  1. That gives me hope...
  2. Good information, thanks...
  3. Just tested it out on the latest DCS version and found no issues. I have prepared a new version 1.977, which is not tested extensively. This version should be used only, if all other measures fail. Before you install this pre-beta, please check with the old version the communication with all buttons switched off in the quality management. Last not least, if someone uses Windows 10, I cannot ensure the proper functionality of Aries Radio for the moment. I tried to change over three times, only to get message “Windows 10 cannot run on this hardware”. And this after 16 hours installation with every trial!!:bomb: But I do not give up… If someone has experience with Windows 10 and Aries Radio, please post it here. The pre-beta version is available as download at: http://www.ariescon.com/AriesWingsRadio1.977.zip
  4. If the radio panel does not come up then you should check the following: Did you install Aries Radio with administrator rights? Otherwise, some registry entries are not set correctly. Is AriesAirborneRadio.dll available in DCS World\AriesWings ? Is AriesRadio.lua available in DCS World\AriesWings ? Does export.lua contain the line dofile("./AriesWings/AriesRadio.luac") ? You find export.lua in C:\Users\[user name]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts. Inspect the text file C:\Users\[user name]\Saved Games\DCS\logs\dcs.log. If any problems are caused by the Aries Software, you will find it here in. Normally anywhere at the end of the file. Finally, check the registry entries: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ AriesWings\DCSWorldPath HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AriesWings\DCSSavedGames Both should show the correct path to the DCS World installation and to the SavedGames folder. If you do not see the Aries registry key then check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\AriesWings If you start TeamSpeak later on, make sure, that even TeamSpeak is started with administrator rights by Default.
  5. Complains received, working on it... sorry
  6. Just tested it out. Version 3.0.17 of TeamSpeak works together with the current Aries Version 1.976 / 1.976a.
  7. Check the geographical location of the receiving GossipBox. It shold be in the radio range of all participants. if that is not possible then follow the advice to switch off the range degradation.
  8. This procedure is a bit tricky. On your own computer, where Fraps is running, you will not get any recorded voice in Fraps automatically. Even if you catch the TeamSpeak output. That is, because the voice packages are created in TeamSpeak. Your own voice output is suppressed in TeamSpeak while you hold the mic button down. I have no clue whether Fraps allows to mix in an audio stream in an existing video file. If yes, I would recommend to start a GossipBox on a second computer. Set the desired frequencies on listening watch. Activate voice recording in TeamSpeak on the computer where the GossipBox runs. The result is a voice recording containing all participant voices and background noises of the session. In a second step you need to combine the Fraps video recording with the TeamSpeak voice recording. I use Corel Video Studio Pro X8. It covers all the features I need to follow the described procedure, inclusive the video capture.
  9. In my last post I tried to answer only the question about Lat/Long and a possible link to nautical miles. Nevertheless, it makes no sense to have different types for units. A common standard is the best argument. I remember the time when I was on a navigation course. We were tortured with navigation problems consisting of countless different measurement units as input arguments. During the last decades there were several attempts to change over to the metric system. The result is was a mix of units but no consequent migration. We have hecto Pascal instead of inches and for visibility we use kilometers instead of nautical miles. For me, it was a settling down to use imperial units. But after a while, it became hard to think in other units. Especially when estimating distances to objects. Finally it is more or less tradition, no technical reason, to stay with imperial units. It is even a question of money to change all the instruments in an aircraft. From my point of view the metric system would make more sense because the entire technical world uses the metric standard (if you are not in a business with the US or England). After the second world war, when the aviation was rebuild in Germany, the entire education was up to the US and partly to England. So it is no magic, that Germany uses the same standards as used in the US. During a stay in US, I had the chance to work together with US military tower controllers and had a visit at their ATC academy. It was interesting to observe, that the procedures and the phraseology I have learned, matches still one to one to the todays US procedures. I am afraid, that the big change comes not before England changes over to drive on the right side.
  10. One degree along a meridian or great circle corresponds to 60 NM. Means, one minute is a NM. A difference in longitude decreases towards the poles. The rough calculation would be Distance NM = Difference degrees in longitude * cos(latitude) * 60. The circumference of the earth globe would be 360 * 60 = 21600 NM. This distance varies because the globe is not a perfect sphere.
