  1. Hi, Why does the Huey require 2 different main body .dds files? They are both the same template, but one is labeled "_spec" and is slightly different in color. I've tried to use a file as a substitute for making my own, but I cannot seem to get the right combination. Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong? Much appreciated. This is the .lua file that I've adjusted. I have replaced the main "0" file with the .dds I made myself. Why the "0" and "2" for each of the different main body .dds files? None of this exists in Ka-50 skins and those have worked for me. livery = { {"uh1_main_dam", 0, "BAF1.bmp", false}; {"uh1_main_dam", 2, "uh1_spec_solidskid", false}; {"uh1_tail_dam", 0, "navy_test_tail", false}; {"uh1_tail_dam", 2, "uh1_tail_spec", true}; {"uh1_main", 0, "BAF1.bmp", false}; {"uh1_main", 2, "uh1_spec_solidskid", false}; {"uh1_tail", 0, "navy_test_tail", false}; {"uh1_tail", 2, "uh1_tail_spec", true}; {"uh1_weapon", 0, "uh1_weapon_blk", true}; {"pilot_UH1", 0, "pilot_UH1_usmc", false}; {"pilot_UH1_helmet", 0, "pilot_UH1_helmet_usmc", false}; {"pilot_UH1_patch", 0, "test_pilot_Patch_full", false}; {"Gunner_UH1", 0, "gunner_uh1_usmc", false}; {"uh1_cov", 0, "navy_test_cover", false}; {"UH1-cpt-door", 0 ,"UH1_door_c",true}; {"UH1-cpt_karkas", 0 ,"UH1_karkas_c",true}; {"UH1-cpt_karkas2", 0 ,"UH1_karkas2_c",true}; {"UH1-cpt_panel", 0 ,"UH1_panel_c",true}; {"UH1-cpt_central_box", 0 ,"UH1_boxs_c",true}; {"UH1-cpt_dev2", 0 ,"UH1_dev_2",true}; {"SPH-4B", 0, "pilot_UH1_helmet_usmc", false}; --gunner helmet {"uh1_rotor_alfa", 0, "navy_test_Blades",false}; } name = "Brazilian Air Force" countries = {"USA"} I hope I explained my problem correctly. Thanks for any help.
  2. Brazilian Skin I'm very new to skinning. I have done 2 for the Ka-50 and they aren't great. But I may take this on just to improve my skills in Photoshop and the code. It may take a week or more, so don't get to impatient with me, I'll post here as I go. I haven't done camo yet, the layer breakdown can be daunting with 3 or 4 different camo colors. Where they go in the layer, etc. I just found a ton of pics on Airliners.net. I will try, I just may not succeed.
  3. That Exhaust I first saw the upturned exhaust on the Cobras, which didn't get to country (Vietnam) until 1967ish. He's right about hiding the IR signature--specifically, shootdowns by Strella missiles. So, it was called the Strella conversion. Credit to Lou Drendel for the following:
  4. X45 thumb rotary is Joy Slider2 in axis and the index rotary is Joy RX.
  5. I know this is a super late reply, but maybe the people who are searching can use this. The X45 rotaries in game/sim can only be programmed as axis commands. The thumb rotary is Joy Slider2 and the index rotary is Joy RX. The only command for the Shkval with this is the absolute camera (in KA 50) so it acts just like the camera slew. One rotary for up/down and the other for left/right if you wish.
  6. Success,,Solution! I did everything Lexicon said and no avail. When I went into the crash logs file in the Saved Games folder--not only were all of the old crash logs there, but so were saved games folders for BS2 and A-10C. I figured all of it was old so I just deleted everything. Then I restarted the World to create new crash logs--I thought the results would be the same. They were not. It ran well. So I installed the 1.2.4 P-51D module and it ran well too. Solution: Get rid of everything old--EVERYTHING! Make sure you look in "Drive"/Users/"name"/Saved Games and get rid of everything DCS old. Thanks for help here. Bill
  7. All worked well in 1.2.3 I had only P-51 as a module. I auto updated to 1.2.4 and added BS2 and A-10C modules. BS2 worked well and SU-25T worked well. The others CTD when attempting to view training videos or run any missions. I unloaded EVERYTHING. Then I reinstalled World 1.2.4 by itself. Now SU-25T CTD on everything too. During the install I also installed C++ and directx as they came with the package. I have not yet loaded any other modules as I believe they will follow suit. Any ideas would be appreciated. Win 7 64bit 8 gig ram nvidia 520 something series (I'll look it up if you need it) I know this is me--when I try to upload my crash logs it says they are invalid files???
