Iranian official, says this morning, It was not a missile but mechanical failure of the aircraft and pilots attempted to turn back.

You still offshore mate? Southern Sector?
I gave up on the rigs, now on a vessel for tax reasons :)
No, I've done my bit for the economy.
East and South coast and Northern Europe for 30 years or so.
Now flying my favourite. The Harrier. :pilotfly:

There is a training mission available for the Sidearm. I've never used that mission, but briefly, Sidearm won't work if there is no emmision.
It will detect the emmiter first from about 11 nm and then lock on. Then you can shoot.

Hello Dave.
All of my Lock On/DCS was learnt in a cabin off the East coast, A10A then Black Shark
That was 13 years ago. DCS just gets better.
Good Luck.

Of course the Harrier is worth half off.
This applies to all EA modules. They're worth half off.
When they become complete, they're worth full price.

I trim it to be close, then I stabilise the last bit with the stick. In hover flight it acts like a helicopter, meaning there is not real trimmed out flight. Therefore you can get it close and then you have to wrangle it the last bit.
Same here and it works well.

Helicopters on the Hermes, spawn correctly, but slide back on the deck at 0 kts, before taking off.
Update: Everything is now working well.
Stable version.

My 4 Harriers are taking off in pairs. The first one climbs, then jumps and goes into the sea. the rest circuit, then land and crash, without performing their mission.
Heicopters on the Hermes, slide back on the deck at 0 kts, before taking off.
Stable version.

maybe you're right, in any case i hope the pilots' feedback can help them especially for things like helicopters and ww2 airplanes
French airforce Pilots feedback has been recieved regularly, since the module came out, all stating it's exactly like the real thing.
Commercial pilot feedback has also been recieved, stating the oposite.
Who do you want to believe?
Demonstrating flying the machine inverted, or without a cyclic, had no effect on the argument.
You don't need to be a pilot to understand the physics involved in aircraft flight.

The Harrier spawns on the Stbd quarter for me perfectly well and always has done.
Bow spawn for the 72 version or 4 choppers.

Don't forget to add the misalignment of the gun to the list of faults.

It's now been a year since I bought the Harrier. half price for 28 smackers.
Was it worth it?...... Damn right it was.
I haven't flown anything else since, except to see if things still work.
Is it worth it?........ Damn right it is.

But when the TOO button generates a TP in mid air instead of the ground, it means its not working, and I can't use that bit of very useful IRL functionality.
That TOO button was fixed a long time ago.

SSD is the biggest single improvement I ever made for DCS and other games. I simply don't get stuttering, (SP).

Texture file now 346 mb.
All models now show in editor and no lock up on the map.
Still textures missing all over the place, especially the machinery and stbd flat sides. Big give away, is no mesh on the radar.

Same here.
Large number of textures missing.
Mission editor locks up with 81 version.
Download zip file is 338 mb. Is that correct?
Default texture file is smaller than original. 170 mb instead of 254 mb.

No, I am afraid I do not have either of them, please do post new tracks.
Su-24 v Pyotr V.
Kh 31P. Launch from 50 nm @ 40000'.

Here are my conclusions in another thread.
They are ai only. They rock when they try to make their profile but can't. they only have the booster and no motor, therefore range is limited. They can't be shot down. They are completely bugged.
The Kh-31A, on the other hand, is excellent.

This track was ready made, but if you haven't got the Harrier or Hermes, I will make another one.

It falls short of the target, because the ram motor doesn't start.
Drop it from 30000+ feet.

but I still find it not as precise as I would like. Its also showing its age with the rubber coating peeling off, and some of the axis getting very twitchy as well as a bit of throttle creep.
I think you've found enough reasons there, to convince your wife, you need a new stick. We've all done it. :megalol:

These were my findings in another thread.
SA-2 combo.
40000' Launch, 34 nm. (ECM 21.0 nm).
30000' Launch, 25 nm. (ECM 16.0 nm).
10000' Launch, 19 nm. (ECM no launch / 6.5 nm).
500'. No launch.
You don't need any countermeasures with this one, it will never hit you. Missile will always pass behind. Devs say, it's working as intended.
Found a plane it can kill. A-10 is slow enough for it to get near enough, but not in a crossing situation. Load the Harrier with a decent weight to slow it down and it might have a chance. Pity such a good looking rocket, has such poor performance in DCS.

The gun pipper being above the velocity vector is wrong. Razbam has pointed this out themselves long ago. But the problem is/was at the ED side. Apparently they can't set the angle of a gunpod relative to the waterline of the aircraft. Since the Harrier points upwards a fair bit, you end up with the gun shooting quite high. Good for dogfights, but pucker-factor inducing for strafing
Well that explains it all and why I couldn't replicate RL profiles correctly.
This doesn't bode well, as a similar situation occured with the Hawk, when the gun went out of alignment years ago after an update. It was never fixed.
Note: The gun boresight, should be 2 deg. below the waterline.

I've been trying to find out if this is correct behaviour for some time, because it doesn't look like the view in "A Manual".
A rather uncomfortable situation in a shallow dive.

Ukraine Boeing 737 with at least 160 aboard crashes
in Military and Aviation
Posted
A Ukrainian aircraft which crashed earlier this week in Iran had flown close to a sensitive military site belonging to the elite Revolutionary Guards and was shot down unintentionally due to human error, the Iranian military said in a statement read on state TV on Saturday.
The responsible parties would be referred to a judicial department within the military and held accountable, the statement said.
All 176 people on board were killed in the crash. The Iranian military statement expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
The United States and Canada had said that the plane was shot down, a claim Iran had initially denied.
