waiting for resolution RAZBAM Situation Post Archive (will be deleted)
rfxcasey replied to Rhinozherous's topic in RAZBAM
Ah, I remember the good ol' days when "the customer is always right". Losing the use of any Razbam modules would be a travesty, but personally I feel the Mirage and Harrier would be devastating, especially considering how long they've been around for. The Hawk issue was bad enough, but considering Razbam at one time made up around a third of ED's lineup of full fidelity aircraft, it's unfathomable ED allowed a scenario like this to unfold. Makes one wonder what other poor decisions have yet to occur. I can't say I have any level of confidence that the Harrier and Mirage won't be lost entirely, especially when you consider the less than satisfying answers and communication. Seems ED is playing legal duck and cover. I'll say it again, this never should have happened, yet here we are. This isn't a troll and fanboys will fanboy. The hard truth is many of us have legitimate concerns and feelings on this issue. Are we "wrong" or just inconvenient? I know many would rather us just stow it and not voice our opinions, but I absolutely LOVE the Harrier and don't want to see it die. And who's to say this couldn't also happen with Heatblur, no one can say for sure. I have store credit for the Strike Eagle so I guess I'll spend it on Cold War Germany. After that, I think I'm done. I have enough modules to play with for the rest of my life, though I may be losing a few more it seems. It's a sad state of affairs.- 6404 replies

Whelp, there is nothing you can do about it so, guess you better learn to live with it or find something else to do. The announcement of the F-35 in no way undermines or diminishes my confidence that the A-10 or F/A-18 are not as realistic as ED was allowed to make them.

The Flaming Cliffs aircraft have always been in DCS so I don't see how exactly ED is "shifting" away from anything. Mission builders as well as server hosts are free to include or exclude whatever aircraft they see fit. No one is forcing anyone to play a mission or fly in a server that doesn't meet their preferred level of "realism".

The video did not contain a Naval Phantom nor any other Phantom news. What you have been looking at is one of the existing liveries. Didn't contain "news" about a lot of things, yet they are in the video.
-
Yeah well, I was half kidding but I think they get the point.

Official DCS World 2025 and Beyond video @1:32, Phantom II wing with a USN marking.
-
Look on the bright side, this opens the door for all sorts of modules. Su-57 anyone?
-
I'll play Devil's advocate. DCS World is ultimately a game and without money, the game dies.

Don't worry, by the time ED actually releases an F-35 it will be retired and all documentation declassified. But seriously, if ED was going to go this route then why not the F-22, I might have been able to get onboard with that at least. Thought I heard it said in the past they wouldn't do a Mitsubishi Zero sighting the lack of documentation, I guess we can look forward to one now? But what I'm really looking forward to is the full fidelity Su-57, man that is gonna be awesome.

Refunded without prejudice. If the issues with Razbam reach a satisfactory resolution I may consider re-purchasing it, but for now, I'm not dealing with it given the less than satisfactory handling of the situation thus far. "It's my prerogative. I can do what I want to do."

What did I think of Kiowa? It needs to improve in some areas!

Pilot models look terrible. The Gumby wrists when holding the rifles are particularly offensive.- 594 replies

The exhaust sound is coming out of front of F-4E instead of out the rear. As it stands, directly behind afterburner is quiet.

Tried that, not working.

Latest version, playing in Multithread, every time I join a server for the first time after starting DCS world, it will go through the connection loading screens and then crash back to the menu screen saying "connection timeout". If I attempt to join the server immediately after that it will connect just fine. Happens ever single time I fire up the game and with ever server, so I essentially have to join any server twice to get it to load and connect properly. I've done a cleanup but it didn't help. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know but this is majorly annoying and you guys need to stop already.

Sad, sad, situation. I've owned the F-15E for a while now and just started flying it a bit not too long ago so I'm not too attached to it, but the Harrier on the other hand is AMAZING! This might be wishful thinking, but in the event RB and ED can't sort this out, it would be a mighty righteous move on the part of RB to either sell or just donate the projects to ED for the sake of the users. I guess they could always try selling the projects to another 3rd party developer as well. Heatblur, please buy all or RB's projects and make them glorious-er!

For real, good catch! You KNOW the Eagle should have been plastered all over this as it has been everything else and one has to ask why? Could be nothing yes, but not a great sign if you ask me. Time will tell.

Well I for one certainly hope Razbam modules continue to develop and have a long life as I own several. Not saying you but I think some folks get the impression that simply voicing concern and speculating is somehow an evil cardinal sin that will undermine and bring down the whole body.
-
Relatively speaking, it appears of all the modules, Razbam's have the highest possibility of being discontinued currently. ED has confirmed there is an "issue" currently, look it up I'm not your search engine. Is that possibility really that high overall? Eh, we can speculate.
-
Don't know I'd classify that as a "wild" speculation.
-
Not sure what this has to do with my statement? ED has given no assurance that these modules will be updated in the future. What IS known is that several RB developers have publicly stated they're quitting the project and one update cycle has already been missed. If they (ED) "know something" and can't tell us, they need to confirm future support if nothing else, which they have not. Otherwise, good business practice would be to place a disclaimer on their RB products to show their "commitment" to their customers, it's common sense and common decency. Surely that's not too difficult to wrap one's mind around.
-
The problem is ED is still selling these RB modules as if nothing is afoot. There should at least be a notification to potential new purchasers of the current uncertainty of future support. The statements of ED on the issue so far are inadequate in my opinion without at least posting a disclaimer.