  8. This is all good to know. I've been mostly playing Warthog, but I have BS2 loaded as well. I actually borrowed a TIR2 from a friend to try out, but I think, like you, there will be a 4Pro or 5 in my near future. Thanks for the info.
  9. trackir2 Yep, I just read this on the TrackIR site tonight and got it to work. If this doesn't work for you--go to the TrackIR site and look in the forums. I found it quickly so you should too. First look in the software/driver download area and under the 4.1.038 and you will see (show older v4 releases). http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06-support/support-download-software-and-manuals.html This should be the page. Find the 4.1.03 Final B. Download that. Then download the 3.13 software, which is the originally compatable last release for the TrackIR2. You will find that somewhere in the older software link at the bottom of one of the pages. Before you plug the TrackIR unit in, run the 4.1.03 install. During install it will ask you which components do you wish to install. Only install the USB driver--or drivers from this. Then install the 3.13 software Then plug in your unit. That's it. Good Hunting. Hope this helps, it did for me. PM me if you have troubles.
  10. Thanks for the work. I'll keep it with my pile of helpful docs.
  11. =false As stated, although not very specifically, I did make sure both lines were =false. I used notepad++ and ran it as administrator. I did Save angles Ralt+kp0 after every time I set a new snap view. I knew this function worked because as I said, during the current mission, the snap views work as I saved them. I Googled run as admin everything and got onto a MS forums. They answered the question. Now I'm running all sims as admin and I'll try it here in a moment to see if that affected a change. Stay tuned. Ok gentleman, that was the solution. I set up everything (sim and icon to open sim)as run as admin and now the changes are being saved from game to game. Thanks for the fast replies.
  12. Hey Guys, I've been reading these threads over and over trying to find the magic bullet. I've changed my view.lua files to =false as directed. In game I can change and save my snap views. They work as published for the rest of the mission. Once I exit a mission or game the new snap views are not saved. They then revert to default. I've even alt tabbed during a mission to check the current snap view file against my backup original file and they don't seem to change at all. Any ideas? I want my snap view changes to be saved permanently, not just for that mission.
  13. x64 Thanks everyone for your help. I'm running 64 bit Win 7. Win 7 HP x64 has 2 program file folders. Program files and Programs filesx86. The x86 folder is 32 bit folder. I looked in the BS2 bin folder and there is no folder x86. There is a file that is titled protectx64. I will take your advice and move the sim out of the program files folder and see if that improves performance.
  14. Snap views not saving for me Hey Guys, I've been reading these threads over and over trying to find the magic bullet. I've changed my view.lua files to =false as directed. 15. OS I''m running Windows 7 HP. That is why I question this install.
  16. When I loaded BS2 is autoloaded into my Programs (x86) file. I understand that this is the windows 32 bit file. Is that correct? Will I get better performance by reloading--forcing it--into the program files which are 64 bit? Maybe I had a choice during the install and chose incorrectly, I don't remember that part. Maybe my computer is fast and I'm just slow. :music_whistling: Thanks

  18. Saitek drivers The X-45 is old, but my renewal to life came with Saitek's new SST programming software and driver download. Downlaod all from the Saitek site. I don't use the SST software in the DCS sims, but after installing the newer drivers (They come loaded with new calibration software) I have had zero problems. Hope this helps.
  19. Controls modifier switches In the options menu, under the controls tab, is the modifiers button. Just like FC2, etc. In the GUI manual, like FC2, there is direction on how to set a switch. However, in A-10C, in the modifiers menu, there is no such thing as a switch. Am I missing something, or was it removed? I am using an X-45 with a laptop for now with no Num pad and switches are very useful. Thanks
