Even if i set minimum graphics or the low vr preset it's still far below 90 around bases or close tp ground. I guess it's just about playable for you with rift. More efficient drivers plus ASW. Dcs 2 runs better for me but i haven't tested it with ryzen 1700 yet. Won't be able to for a few weeks now because I'm away from home doing a shitty job.

Is this combination playable for anyone with HTC Vive? I have a GTX 1070 and Ryzen 1700 overclocked to 3.9ghz. Windies 10. Framerate of 24 around airbases. Was the same with my old i5 2500k at 4.8ghz on gtx 1070. So I'm curious to know if anyone with a modern Intel CPU and Vive can get 90 fps with Mig 21. More modern aircraft with glass cockpits give smooth framerate in vr. EF2000 for example. This question is also applicable to Octopus CV1 users too. If you have dcs 1.5 plus mig 21... What frame rate do you get with rift?

Slightest thing causes the training session to end with no explanation. Told to Shift-R to restart. Completed the required pre-take off list up to the canopy open... After opening canopy the message telling me to open canopy hangs there forever until I roll the plane forward slowly. When I roll the plane forward the training fails with no explanation. What gives?

I found one post on this but it didn't solve anything. Just arguing over Vive versus Octopus Rift. Some textures on dials aren't clear enough to read even with textures set high. Vive user...

Fact: Performance depends on the aircraft cockpit complexity. Mig 21 full of analog dials can be too much for older processors. EF 2000 with glass cockpit is much less of a burden.

Yup, have now installed aircraft module. :) -
Master Server Down?

Attached my autoupdate_log.rar Still takes ages to login and still fails on the modules page. So just to recap: Login on main page of DCS World takes longer than normal and sometimes fails. If I go to modules page I get: "An error occurred while receiving data, try later." I am unable to download and install a recently purchased aircraft. Aircraft are listed on the modules page when I hit refresh but the Viggen I purchased isn't showing as purchased. autoupdate_log.rar -

Master Server Down?

Aha. Yes, it did seem to be very slow accessing. Thanks for info. I go away for 3 weeks and the first time I access DCS the server goes insane. :) :music_whistling: -

An error occurred while receiving data, try later. Updated 1.5 to latest version. After updates completed and sim loads... keeps saying "An error occurred while receiving data, try later." on the modules page. Then shows the modules but I can't install the Viggen module purchased recently.... Only shows the purchase option. If I refresh the Modules page it says An error occurred while receiving data, try later. Does the same on DCS 2 as well. Windows 10. -
Also need F4 Phantom.

That's great news! Count me in.

Tornado. English Electric Lightning. Harrier. Actually I would say Harrier would be a great choice.

CPU performance question for VR user
grammaton_feather replied to grammaton_feather's topic in Virtual Reality
ATW works automatically since Oculus CV1. It's easy to see the effects of ATW... Your frame-rate might be below 90 but head-tracking will be smooth. I was a DK2 user until a few months ago and ATW made a massive difference. DCS 1.5 had been unplayable on my then GTX 970. ATW made it much smoother. Head movement judder renders a game unplayable. It's so ugly to see and it totally ruins gameplay. I don't think there's any switch to disable/enable ATW... you could install a pre CV1 runtime like .801 to see how VR was before ATW. Unless your PC is grossly under-powered you shouldn't have any judder with Oculus on DCS. -
CPU performance question for VR user
grammaton_feather replied to grammaton_feather's topic in Virtual Reality
Well... I've been on DCS 1.5 today with the same SU25T anti-sam practice mission and no sign of judder. What's changed? No GPU overclock. Default 1070 clocks. -
CPU performance question for VR user
grammaton_feather replied to grammaton_feather's topic in Virtual Reality
Yes, the minimum in each case is significantly below 90 threshold. Average is much higher for latest gen CPU so the question is how much it would dip below that average. But yes, as you say, problem is largely due to DCS lack of optimization. I've been checking stats for other games and sims... Project Cars also fares much better with skylake 6700k compared to my gen CPU. Some games as well. -

Hmmm, looks like you're right. I'm gonna have to ditch my existing bits right down to my Swiftech waterblock :( -

4.8ghz though... But I guess like you say... 4 generations behind... older fabrication, cache, lack of hyperthreading... -
I'm running DCS 1.5 and 2.0 on an i5 2500k @ 4.8ghz with 32gb ram @ 2133mhz... My GPU is a GTX 1070 @ 2035mhz. HTC Vive. Windows 10. I understand that DCS uses a single core and that DCS 1.5 is more CPU hungry than GPU... On DCS 1.5 I get an FPS drop below the required 90 (VR remember) when sitting on runway on for example the SU25T Anti Radar Missile Practice. With zero AA and lowest settings I still get judder until I take off and fly clear of the airbase. My FPS on the runway is about 75. With Vive there is judder whenever FPS drops below 90. We know that DCS 1.5 isn't overly demanding on GPU.. We know DCS 1.5 uses only 1 core... However... windows still runs background processes and since I'm running an old CPU even at 4.8ghz with no Hyperthreading... I suspect my FPS isn't as high as it could be. I recently read a post on another flightsim (IL2 BOS) with new experimental Vive support... Someone tested it and posted his feedback on a forum. IL2 is really unplayable at this stage on my system because even on lowest settings the judder is severe... The guy who posted his findings said he also needed lowest settings but found it playable. Didn't mention any judder. He has a GTX 980 but his CPU is much more modern and with HT: i7 4790K Is my CPU holding me back?

Will DCS support the VR optimization of the 10xx series?

Will DCS support the VR optimization of the 10xx series?
grammaton_feather replied to Kirin's topic in Virtual Reality
1000 series contains some important VR features. Multi-projection means much more efficient VR rendering with much lower overhead. -
Super-sampling. If you have a GTX 970 you can forget about any SS. DCS 1.5 drops below 90 fps on a GTX 1070 running at 2035mhz with no AA and no SS. The problem is around airbases and when you're on the runway on some missions. GTX 1080 wouldn't fare much better. DCS 2 runs a lot better. What's really needed is DX12 and the new mult-projection features on 1070/1080.

You can change the cockpit resolution in options yes? DCS in VR is essential for me. I won't go back to non-VR.

Are you using VR Headset (Oculus Rift, Vive, etc) in DCS?
grammaton_feather replied to Kuky's topic in Virtual Reality
I've been using Oculus DK2 for a year and now moved on to Vive. I was tired of gaming on a small rectangular window many years before Oculus was ever heard of. I owned PC3d (IO-Systems) back around 2007 and that had awful image quality and no head-tracking and tiny field of view but it gave a glimpse of the future of gaming. The future is now and I am dressed in a tin-foil space suit. DCS World in VR is the most amazing VR experience. Actually I will say that DCS Nevada in particular. I'm going to use the Las Vegas tour flight and let people experience it on my Vive with body vibration. I would never go back to non-vr gaming/simulation. -
Will DCS support the VR optimization of the 10xx series?
grammaton_feather replied to Kirin's topic in Virtual Reality
GameworksVR 1000x series GPU features Would be great to see the new hardware VR features at some point. DCS 1.5 suffers from judder even on a 1070 @ 2035mhz with AA disabled (on some missions around airbase). http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/technology/vr/technology DCS 2 has better performance. Nevertheless... would still be nice to have that boost from VR hardware specific features. Steamvr Actually it's just occurred to me.. is this something steamvr needs to support? If so then it's doomed. Or can it be implemented in DCS and still work via steamvr? :)
