Phoenix that's a good idea I didn't know a sidewinder could be slaved to the tgp! I'll have to try that out! Thanks for the other tips fellas its helpful! -Gun

is the SA cue the white dot? getting it at my 12 is easy but how would I determine the angle it is above or below my aircraft?

hello I was flying some quick missions and was attempting to use the TGP to help locate an air target. Of course my wingman always got the tally first so I would have him engage the targets. On the tad you could then look and see where they were via the wedding cake symbol. Then simply move the tgp diamond to the wedding cake and there they are! Then its simply lock on up in point track mode and then...big deal. You did all that work to lock up a target and as far as I can tell it gives no indication on the HUD to the direction of the target like it does in AG mode. What has to be done to allow the TGP in AA mode to indicate a targets position on the HUD? Thanks -Gun

that actually makes sense!

I wonder what the logic behind that is?

That reminds me of a question I had...why isnt there a choice for AP only..It appears that if you want AP you have to run CM. Thanks -Gun

Thanks!!

which one falls shorter the HE or the AP? -Gun

Thanks Speed I'll try that out!!

I installed Speeds fix and it works great. Does it not work online?

I didnt read most of the replys but don't hold the pipper on the target. Doing so induces - G forces which screw up whatever it is that calculates the release point (an IMU?) instead dive until you can see the pipper and a solid line then reduce forward pressure on the stick allowing the plane to slowly climb, walk the target down the line until the pipper dot is on the target and then hit the release button. iIf your bomb lands within 10 feet from 1000 feet up thats good. I dont use ccip above 2000 feet on tanks. -Gun

I think I found the answer thanks to Jona33 (talk about info overload) However I would still like to know about the above question regarding updating a WP with 37 or 38T..can it be done. Thanks again

-Bigfoot excellent tutorial thats how I was executing the 9line entry!! -Ralfi Awesome video you put together it was quite helpful and solved my 9line displacement error!! But there is one problem. If Im playing a new mission I can only assume that the 9line 37/38T is correct until I find out otherwise. I enter all that stuff and find out there it needs to be for example 37T. Ive made a new WP (call it AAA) but If I attempt to correct the error and enter 37T no update is performed and I still have bogus data. Is there anyway to update the WP to correct for the error or must I create a whole new WP and make it 37T before hitting the "make new WP" button? (the later has been the only successful method so far or prior knowledge that it must be 37T off the bat) Thanks -Gun

Maybe I was mistaken.. In some single missions like "turkey shoot" and instant action "medium difficulty spring time Russia" The Jtac line I enter gives me a point 99 miles away. Is this a known issue? or am i screwing up? I was unaware of the red triangle ill have to give that a try!! I Remember seeing it now.

The best news is 9 lines actually work as in they arent bugged and I find are quite fun to execute when you figure them out. This video also tells how to execute type 1 2 or 3 attacks and a bit more detail http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9nhxcd_s6A&list=FL1UaXdsbKdqucuiwLDZbNcQ&index=2&feature=plpp_video

This looks really cool. I just built a new PC and its looking for something worthy to render. -Gun

Richard burns rally which I consider the DSC -A10 of driving sims worked well with my joystick. Thanks for the info...Maybe I'll just have to save up for that TMW. It sounds like its construction is superior... The other option is the saitek based on the input :) Thanks -Gun
-
That was actually my 2nd concern with the TMW. It seems too specialized. For sure its totally kick ass for DCS-a10 which as far as I know is the only sim which can utilize that joystick. I assume TM made that stick after learning about development of DCS A-10. Does it work okay for say games like IL2 / wwII sims or racing /driving games...The upcoming DCS p51...Or does the high degree of specialization actually make it a poor choice for anything other than DCS A-10?? What about the BASE it looks like it must be screwed down to stay put is that true?
-
Hey Thanks for the info about the MSFF2! TMW is the thrustmaster warthog right? Im sure its bad ass but I dont want to spend 400 for a joystick... What would you consider as the next step down? Thanks -Gun

How does the input resolution of the x-52 pro feel? Are fine inputs translated well to the screen? For example during a refuel? Im looking for a new stick as well and had considered the x-52 pro as a replacement for my microsoft force feedback 2

Help with some tactic and game play questions

Okay so using the mission that Tucano posted I simply moved the Bulls marker to the west (off the coast) of the runway where the tank is driving around. I first moved the marker about 150 miles off the coast this is about the distance the marker is from the targets in the CSAR mission. Now when the f15 calls the armor he spots it was something like bulls 084 for 150. Enter that and it puts the marker about 13 miles and 160 deg off course of the tank (13 miles behind the fight) Just like in the CSAR mission. So I moved the bulls marker only 20 mi off the coast and this put the SPI marker about a 1/4 mile off the coast of the runway, a pretty big distance off from the target on the runway maybe a few miles. If you had no idea where the target was and you tired to find it with the TGP using this SPI it would take a very long time to find the tank. What is going on? It seems if the bulls marker is more than 2 or 3 miles from the target its worthless... the info is totally crap due to huge error amounts. Isnt a bulls call a pretty important piece of mission intel when it comes to finding a target?? -

Thanks Tucano! I tried the mission out, Entered the data into the CDU and the first time it took about 1 min to find the tank he wasnt very far from the SPI that was created. The second time he was nearly dead in the center of the TGP sight when it was slaved to the SPI. So why is it working so well here and not at all in the CSAR mission? Im getting bulls calls that end up behind the battle zone and none of the other bulls calls are close enough to find anything. Is this because the bullseye was set right by the tank? "bulls 064 for 1" (or whatever it was) The f15 reported the bandit at about (178 for 80) but reported the tank at 1 mile. IF the bullseye was 100 or 150 miles from the tank then how close would the SPI end up to the tank would it be off by an impossible distance like it is in the CSAR mission? At a 150 miles isnt the distance between any two degrees that radiate out from a center point say 087 and 088 terribly huge as in it would take hrs to search that area with the TGP? -

BRAA is for air targets...As I see it they call the range and heading, altitude and Hot or Cold (inbound or flying away). You point the nose of your aircraft to that heading and they'll probably shoot you down first I think its that simple. I think pop up groups are for ground targets but I don't know how to effectively utilize the information. Do you simply point the nose to that heading, take a guess at how far the range given is (for example 2000) and setup a new SPI in what you believe is the right location, slave the TGP to the SPI and try to find the target? My main problem is I am still unable to locate high threat targets...I should just say targets. Bulls calls don't do me any good yet. I'm pretty sure I'm setting the offset up correctly yet the new SPI isn't close to anything and is often behind the fight??? I saw a youtube tutorial on Offset / Bulls and it worked great in the example I saw... That got the SPI to a few 100 yds of the target. Im doing most of the steps shown in the video...nothing that would screw things up enough to have the SPI behind me. any ideas? -

I think I got the radio figured out...seems that the wing man will ignore a call rather than say unable or something along those lines... I guess this adds to the confusion. A new question...if Awacs reports popup group how would I enter that information so I can use it? Can it be entered into the offset page?
