  1. Maybe that's because they're still waiting for Razbam to implement it :megalol:
  2. I know, and that's why I want so bad for this to work properly :cry_2:
  3. Frederf thanks for the update. In light of the above information and given that the INS update is incomplete in implementation I have proposed that we turn INS drift off. My thinking is that if there is no skill in getting the alignment as accurate as possible (i.e. updates always work 100%) then it doesn't actually add anything to the experience. So until it does work I am suggesting my wing-mates just pretend that there's a GPS attached to it to keep it up to date as is probably the case on all modern fighters today (and I'd guess all updated M2Ks too) and leave it at that. Thanks again to everyone for the information. It's helped us in the process of deciding what to do next and how to move forward. Very much appreciated.
  4. You're probably right. Perhaps I should just accept it and try and convince my flight mates to disable INS drift. It's disappointing but it would be a hack to allow us to work with the human JTACs. Thanks for responding Jojo.
  5. Ahh right thanks. That's very disappointing. Makes the aircraft just too hobbled for effective use in a multiplayer wing that includes things like a JTAC or requires any form of pre-planned precision strike. :( I really desperately want to like this aircraft but it's just too incomplete. Any information about when (or even if) this functionality will be fixed or implemented?
  6. Quick question: Is the INS TAS ranging update actually implemented? The reason I asked is I want to start getting the guys at my virtual wing ready to support ground forces and so being able to update the INS is now pretty important. At the moment I have found what seems like the following behaviour: 1. TAS ranging update doesn't seem to work at all. The values given as deltas are complete rubbish. As in if I'm off by a few feet with the diamond I get a number of miles on the readout. Also the drift reported on the left display seems like a function of distance. So I'm guessing it's taking the aircraft's own ship position and not taking a ranging reading. 2. If I do an INS overfly update then that does that seems to work, but I am not convinced it's using my aircrafts current location as I am sure the INS updates to an accurate value even when I am sloppy and miss the update point quite significantly. Does anyone know that status of this? Kind Regards A
  7. Hi all Thought I'd share this. My framerate issue in the Harrier is now solved: When I downloaded the Harrier I was getting terrible FPS problems combined with stutters. I am running DCS on a 4670K i5 with a GeForce 1080 and using the Oculus Rift for context. Tonight I updated the NVidia drivers to 388.43 and the issue is gone. To test I downgraded again and the issues reappeared. If you have been struggling with bad framerates over the last while, I get the frame drops and stutters using GeForce driver version 388.13 and 388.31. They go away with the latest 388.43. This was driving me nuts. I even deleted my save game folder to re-do the configuration and see whether that helps. It didn't. Maybe this will save someone else some frustration. I am now (as of 388.43) getting 45 FPS solid with no stutters at all in VR. A
  8. Thank you. You may have just saved me a few hours of debugging!
  9. Hi all A quick question about group ID's and group spawning in case somebody can help. I've noticed that if I create a group with some name like "MyCoolGroup" and spawn it with coalition.addGroup(...) then I get a nice shiny new group. Then to remove it I can use Group.getByName('MyCoolGroup'):destroy() and as expected the shiny new unit goes away. However, if I try and create a new unit with the same name then nothing happens. This implies to me that the group was never actually got rid of. It's still in the sim somewhere. To my mind this equates to a resource leak which I really don't want to do. So now to my question: Is there a way to properly remove the group so that if I'm creating and removing many of them I am not leaking and slowly degrading the sim's performance? For context I have considered activating and deactivating units but unit re-use isn't really a good option for what I have in mind. If anyone can offer any help I will be hugely grateful. Kind Regards A

    Cornerspeed

The Mirage makes speed control in the High G turn really easy: 1. Full afterburner 2. Pull until the velocity markers are level with your FPM. Now you won't lose any speed. To slow down pull to place the velocity markers below the FPM, and to speed up relax to put the velocity markers above the FPM. Simple
  11. Quick question regarding crosswind speed. When we talk about - for example - a 15kt crosswind landing in the context of DCS are we talking about the wind setting in the 1600ft or the 33ft box in the mission editor? The reason I ask is that if I set a maximum crosswind component of 25kts in the 33ft box then the Mirage's crab angle is enormous and landing is near fatal and close to impossible (for me it IS impossible). 25kts in the 1600ft box leaves it challenging but survivable. Sorry for the brevity but I'm typing this on my phone on the train. Kind Regards
  12. Ahh fantastic. That clears up up. Much appreciated
  13. Hi Quick question if you don't mind. I'm learning how to program the INS and have got it down now but I've noticed something. This is either as it should be, or me doing something wrong. Am I correct in assuming that the LAT/LONG coordinates on the INS display will only repeat the values of the steerpoint selected when pressing the PREP button? I've found that if I press - for example - DEST 02, then although it does change the HSI to point to the correct place, I don't see the LAT/LONG for steerpoint 02 on the INS display. To see those values I need to press PREP 02. That implies that to see the coordinates for my destination waypoint I need to select it with the PREP button after selecting it with the DEST button? Many thanks in advance

    MRQ Button

Thank you! That's fantastic. Much appreciated.

