackir4, and a set of saitek pro combat rudders. Hopefully it will be waiting in the post-office when I return back home. Looking forward to fly with you all.

  14. After a few years of absence from flight sims, I thought it was time to get back into it again. Former Longbow 2, EEAH/EECH, Falcon 4, Janes F/A-18 player. I`m impressed by the complexity of this sim! And the graphics are beautiful. Currently just trying familiarize myself with the cockpit and different gadgets. Also have a few questions. - Did a multiplayer session with a friend of mine. During a LGB drop, my bomb didn't hit the target I was lasing. But a target by friend had his laser on. I was set up for auto lase on, with lasing 10 sec before impact. He had his laser on all the time. Was it due to similar lasercodes that my bomb tracked his laser instead of mine? If multiple people are dropping LGB`s, do you need to change laser code then? Does this apply when flying with AI planes as well? - TAD, how often do you fly with the map enabled? Is there some stuff I have missed that the map can be useful for? I have been in one circumstance where the map was helpful. A mission where I was operating close to the russian border, and I could not cross it. - Multiplayer community, where do I go to join up with fellow A-10 pilots who are willing to teach a rookie the more complex way of using the A-10 systems? Thanks!