  11. @terence44 You get this message obviously while opening the menu item ‘Export.lua entry on/off’. To execute this service, Aries needs to know the location of the Export.lua script. The path is taken from the registry. Locate Export.lua on your computer. The standard location is: C:\Users\[user name]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts When you find your export.lua, compare the found location with the path entry in the registry. The registry entry can be found at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AriesWings\DCSsavedGames The data string found there should be C:\Users\[user name]\Saved Games\DCS (Scripts folder is not part of the path). If the two paths are ok then check , whether you started TeamSpeak with administrator rights. If not, right click the TeamSpeak Icon on your desktop and click the ‘Advanced’ button. Set the check mark for ‘Run as Administrator’. If the two paths do not match, you can manually enter the correct path in the registry. But remember, the path goes down to ‘C:\Users\[user name]\Saved Games\DCS’ only, not including ‘Scripts’. In the latter case, you had already a problem during the installation. This comes up usually, if the installation was executed without administrator rights. Microsoft has a strong security paranoia which prevents the access to the registry and to some system folders, if you do not have administrator rights. Even if you are logged in as administrator, you must have the permission for each single application in addition.
  12. Nothing really important. The Radio experienced some bug fixes and extensions. The main focus is on the radar application. I am working on a solution, which makes the system usage safe and simple. I have always the Norwegian environment in mind, where it is possible to have 30 users at a time. Such a situation must be covered safely. As soon as we have a stable version we will contact you.
  13. Sorry, the Mig15 is not supported up to now.

    Cockpit

  17. We use the built-in TeamSpeak recording. The tricky thing is to do the recording on a second computer with TeamSpeak and Gossip Box enabled. This is necessary to get the background noise of all participants. If you would do it on your simulation computer, the own voice would be recorded without any modification, because most of the modifications are mixed in on the receiver side. The resulting WAV file can then be mixed into your video.
  18. excellent...
  19. The bug comes up on some computers only and seems to depend on clock timing. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the bug on my machines. Therefore, it is almost impossible to trace the situation. Furthermore, DCS organizes its application in a way, that debugging external mods are simply impossible. For the next release I will change over to the latest VC++ 2013 libraries. There is a little chance, that the bug will disappear with the upgrade. Nevertheless, I will keep an eye on it.
  20. @Grand, I would need the version number of Aries Radio and the information, which other mods you are using. If you are using version 1.976, did you install the bug fix mentioned in post #1022 ?
  21. Because of Jeepyb’s report, I debugged the Gossip Box Configurator. The bug was caused by a format mismatch in the aerodrome data. The result was a wrong aerodrome location if the button ‘Select an Aerodrome location’ was used. In a less serious case it caused an out of range distance between transmitter and receiver. In the worst case, it caused TS and/or the configurator to crash. For all Gossip Box user, there is a repaired Configurator available as download at: http://ariescon.com/GossipBoxConfigurator.zip The new configurator even allows the free naming of profiles.
  22. The quality calculation is done in the TS plugin DLL. To take over the ‘Game Master’ and to unpush the buttons: After mission start, changeover to TeamSpeak. From the menu line openPlugins\Aries Radio\Radio Communication Quality. In the upcoming dialog push ‘Game Master’ Unpush the 6 buttons in the lower button row Push the send button. Start your tests Remember, do not use PTT before all buttons are unpushed. The quality dialog is available only during a running mission.
  23. The only function, which is critical with PTT is the com quality calculation. I would suggest: Before the first radio transmission is done, take over the ‘Game Master’ Unpush all buttons in the lower button row. Push the send button to make the changes active. Now test the PTT. If TS does not crash anymore reactivate the buttons one by one to see when TS crashes again. If you find the blamed button, send me a short note.
  24. @Classydjo You probably use version 1.976? We encountered a bug in the TS plugin DLL. The bug is caused by a wrong protocol application. As a quick repair, a download file is prepared at: http://ariescon.com/ariesradio.zip The ZIP file contains AriesRadio.dll. It shall replace the file with the same name in C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\plugins The file has the internal version number 1.976a. If you use an older version, please upgrade the entire software to version 1.976a. It can be loaded down from: http://ariescon.com/index10.html Take care, that all participants use the same Aries Radio version. We had a session yesterday night with the latest DCS version. It all worked normal.
  25. A couple of years ago I did the same with a F104 PHI. The problem was speed and precision. The solution I used was a worm gear. It gave 40 times more precision and torque. The remaining problems were speed and cooling. The precision you need for a bearing pointer or a horizon should be less than 0.2 degree. Over all, it worked successfully. To move the pointers with an acceptable speed, it needs a tricky software. The steppers I used, caused a lot of heat. Therefore the holders made as coolers.
