  1. DCS World has the potential to be the "Holy Grail" of simming. Land, Sea, and Air, complete with a command and control structure, with realistically (as real as a computer sim can get) modelling, all interacting in real time. A few games have done this before, but not nearly at this level of realism. This would be way too much to tackle by a single company, so I am excited to see it being opened up to 3rd party developers. Free market forces will hopefully drive the developers to make their products high fidelity and weed out the junk. There are limits, of course, I wouldn't care to see it become "The Sims at War" or something, but I would love to see much better AI for ground forces. Combat Mission, for example has troop AI that can react to the tactical situation and will ignore orders if they are tired out or under suppressing fire, etc. They can also react to a nearby threat and will take the initiative rather than blindly follow a script. Of course all of this is limited by technology, I have to wonder how much today's computers can handle. Just imagine what the next generation will have :)
  2. I know there was a prototype short/mid range Tomahawk that was to be air launched that never saw field service. But wasn't there an early version that was fitted for launch from B-52's at one time? I seem to recall some pics back in the day.
  3. You could just change your call sign to "White Rabbit" :) Seriously though, is it not possible to edit the mission to do just that? Afterall, it's your game, nothing says that you can't do what you want (at least offline, in multiplayer you don't have so many options). I am still in the very early stages of learning, so am not at the point of even looking at/caring about my eta and linger times. But if it were to become an issue in the future, I would just edit and go on.
  4. Ah, Google must have necro'd on me again. I get some of the oddest and oldest stuff in my searches sometimes. I will check it out when I get home tonight. My comp here at work comes up blank on your link, but it has so many odd security setttings etc. that I don't know if it is an error on the page or my work system. And yes, I like your chart very much, it is a pretty handy quick reference, and really helped me get the switch names down to understand instructions a lot easier.
  5. That's odd, on my comp it is laid out perfectly in tables.
  6. Forgive me if this (or something like it) has been posted before, but I thought this might come in handy for some. I know that as a total beginner, I am still a bit confused about the terminology, which makes it hard in training to know what exactly they are talking about with all the switch names. I found this to be very helpful, so I thought I'd pass it along. This is not my work, all credit goes to the original author/poster. 7. I used to be a fan of CH, and back in the day they were the best you could get. But they have coasted on their reputation for far too long, and now they are way behind the times. The old stick and throttle I had were very reliable, and I dearly loved my Force Feedback stick, which they no longer make. It seems that once they made the switch to USB based equipment, their overall quality, and factory QC went downhill. I bought a stick from them a few years ago, and out of the box there was so much slop in the stick that it was unusable. The fit of the pot shaft to the gimbal was way too loose. I had to do a home repair based on an article on their forum, which voided the warranty. The warranty was useless anyway, as no one answered the phone or responded to e-mails. None. At all. I sold the stick, and bought a Cougar, which has worked flawlessly. I will never even look at CH again. TM at least takes care of a problem when it comes up, and is trying to innovate. CH was very happy to show us their A-10 stick and throttle when TM announced theirs. Well, the artist concept of it, anyway, and they don't know if they will actually sell it to the public, and, um, they'll get back to us.... What store carries the CH A-10 throttle? I will be putting my order in for a Warthog at the end of the month.
