I have DCS installed on my fast M.2 Drive F:, but I noticed through Windows resource manager that DCS is accessing my slow mechanical D drive. It seems to be accessing D:\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS. How can I move that folder to my fast drive F:? I was getting a lot of stuttering and I noticed these drive accesses. If I alt + tab out of DCS the D drive activity stops. When I alt + tab back into DCS it starts accessing the D drive location again even though DCS is installed on my F M.2 drive. I think it's causing performance slowdown.

Well I'll be dipped, it'd be nice if that was made a bit more apparent. It works, but it still sounds like they are talking on comms so, kind of a miss if realism was what they were going for. -

In all other planes you don't have to have the canopy open and only have to have the engine off to repair. If you need to have the canopy open to talk to the ground crew in the A-4e that's a special case as far as I know, none of the other planes I own require that. I can't get the any of the radio comms to work in the A-4E after installed to latest version 2.0, I don't know what the problem is. I've tired in the quick missions as well as adding the plane to missions I've made myself and normally fly. What the heck is going on is the plane just bugged or what. My pilot will make the radio call but never any response from ground crew or ATC. I can't salute and launch off the carrier but that's it. Even when the plane is completely shut down it's not working. Worked fine in the old version. I complete uninstalled and reinstalled it but it's still not working. -

Can't re-arm re-fuel no matter what I do, what is the problem? -
I did, doesn't make what I said any less relevant.

OK so, just an update. I found a program called VoiceMacro, it's free not only does it allow key triggered macros but voice activated as well. It works perfectly in DCS and I've abandoned AutoHotKey as VoiceMacro does everything I need and more.

My question would be why are you trying to dissuade him from the Hornet? The Hornet, in my personal opinion, is like a combination of the Hog and the Viper with carrier capability. It's not the fastest, but it's excellent ground attack and can definitely handle it's own in BVR engagement and dogfights if the need arises. With the SLAM-ER you can set it's flight path to steer it around AA defenses and then take control to find targets of opportunity prior to impact from a huge distance. Overall, it's and excellent aircraft that provides a unique sim experience and will only be getting better as features are added. With the Hog, you're extremely limited as to the missions you can fly. Also, launching from, and landing back at the supercarrier after a successful mission is like nothing else. Oh and the Hornet, in the hands of a capable pilot, can take a Viper and anything else in a dogfight, it's by no means a slouch in the A/A role.

Aw, I was just having some fun is all. I get plenty of immersion with my current setup, though I'd suggest everyone trying out VR if they get a chance. As I think I mentioned earlier, I really love my VR headset for driving in Assetto Corse and Dirt Rally 2.0, but, for me at least, when I'm flying, I just prefer my 34 inch ultrawide monitor. 21:9 or greater is the way to go but if someone has a 16:9, VR is going to seem like even more of an upgrade.
-
My immersion is broken every time I hop in a new jet and realize it doesn't have a proper data cartridge. My immersion is broken every time I launch off the carrier deck and I'm not slammed back into my seat. Every time I pull a high G turn and don't have to grunt to keep from passing out, my immersion is kind of broken. I don't know though, some guys might tighten up and start grunting every time they pull high G's, you know, for immersion sake. My immersion is broken every time a SAM or Sidewinder blows me out of the sky and my body doesn't fly into a million pieces. Maybe I'll start throwing myself out of my chair and down the stairs for some haptic feedback, though that might damage my VR headset. My immersion is a bit broken every time the UPS guy brings a box with some new flight sim rig parts and rings the doorbell causing my dog to go crazy. But most of all, without fail, more than anything else, what breaks my immersion the absolute most, is when my wife pop's her head in the room and asks me what I want for dinner. What he said.