    MRQ Button

Quick question. Does the MRQ button on the INS work? I'm guessing it's used to create overfly markpoints? The current manual doesn't say so I'm kind of grasping here. Any help would be appreciated. Kind Regards
  16. When I load up the kneeboard in the mirage in DCS 1.5.5.6065.216 it opens at the kneeboard page showing the countermeasure programs. If I press the configured keys to change the kneeboard page nothing happens. I have checked that the keys '[' and ']' are indeed mapped. I am unable to map them to other bindings as trying to change any mappings for the mirage in DCS 1.5.5.6065.216 causes DCS to crash to a black screen (as reported here). UPDATE: After I discovered that I can edit the control bindings from the escape menu in the sim (I still can't change them from the main UI) I made one binding change and saved it. Though the change had nothing to do with the kneeboard, the kneeboard previous and next page keyboard bindings have started working again.
  17. I can confirm that this is happening to me too. In DCS 1.5.5.6065.216, if I try to change any setting (axis or button) then once I press OK DCS crashes (black screen). I have tried deleting the directory C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\M-2000C. After doing this all my mappings are indeed back to default, but if I change anything and then press OK DCS crashes (black screen). This does not happen with other modules in 1.5.5 This does not happen at all to me with the Mirage in 2.0.4.59428.142
  18. Thank you for the link :) I will see how far I can get with google translate.
  19. Hi all I was looking for any references or tables for calculating decision, rotate, and liftoff speeds for the Razbam M2K. Also of interest is take-off runway length and maximum allowable crosswind component when landing. Any help will be appreciated as I can't find any of the above in the flight manual despite these being some of the most fundamental numbers with regard to safe flight. I realise this particular information being missing is not uncommon to DCS simulator aircraft but I am hoping alternate sources exist. What would be even better is if someone could convince the developers that this data may just be valuable to purchasers of "high fidelity" simulations and so worthwhile adding to the flight manuals. Kind Regards and thanks in advance to anyone able to help. A
  20. Now that is a damn good idea. I think I am going to do precisely that. Much appreciated :)
  21. Hi Exigeous The thing that causes stutters is the game's main thread, or a thread that it relies on, not completing in the games intended draw time-frame. This usually happens in Windows when something starts going crazy on the IO front (i.e. disk or network reads/writes), or in games that don't load their assets from disk in a way that takes keeping frame rates going into consideration. Even games that do can fall foul of the Windows task scheduler's decisions. I have noticed both cases in DCS. The latter can be seen when you're on the ground and have just started up. If you turn you head 360 degrees then the loading into the seen of the rather enormous number of geometry will cause stutters. Once that's loaded (two to three seconds on my machine) then those stutters go away and the frame rate smooths out. I have also seen the former case which is usually due to other software on your machine deciding it's now a great time to do disk and/or network intensive work. That can cause the Windows task scheduler to take some time to put threats back on the execution queue and so for a fraction of a second (or longer in extreme cases) DCS may literally not be running on your machine because it's waiting for something to finish that Windows has decided is of sufficiently high priority. The culprit for this is often something like and anti-virus program deciding to perform a scan. Windows defender in particular has gone bat-crazy on my machine in the past. You can get cure the AV problem by getting one that allows you to temporarily disable it. It can also be any one of a number of bloatware or malware programs that you don't realise you have. To see if it's this try disabling all background software (especially anti-virus) while running DCS and uninstalling all unnecessary software that some company has decided has to auto load at startup despite you only using it once a year. If you still have issues then try re-install the OS in case you have additional malware that you're unaware of. And I mean a CLEAN installation, not a repair that leaves all that cr** in place. By running a fairly clean Windows machine with a slightly lower spec CPU than you and the same GPU I get almost no stutters at all. I say almost, because they do happen, but - except for the initial load that happens when you look around 360 degrees on startup - only very very seldom. For context I am a games programmer. Hope that helps
  22. Quick question. Does anyone know what the minimum recovery fuel and emergency fuel levels are for the Mirage 2K? I know that the warning lights indicate the final stages of fuel at 1100kg (feeder tanks only) and at 500kg the Level light comes on but I have no idea what the operational tolerances would be. Here's what I want to achieve. Currently in the BMS F-16 I know I need to plan to arrive on final approach at no lower than 1600 lbs of fuel on a clear day. This is because the minimum landing fuel is 1200 lbs and 400 lbs is added for go-around. Now if I were to treat the two airframes as equivalent then that would imply 550 kg for minimums and 180 kg for a clear day go-around, or 360 kg for IFR conditions. Any help for better or more accurate numbers would be greatly appreciated.
  23. Thank you. I will have to work around this then. Much appreciated :)
  24. Hi all Quick question in case anyone can lend a hand. I'm in the process of getting comfortable with the Mirage's radar. Does anyone know if there's an equivalent to the BMS F-16's EXP mode? This would help in sorting with multiplayer where I may want my wingman to, for example, sort the trailer. I've looked but I can't seem to see anything either here on the forums or the manual. Many thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated, or alternatively a confirmation that this functionality really isn't there. Regards A
