  1. Got the plans from Jedi. Can't wait at my try at this. Quick question though... I sent over the files to a shop that does cnc material. The guy told me that... "Ok, now that I have had the opportunity to view the files, I would suggest that you laser cut these pieces not CNC them. If you laser cut the pieces, you will get crisp inner corners, if you CNC the parts, you will have a radius all inner." What exactly does he mean? Would it be better to laser cut or just have him CNC?
  2. To cut out some MFD board for my pit of course.
  3. I'm having trouble locating some local CNC shops that could possibly do some mdf machining for my pit. I have plans in CAD and would like to get some work done! Any Californians out there who can point me in the right direction? I'm not looking for only shops but if you actually know a person that maybe runs a mill in their garage and could help out, that will definitely work too. I would actually prefer a privateer since I am interested in watching how milling works. If so, please post up or send me a pm!
  4. You sir are the reason why I love being a part of the sim community. Everyone here is incredibly helpful and willing to give some advice to those in need of answers. Thank you for your work and assistance with this project of mine and I am sure that there are those that will benefit from this as well. To pay it forward to the community, I'm going to document every step of the way for those who may be cautious and hesitant to try to build something like this. Hopefully we can influence others to perhaps pay it forward as well
  5. Finally got a TrackIR. DEFINITELY changes the whole experience!
  6. I don't know where to exactly put this on the forums but I figured that since it relates to an ACES II seat, my best bet would to post it in here... Anyways I have recently obtained a .dwg file from Gene Buckle over at simhq for an ACES II seat. I was instructed to look at it with the program AutoCAD or DraftSight. Someone told me I can take the file and get it printed on a large format printer so I can make it somewhat of like a "stencil" when I go and start to cut wood with a saw. I was wondering where would one go and get this type of file printed out and how much it would cost. Also, do I need to give the location/person/store/etc. any specific instructions to get this to the correct size? He didn't mention anything but that it is designed in metric scale and I do not know how to get the accurate size from the program. Thanks for the help if any as I know it might be a tough question >_< And for reference: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3307062/ejection_seat_plan_needed_badl.html http://www.geneb.org/acesii/aces%20ii%20seat.dwg
  7. Congrats! I just had my first contact this afternoon too. After of course 1390483924228 million attempts and shooting down the tanker out of frustration.
  8. Awesome pit Firestick! With your design, it looks like i can take a part an old exercise machine that somewhat gives me a frame I can use to base off of. Question though, what's your rig specs? Reason being is that I'm wondering if having a 2nd monitor for MFD's will have a huge impact on the performance of my 3d card / hardware.
  9. Here is a new vid I made! Just a quick video from a recent game session with the 76th TFW Tankbusters. Had some fun doing missions and this sweet formation take-off. Thanks to Kylania and Python for again, taking me under their wing and teaching me the basics of DCS. Been steadily improving! Definitely a study sim worth trying out if you're debating on this!
  10. This is awesome, definitely subscribing. You should make a kit but different variations. For instance, one who want the full pit to put switches and etc., or those who just would like a place to sit and somewhere to place their stick and throttle on the sides. For example, Flim's "Light" build. Of course not to copy his but an idea. Just a seat, stick, and throttle areas. And later if the itch comes, they can add more stuff like the actual dash and etc.
  11. C;monnnn, I'd buy 5 of the apps for no reason to support you doing Android T_T
  12. Figured out the rendering issues, should have no blank/black scenes now.
  13. "Pilot: Ryan-Paulbert Call Sign: Slink First time flying into combat last night with the boys from 76th Tankbuster's. Just for some background info, I'm an extremely new nugget. So excuse the panic stick and throttle inputs as I'm still not as confident on my flying abilities! Kylania and Python took me under their wing to learn a few things and next thing you know, I'm in a sketchy situation due to a SAM and not paying attention. Changed flight plan back to Kutaisi for an emergency landing. 76th's Kylania and Python talking me in as I'm trying to land this thing. I've never done an emergency landing before, got my heart racing that's for sure. Then on final approach I notice a blip on the runway... Another player parks his Hog (maybe disconnected?) on the runway!!! But to my avail I narrowly... and I do mean NARROWLY, miss clipping his wing by rudder hard to the left." I noticed I didn't even bother to extinguish the fire. I honestly don't know why, lol. I guess in my head there was too much going on for me that something so obvious slipped my mind O_O
  14. Got my heart beating pretty fast :D

That's not the only thing, some other player parks his Hog on the runway in my path  But to my avail I narrowly... and I do mean NARROWLY, miss clipping his wing by rudder hard to the left :joystick: Uploading a video soon
  16. Any room for someone who'd like to practice as well!?
  17. I'm progessing and learning day by day! Here's my first captured manual start-up and take off. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1285178
  18. Finally got the hang of manually starting without looking at any notes. Please be nice as I'm still an extreme nugget, haha. And excuse the robotic camera movements as my TrackIR is still in the process of being shipped! If you see anything that I may be doing incorrectly, please let me know. I'd appreciate any negative and positive feedback/advice for me to get better!

  19. I tried exactly what Viper told me and it worked to no avail. In windows, it was not picking up movement either in the deadzone / axis configurator. I uninstalled all the drivers, did a driver sweep, and reinstalled. It works now.
  20. Ty for the replies. Got my X52 Pro in the mail today. Very VERY happy with it. Except I am having one problem with the twist rudder. Can anyone chime in? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=79165
  21. Awesome profile Jack! Question though, I cannot get the twist rudder on the stick to work. I tried to go into the game to Flight Controls and bind the twist rudder to the rudder controls but it is not letting me bind any controls in that section for the X52 Pro device. Can anyone help?
  22. X52 Pro just ordered! Does anyone know if there is a big difference between TrackIR 4 and 5? I'm debating if the price jump from the 4 is really justified.
  23. Come to think of it, I think the fancy schmancy sticks can wait until I at least can finish my pit ;)
  24. I'm thinking of the X52 Pro AND the TrackIR5 as a substitute.
