Can't control Maverick slew? plus comment to devs.
Mosley replied to sturm21's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I would compare using the mav slew button to flying the plane while.looking 90 degrees out the window and flying. With that being said do what you would do while flying. Autopilot. The path setting works well for this. Use your tvv and put it close to your target. This will reduce the movement considerably. Right on is better. Just don't descend to low while doing this. Also as mentioned range plays a factor. The closer you are the easier it gets off. -
Does it matter which program you use? (Obviously it needs to be flares) Or if you drop more flares does it lead to more potential targets for the missile thus increasing my odds? How about the same question with a radar based missile? Or whatever type that needs chaff? Do more countermeasures equal better chances? Maybe i can pretend to be a c130 and emergency jettison all my flares and really confuse a strela.
-
The other day I was flying a mission and was being painted by a Shilka which is normally no biggie, but when the strela launched on me I couldnt switch to a different countermeasures program because I was in semi mode. My question is If I switch it to manual mode and a strela launches and I pick a flare program that is not the one the computer would pick for a strela does it have any effect, or does the missle not bite on the flares and still hit me? My thinking was If I stuck in the lower programs and changed them on my own will it still help even tho it might not be at the right interval?

I have noticed its not as sharp as my samung 23 inch at the same distance. To be expected. But i also feel the 23 is so sharp my eyes are missing out on a little bit. Its a small trade for the extra immersion you get with a large screen. Sitting about 4 ft. I think.

I have a 37inch Toshiba 1080p for my monitor and as mentioned above vsync is a must. I enable it at the driver lvl so its on for any game i play. What it does. Well when you enable vsync it will cap your fps at the max of your display, for me its 60fps because its a 60hz tv. But more importantly it cuts down on screen tearing considerably. Its almost like with it off you get an xtra 3rd of a screen thrown in from time to time and it looks odd.

Camera manipulation, Missile seeker camera..
Mosley replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Could you just put the mav on target and just path hold or fly into the target? I think that would give the mav video your looking for.... maybe... -
I feel it just depends on the situation. I also feel that ccip hits a little closer to where i try to put it. Could be me tho. My thing is i start the dive too early most of the time and it feels like a slow curve downwards then all of a sudden its time to go 30 down. Guess ill use that triangle calculator to come up with some basic idea at different alts. But as another post mentioned your will want to be diving behind the target because of your piper . Was more food for thought but in the end i need to quit running straight in. Not such a issue if you line up like the picture earlier showed.
-
So i found this website http://www.csgnetwork.com/righttricalc.html and used a 30 degree angle on B and 10,000 on a. It calculated that at 30 degrees down i should be 3.28 miles away when i do the nose dive. Does this sound correct at all? Havent had a chance to test but i guess another question would be did i even use the triangle calculator correctly?
-
Not sure exactly what you said there. What is a cas wheel? I was thinking of a triangle where you know your alt and distance, and using your degree line it shows the distance you need to be from the target for the dive angle to be closer than a wild guess. The degree line would change distance depending on desired dive angle and alt.
-
That works easier because no chart is required or numbers to remember. I guess i just need to get up there and work with it to figure out the different angles to make it steeper or shallower. Ty all
-
That makes sense and is sometimes how i do it but the question sill stands. Weither im nosing down or rolling into it my distance would affect the dive angle (i think). Im wanting to know how far out when i should start the dive so that i dont have to start shallow then nose dive so that in the end csnt hit my desired angle. My flying is not that bad but i figured if i could come up with a general rule at certian alt's it woukd help. For example at 10k ft 2.5 miles out i can start my 30% dive and be on the money. Almost like capturing an imaginary glide slope at 30 degrees.
-
Sry if already asked. Is there a formula/chart to figure out what my dive angle should be when i am at a certian distance and alt? Since i cant see the target i just have to guess when to start the dive but maybe there is a better way. For example 2miles at 10k ft would be 35 degree's down where 3 miles would be less. Brings back highschool geometry nightmares.

Could you switch the tgp to ir and use the beam to line up the last bit with your nvg's? Or is that a no no? Would make an easier target i guess.
-
no, i didnt include atc in any of my plans. It was just a quick test that i pulled the information off the map of the game and flew it. The other thing is the maps i printed out are correct, and the system's ingame work like they should according to the map's i printed, its just the ingame map that i use for quick reference seems wrong. Also just in case it helps, it was pretty much a straight in approach. init point, 2 tanks, runway , all pretty much in a straight line.
-
Is that the reason on other airports even tho im lined up correctly ( i think ) that im to the right of the airport . Like i was landing in the field next to the airport .
-
So I decided I would work on my ils landings and for fun I would drop a few bombs on some tanks on the way to the airport. I bring up the mission editor and put 2 tanks out , make some waypoints to make it easier just in case i mess up the approach and fly it. My problem was I was landing at Kobuleti and the map (f10 and mission editor) showed the ils head at 255 degrees and the ils feather was on the east side of the airport lining up like it should, but as i intercept the localizer and turned it felt like it was backwards. Plus the glideslope didnt show up till i was fairly close. It felt all wrong, so ... go around and try again.. this time when went back around and landed i noticed the glideslope would have had me touch down on the wrong end of the runway ... so... bring out the maps... uh oh... 07 is the ils with a heading more around 065 than 255. So rework the mission so I am heading the right directions and preto works fine. So is the info on the ingame map wrong?? Am i reading it wrong?
-
I was messing around with it last night and it seems that most of the time im to focused on lining up that little dot up correctly and get going to fast. While messing with it i did notice on the default loadout they were poping off around 6-6.5g's which i believe is around what paul said. You guys lost me a lil on the above post, but it almost seems when pulling up the g forces are exponential as the speed increases. For example at 225kias i can pull as hard as i want and not hit the higher g's, but at 375kias 1/3 of the pull results in much higher g's and if not carefull you do the job for the enemy. Also i belive it is simulating a blackout from the g's but normally doesnt last long becase the wing is gone.
-
I realize that if Im doing 400 knots and yank and bank that could happen. However I have had this happen before in situations where I have had to watch the track to see what happened because the turns shallow and I wouldnt think that would have messed up the plane. ill look into it some more and see if i can reproduce something without turning very hard.
-
thought i read somewhere to build up as much speed as possible during a gun run, but i have a feeling this is the other extreme. plus as you mentioned you dont have much time at that speed.
-
plane seems to stay in one piece at 360ish, over 375 and its pretty much a brick provided you turn too hard. think that g forces would be thru the roof during this event?
-
Ok, so i fired it up again, and if i do a 35 degree dive and bank to one side and pull hard my wing will break off if im going over 360 ish. Also tried it after jettison stores, was going about 385 same thing. so my new guess is overstressing the airframe. not super sure but also want to say if i bank to one side it brake the same wing. for example bank left break right wing, bank right breaks left wing, dont quote me on that tho. that help any?
-
So im guessing, that when i start the mission the hud is already soi? and the command you recommended was to make the hud soi? all these acronyms cant keep em straight.
-
So, im doing the surrounded mission with the default loadout and for some reason especially when im using the gun the outer half of my wing will break off. So my question is am I overstressing the aircraft? Wing getting shot off? Glitch?? Im sure my flying technique is not right, but i dont think im turning to hard. figured id stall first. Also on a side note, one other issue is when I china hat forward long to slew everything to the markpoint then switch to tgp pick a target, tms up long to make spi, switch to mav and china hat forward again to get the mav seeker lined up it moves the tgp, and mav backto the markpoint. it might be doing the tad too havnt looked. any idea what im doing wrong? temp2.trk
