  1. Is it a good plane, or are you up against bad missiles ? A radar guided missile that can be evaded by an infared jammer doesn't present much challenge !
  2. Hi all, don't want to beat a dead horse here, but I have a question. I am fully aware of some of the radar / missile bugs or flukes. I was online the other night and while in the F-15 came up upon a Mig 25T. I am sure the guy saw me as he kind of leisurely notched me. I still kept the aspect well enough to keep a lock on him, flew to within about 7 nm or so, became visual, still locked up launched two slammers and two Aim 7's at him. He did not appear to do anything but notch somewhat. Every missile easily missed him with no apparant evasive manuevering, so then he pulls his nose toward me and launches a heater and kills me. Is the 25 a better air to air fighter than the F15 is ? Plus notching may work sometimes but is it automatic ? especially close in. Please explain ... and after patches, etc will the 15 be able to hold it's own against the 25 ? Also, when I asked the guy how he defeated the missiles, he said that he was using the IR Jammer ????? Should that work against radar guided missiles ?
  3. I have followed the forums for quite some time and even remember seeing the post with the list of fixes, but I cannot find it right now. Search works, but if you don't know the name of the thread, you'll likely not find it (in any reasonable amount of time). Don't sweat the rude answers you've been given so far, they are not representive of all of us, I can't find it either .. keep looking and you'll find it, if I find it first, I'll post a link to it.
  4. Yes, it's 1640 x something or other .. very high
  5. I have this problem I'm trying to troubleshoot. It's somewhat well known but I've never seen a fix for it. I have a Dell Dimension Pentium 3 Ghz 800 mhz FSB, 1 gig Ram, ATI X800 x 256 AGP, Dell 20 inch widescreen DVI Monitor. A friend of mine has a different computer but very similar specs including monitor size. Flying at each other, when the textures (aircraft) begin to first load, they appear as dots in the sky. For my friend, it's at 14 nm, for me it's at 8 nm. Around two nm for me, the texture is drawn some more and I sometimes lose site while this is happening, for my friend, I believe it's around 3 nm. At 4 nm or so, my friend can tell that I'm an F-15 and which way I'm turning (I presume he zooms in a bit). I do not have this level of detail at this point. To summarize, everything that he sees, I don't see till much later. We have compared all kinds of settings and had no luck. Does anyone have anything helpful to say about this ? (Please don't tell me anything about real world ability to see aircraft, as I don't fly against any real F-15's very much). Thanks
  6. Sorry guys if I missed something, but what exactly is the future (long and short term) for upgrades to the F-15C ?
  7. That is something I will try ... as far as the real world visiblility goes, I fly .. quite a bit. I would never fly again if I could not see aircraft till they were within one mile!
  8. I'm aware that the sky is big and the aircraft is small. I'm talking about distances where yoiu should easily be able to keep view of your wingman. Seems like there are various stages of texture loading and one of them is causing me to not see the other aircraft. I'm pretty sure that while flying in tactical formation you can see your wingman or they wouldn't fly in tactical formation. An F15 at 4000-6000 ft abreast should be very easy to see ... in the game, it is not. This is my problem, anybody ?
  9. I'm having alot of trouble spotting other aircraft in the game. It seems like a texture loading issue, I can be looking right at the aircraft at 1 mile of even closer, as the aircraft gets a little farther out it just kind of disappears and blends into the background. This makes things really difficult when flying even tactical formations. Can't keep the other player in view very well. Has anybody else experienced this ?
  10. It is fun! We try to go so far as to use correct communications and brevity codes, visual signals for formation changes, fence checks, BDA, etc. Alot to learn, but really interesting stuff!
  11. Hello, I'm trying to gather up a regular 4 some of online pilots for some extremely realistic training in the F-15. Myself and another person have been flying countless hours on a regular basis training in formation, BVR, Guns, defensive tactics based on real world training. We have an excellent source of real world material to guide us through the training and thusfar, it has been very successful. We are ready to add two more to the formation and begin work on 4 ship training and tactics. It would be preferable to find another pair that have been flying together and understand the basics of flying the F15. If there is such a duo out there and you are interested in the finer details of realistic training, please post here and or IM me. Thanks
