  1. A Ukrainian aircraft which crashed earlier this week in Iran had flown close to a sensitive military site belonging to the elite Revolutionary Guards and was shot down unintentionally due to human error, the Iranian military said in a statement read on state TV on Saturday.

The responsible parties would be referred to a judicial department within the military and held accountable, the statement said.

All 176 people on board were killed in the crash. The Iranian military statement expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

The United States and Canada had said that the plane was shot down, a claim Iran had initially denied.

  2. There is a training mission available for the Sidearm. I've never used that mission, but briefly, Sidearm won't work if there is no emmision.

It will detect the emmiter first from about 11 nm and then lock on. Then you can shoot.

  3. I trim it to be close, then I stabilise the last bit with the stick. In hover flight it acts like a helicopter, meaning there is not real trimmed out flight. Therefore you can get it close and then you have to wrangle it the last bit.

Same here and it works well.

  4. maybe you're right, in any case i hope the pilots' feedback can help them especially for things like helicopters and ww2 airplanes

French airforce Pilots feedback has been recieved regularly, since the module came out, all stating it's exactly like the real thing.

Commercial pilot feedback has also been recieved, stating the oposite.

Who do you want to believe?

Demonstrating flying the machine inverted, or without a cyclic, had no effect on the argument.

You don't need to be a pilot to understand the physics involved in aircraft flight.

  5. It's now been a year since I bought the Harrier. half price for 28 smackers.

Was it worth it?...... Damn right it was.

I haven't flown anything else since, except to see if things still work.

Is it worth it?........ Damn right it is.

  6. Screenshot please.

Saving it in the saved games folder or root folder?

    Saved games/DCS.

(Changed to before and after, midday views).

Detailing missing on winches, crane and various island equipement. Hull sides and doors much darker than island and deck.

  7. Here are my conclusions in another thread.

They are ai only. They rock when they try to make their profile but can't. they only have the booster and no motor, therefore range is limited. They can't be shot down. They are completely bugged.

The Kh-31A, on the other hand, is excellent.

This track was ready made, but if you haven't got the Harrier or Hermes, I will make another one.

  8. These were my findings in another thread.

    SA-2 combo.

    40000' Launch, 34 nm. (ECM 21.0 nm).

    30000' Launch, 25 nm. (ECM 16.0 nm).

10000' Launch, 19 nm. (ECM no launch / 6.5 nm).

    500'. No launch.

You don't need any countermeasures with this one, it will never hit you. Missile will always pass behind. Devs say, it's working as intended.

Found a plane it can kill. A-10 is slow enough for it to get near enough, but not in a crossing situation. Load the Harrier with a decent weight to slow it down and it might have a chance. Pity such a good looking rocket, has such poor performance in DCS.

  9. The gun pipper being above the velocity vector is wrong. Razbam has pointed this out themselves long ago. But the problem is/was at the ED side. Apparently they can't set the angle of a gunpod relative to the waterline of the aircraft. Since the Harrier points upwards a fair bit, you end up with the gun shooting quite high. Good for dogfights, but pucker-factor inducing for strafing

Well that explains it all and why I couldn't replicate RL profiles correctly.

This doesn't bode well, as a similar situation occured with the Hawk, when the gun went out of alignment years ago after an update. It was never fixed.

Note: The gun boresight, should be 2 deg. below the waterline.
