Then how would they buy computers? Especially pc's good enough to run BS and especially the up and coming beast that will be Rise of Flight.

After reading a post from Safari Ken in another thread I want ask you my fellow flight simmers why you think the Russians have cornered our niche market? IL2, Lock On, Black Shark and the coming Rise of Flight (Oleg/1C, ED, Neoqb) - the publishers were maybe not Russian, but the developers all are. And these titles are arguably the cream of the crop through the last decade - give or take. Is it because we are such a niche market that developers in other nations don't see it as a worthy venture? Are the Russian teams just plain better at it? Your thoughts?

Yah but at the cost of toner cartridges these days is this a viable option? Unless you print just a few of the pages you consider important be prepared to spend more than the cost of the DCS manual in ink cartridges.

It doesn't make any difference. I was just curious why so many peeps seemed to be tormenting themselves over this game when a simple download is all it took months ago to get airborne. Yep. A little common sense goes a long ways. :thumbup:

What does a hard drive melt down have to do with it? If you have either version you just reinstall. You log into DCS site and there is your download and serial number waiting for you. I bought the download version of Lock On years ago and never have I had any problems reinstalling. This includes numerous reformats (none of which did I use the activation save file dochie-ma-flopper) and a new computer.

As for reactivation's there is a way to save a reg string so that you don't have to reactivate with a new installation. As for where you will be able to buy the DVD I am unsure. I think there will be internet retailers and it will be in a couple select stores. Not sure though as I have had the game for some time now and don't need a DVD - hence this post.

I don't understand the aversion to buying and downloading BS. Bad internet connection? Afraid to use credit card online? You absolutely have to have another DVD laying around to clutter up your desk even more? So many individuals have expressed their extreme desire to have this sim but they have to wait for the DVD version. Why? What is it? Why can't you download the freakin game?

That's a pretty ignorant response. Yeah and get shipping insurance. Track IR is worth it.

The environment is fairly bland actually. And the engine, which is the same as Lock On is really showing its age. The more civilian activity there is the more of a frame rate hit you will take. BS is good but in my opinion not great. I am not one of the fanboy's who waited tirelessly for the release. I am not one of the guys who downloaded the Russian version then the English and then will buy the DVD. Point being there are peeps who will tell you this sim is the best thing since sliced bread no matter what question you ask. It's not. It's a decent sim with room for improvement.

Surely there is a country near you that sells Track IR and can ship it to you.

This is not unique to BS either. I had the same issues in Lock On.

Maybe he said let it go because the poll is asking what you would pay for a color manual. Or would you prefer one. And you bring the symbols debate/issue in to it.

Don't know if this will help but make sure that in BS controller setup none of your hotas buttons are mapped. Ex.: Button 3 mapped to gear. Go through and clear them all. Might help if there are conflicts.