Yup, there is just nothing like the clarity, comfort, convenience and usability of a good monitor (ultrawide or superwide preferably) and head tracking. My VR headset hasn't been used in months I'm thinking about selling it if it wasn't for all the software on it and fun at parties. I will probably always be a monitor guy, unless I get a projection dome that is. Attest to this, Andre's software for both racing and flight sims is completely awesome. A bit pricey but totally awesome and he's a really great guy who is very attentive to his customers, I've spoken with him personally. I have two set ups, a Buttkicker 2 and one I compiled myself. I use both simultaneously, one for bass rumble working off a Soundblaster sound card I play the game sounds through and one that runs on the integrated motherboard sound device utilizing Andre's Simshaker modules for detailed event feedback. The ladder setup I put together from a 90 watt bass amp and 50 watt Dayton bass transducer, got both on Amazon. It was cheaper than the Buttkicker and dare I say, probably going to be more reliable in the long run. Lower gauge (fatter) wires aren't going to rob any power and will be more robust. I have a dedicated SB soundcard I use for my game/pc audio, I use the integrated motherboard sound card for the sim shaker running Andre's software and it works great, no need for two dedicated sound cards. Most important thing is that the impedance (Ohms) of the amp are equal to or lower than the impedance (Ohms) of the audio transducer or you'll burn up the amp. Running a 50 watt transducer on a 90 watt single channel amp is no problem, most of those transducers are rated in RMS power while the amps are usually listed at peak, but not always. Regardless, just don't overdrive your transducer, it's effectively a bass speaker without the voice cone so if you know anything about bass systems, yeah, it's the frequency as much as the power. Just start low and slow and work the setting up to a point that is acceptable for you. Also, if you use a 8 Ohm transducer on a 4 Ohm amp it isn't going to be giving you the full wattage anyways. Not to beat a dead horse but if you love VR in DCS, happy for you. I personally find VR perfect for sim racing but not much else, where you just settle into your car and don't really take your hands off the wheel. Also, in racing, you only look into the corners, with flight sims, to see a bandit behind you you have to shift in your office chair and cock your neck all the way back while keeping your hands on the controls and, while I know it's more of how real fighter pilots work, they also aren't sitting in office chairs that swivel with HOTA on the desk. Also, eating, drinking, alt tabbing and pulling up other windows, glancing at a second or third monitor with whatever data on it, taking notes, typing, etc. it's all much harder to near impossible in VR. Even itching your nose is a PITA.

Having the same problem, I don't think it's the script itself I think it's the hotkey press not making it out of DCS to trigger the macro in AutoHotKey. I found a work around but don't understand why it works. Make a second copy of your script and rename it "whatever 2". Then start script "whatever" and then "whatever 2" so they are both running at the same time. Now go into DCS and your hotkey will activate the script. It's not elegant but it works, now to find out why. My guess is DCS is blocking or intercepting the first script, by process name or on the keyboard code level, but when the script is run again under a second name DCS ignores it and does not block or intercept it for whatever reason. Now here is the strange part. I use Opentrack for head tracking which I run in the background while DCS is running. I have the 'num 5' key set in Opentrack to re-center my head tracker. This works fine, every time, and the key bind makes it out of DCS when in game to trigger a re-center head tracking action in Opentrack. On a side note, if DCS is running as admin 'num 5' will not make it out to trigger re-centering in Opentrack so both DCS and Opentrack are running on the regular permission level and it works fine. I'd like to know the mechanism behind the keystroke making it to Opentrack, It might be an issue where AutoHotKey's hotkey is working on a directX direct input level where Opentrack isn't, but I don't know how to examine the traffic, maybe Wireshark might be able to capture what's happening. I've read the suggestion that VoiceAttack works on both the Voice and key triggering level, but I cannot confirm this as I don't have the software. Apparently VoiceAttack can trigger macros and actions via voice input but keyboard input as well more like a traditional macro program. I might have to buy it and check it out myself. Let me say, to my understanding, Opentrack uses the same protocol to communicate with DCS as Naturalpoint's Track IR, so there is, at least for Track IR, built in code for working with DCS natively. That being the case, I'm wondering if ED has a deal or agreement with VoiceAttack that allows their software to also interface with DCS but attempt to block other programs from performing the same functionality in favor of promoting the use of a partners solution, but I digress. I wrote a simple batch file to start the two scripts, which are named differently but contain the same code, simultaneously. Once again, not the ideal solution but it works. Just for giggles, I'm going to run an empty script or one only containing the hotkey function to run side by side with one copy of the actual script containing the macro code and see if it still works, I'm guessing it will. I use this for my radar/weapon setup because ED still hasn't released a data cartridge which is mind boggling, how long has this been a fundamental necessity? I mean the JF-17 developers had to create one for their module themselves yet the official ED planes don't have the feature?

My vote's for the ED version. The only module I have on Steam is Blackshark and it's handling of the Blackshark II upgrade was and still is weird. It's like it constantly says I can install Blackshark even though I have Blackshark 2 installed, or something like that, I don't remember exactly I just know the handling of it is strange and it's still disorderly, at least looks wise, though it does work fine in DCS.

