  1. Don't have experience with either, but, X3D models of Zen4 "should" be announced today at CES. Might be worth holding out for.

Hoping you don't take too long to present us with your technical analysis of the issue based on published testing methodology and your vast experience of "building PC"... Which has absolutely nothing to with the issue discussed. My 15 year old has built multiple computers... Not exactly rocket science.
  4. It's apparent that you don't know who der8auer is. He's been in the PC building, modding, overclocking, and custom part manufacturing for over a decade and is well-respected for his contributions. If he's making "noise" it's because there's a reason and testing behind it (already more GPUs effected than nVidia connectors), unlike many YouTubers, he's not just doing it for clicks. As for enumerating manufacturers, he clearly only showed AMD reference-style coolers and one AsRock manufacturered (uneffected). He closes by stating that any manufacturer besides AMD, that is using the AMD reference design can "potentially" be affected, not ALL cards will be effected. So either you didn't watch the video before you decided to take to the keyboard or you completely ignored everything he said and just latched on to certain aspects. Either way, right now, the only one making "noise" just to make noise is you... VC internals video for those interested. Around 09:30 mark, no apparent design flaw; not enough fluid in VC is a likely possible cause (QC issue?).
  5. Going to be interesting how this pans out. If its an initial batch issue or a defect in manufacturing process of the VC.
  6. Not sure if you watched the entirety of the video, but it doesn't seem to be a straight up mounting issue. One of the tests, he tested (14:35 video time stamp) in vertical orientation, it was "ok", then flipped to horizontal and temperature spiked. He then returned it to the vertical position (this is all with card powered up and live without remounting) and the hotspot remained. Tested with all of this cards on hand and all exhibited the same behavior. Granted, I only have a cursory (and that's probably being generous) understanding of the cooling solution, but this guy has been around for years and is very knowable on the subject and seems to have done more testing on this issue so far than anyone else and he seems to be fairly convinced that its the vapor chamber issue.   7. Check your hotspot temperatures. There may be a potential issue with the vapor chamber on some cards which causes high hotspot Temps to the point where the card throttles. Might turn into something not far off from Nvidias power adapter issue...
  8. Your words, not mine; but since you mentioned UserBenchmark as a source I figured it was fairly safe to assume. I apologize if I misjudged. You never asked why I thought the way I did, just made a snarky remark and asked for alternatives. I provided the alternatives. Now since you asked, by and large, User Benchmark testing methodology is unpublished and their results are often biased, seemingly pulled out of thin air and appear to be counter everyone else's findings (those outlets that actually publish methodology). If you really care, you can google User Benchmark validity/legitimacy and you'll end up down in a rabbit hole really quick. As for the purposes of DCS specific, realistically, the only benchmarks you will find are the ones conducted by users here on the forums, and some that post to YouTube. DCS isn't really a popular testing platform outside of here. Some conclusions could be drawn by looking at the benchmarked performance of some of the single-threaded games you may not care about, and those benchmarks are provided by Gamers Nexus, Hardware Unboxed. etc. If you look in the VR forums here, there is a significantly long thread on 5800X3D and its performance compared to other CPUs in DCS. Allergies aside, as far as I know, User Benchmark doesn't test DCS performance either....

  10. First off, UserBenchmark is pretty much trash, and that's borderline being disrespectful to trash. Now, what makes 5800X3D better in gaming is the massive L3 cache. However, the cache is primarily beneficial in games and has minimal to no productivity benefit. So if one is looking to game only, 5800X3D wins, or at the very least ties something like a 7700X or a 13600K, while having a cheaper entry price.
  11. Yeah the contrast and brightness was a bit out of whack on those screens. Winwing appear to be of better quality, picture-wise.
  12. Yeah I modeled and printed a set similar to the 2nd one you linked in ABS, will see how long it lasts seems to work great so far.

  14. Its not that brake solution on these pedals makes them great for choppers, it's their design/operation and construction which closely resembles that what is found helicopters. It also has a fine resolution inputs, which is of more value choppers than fixed wing. As far as choppers and brakes, most rotary birds equipped with wheels use them for taxiing, brakes are there for the same reasons as on fixed wing aircraft.
  15. You essentially create a modifier, which while held down changes/creates virtual axis which can be assigned to either individual axis for each wheel or apply both wheels. Also, as someone else mentioned, these pedals are stupid precise allowing for a very fine control input I'd have to go back and look exactly how my brakes are set up, it's been years since I've messed with it.   16. I have VKB t-rudders, never used Virpils. So with some one-sided bias, here is my take. I love my t-rudders, very smooth with defined center plus adjustable preload. You can move them further apart left/right forward/back. I also play a good bit of helicopters and t-rudders are the closes thing we have to helicopter-like rudder pedals. I 3d printed some dampers that go between the pedal and the main body and it acts like a clutch as to prevent the pedal from coming back until counter force is applied. As for the toe brakes, those are easily added virtually. I also have a VKB gunfighter stick and they integrate seamlessly. For the money, I couldn't be happier with them, almost 3 years later.
  17. If I had to do it again and not going VR, I would be aiming for an LG OLED C2 (42"). I have a 32" 1440 for when I'm in pancake mode and it feels tiny after seeing by buddy's 42" C2. I have a 77 C1 in the living room and would not hesitate to buy another LG OLED for gaming. My 32" is on a single full articulated arm and allows me to move it closer to me when I sit back further in DCS due to controls (Hotas/stick). But LucShep is right. It's going to depend on your preference and setup. For example how far away you sit from the screen. If I sat at my normal gaming desk range, 42" is very uncomfortable because your eyes have to dart all over the screen as it is too large. But, when playing DCS, the seat + controls move your sitting position back by about a foot and half and 42 is perfect and fills your FOV. Best advice I can give you is, don't just go by what someone recommends in a review or a YouTube video (they are good for factual specs and performance etc.); try to view the screen in person. If you can try different screens in your particular setup, that's thr best case scenario. Bigger isn't always better. Hardware Unboxed lads have a sub channel that does monitor reviews, might be something to look at as far as what's out there; what's good and what is overhyped marketing trash.
  18. Think you're going to have a hard time finding anyone who bought an Intel GPU, and much harder to find someone who bought an Intel GPU to play DCS. Looking forward to seeing your results though.
  19. I've been on the hunt myself (never thought finding a $1600 gpu in stock would be this difficult), figured easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Figured if it lasts me 5 years like the 1080ti did, it's not as big of a blow haha.

  21. Haha, the greatest vaporware product of all time. I love my Gunfighter and T-rudder, but this throttle... Well, at this point it's hilariously ridiculous.

  25. If you don't care about DLSS or RT performance, it's hard to argue against the XTX at its price.