Where do new players go to meet and fly with new players?

Will this only work for single player? How would you call the script on demand during startup in multiplayer sessions? I was trying to accomplish this with AutoHotKey and it was working but stopped suddenly and I don't know why. The key bind to run the macro isn't making it out of DCS to the AutoHotKey script anymore. It wasn't because of an update or anything, I was editing the script, adding to it after I had it working and then it just stopped working altogether and I can't figure out why. The script works, if I hit the hotkey for the macro in say notepad, but as said, the hotkey isn't making it out of DCS anymore or the keystrokes aren't making it from the script into DCS. I had that problem with Opentracker once, where the recenter key wasn't making it out of DCS but solved it by making sure DCS was NOT running as administrator. Still, I can't seem to figure it out. So to recap, Opentracker recenter key which is my num 5 key, makes it out of DCS when playing and recenters my headtracker, but Shift+q isn't making it out of DCS to invoke the macro, or at least seems that way, it might be making it out but the macro strokes aren't making it in to DCS then. Funny because I have the script running now and even trying to type 'shift+q' it starts running the macro, here it is in action D1122. From the thread, it sounds like VoiceAttack commands make it out of DCS and into the VoiceAttack when not focused. I'd chalk it up to DCS blocking the keystrokes but it was working just last night and then something went wrong and now nothing, no matter what script I try to activate. I might have to try another macro program. Mind you, my intent isn't to cheat or game the game, I simply get tired of having to perform the same function like setting up my weapons and radar EVERY time I hop in the jet for the first time or respawn. We should have this functionality in a Data Cartridge by now, it's ridiculous and been far too long, but it is what it is.

We need diagonal movement binds for 8 way hat switches as well, not everyone has another axis to assign to get diagonal slewing.

fixed "LOST" indication on HUD after shooting in TWS
rfxcasey replied to NoJoe's topic in Bugs and Problems
So, has this been fixed or what cause I got this the other day when firing AMRAAMs and was like WTF, cause I was still dead head on at the target in an STT lock at around 20 miles. Missile seems to have completely lost track right off the rail. Seems to happen every time. -
Is there no way to slew the Throttle Designator Control diagonally with an eight way hat switch? The only digital controls for slewing are horizontal and vertical, which means if you are using a hat switch and push in one of the diagonal positions the cursor just stops. This makes slewing slower since most slew will take place in an L shaped movement rather then being able to slew directly to a contact diagonally. It also adds to the possibility that when slewing the cursor can hang and stop moving if a diagonal is accidentally pushed. To the best of my knowledge, the slew axis commands, which do allow for diagonal slewing, cannot be bound to a digital input source such as an eight way hat switch. I feel this puts us that only have 8 way switches to use at a preventable disadvantage. Can ED please add the four digital key binds for up left, up right, down left and down right Throttle Designator Control?

Ah, I kind of figured it out. It appears that the waypoints on the data page of the DDI inherit their titles or types from the 'Name' parameter of the waypoints created in the mission editor and NOT the type parameter. Apparently only the first 5 letters make it over to the actual aircraft computer so if you create a waypoint e.g. waypoint 1 in the mission editor and name it Attack, waypoint 1 on the DDI data page will be titled "Attac". It looks like there is currently no way to name waypoints manually in the jet, nor alter the existing titles. If you create new waypoints in the jet's computer through the DDI they will not have a title at all. Oh well, I was just curious.
-
Is there a way currently to change a waypoint's type using the DDI? I want to re-designate an existing waypoint to a turn point from an attack point.
-
Yeah, the throttle control lights up blue when I move it in the Logitech/Saitek profile software and under the test window for the controller in joy.cpl it's there too and seems to be working fine. It's just DCS that's being weird about it.

So, I'm not sure which update possibly caused this issue, but when I look at my X52 z axis assignment, it shows the z axis on the X52 working, but if I delete the assignment and then attempt to reassign the axis, DCS doesn't register the axis at all. So it works, I can see the throttle white bar move in the controls overview, but if I try to reassign it DCS does not accept the axis when I move it to assign as a control. If I clear the assignment the axis goes away and I can no longer reassign it to the throttle or anything else. If I restart DCS the control axis is back but still can't change it or it breaks again. Rescanning devices does nothing. I say a possible update broke this because I never had this problem with DCS and the X52 before very recently.
