  1. I'm assuming there's a way to do that, since the default A-10C controls recognize that. But when I map controls for other aircraft they only see the switches as buttons; in other words pushing the switch up makes something turn on, but instead of pushing it back down to turn them off I have to push it down and then up again.
  2. Not actual training missions, like with the voice over and such. Just regular missions called things like 'laser guided missile practice' or 'gun and rocket practice' where they set up targets that don't attack you, to practice on.
  3. I just started using the Su-25T last night and I've experienced two crashes (to desktop) so far. One was the instant I released an unguided bomb in the unguided bombs training mission. Unfortunately because I'm a newb with this plane I don't know which bomb it was. Just now, it was in the mission 'presents' while time accelerating from the airport to waypoint one in nav mode. My system is: Windows 7 64-bit i5-2500k 3.3gigs 8 gigs of RAM GTX 570 card TM Warthog stick and throttle CH Pedals TrackiR5
  4. That's odd. And you've tried the controller in other games to make sure it's working properly too?
  5. I do agree, it doesn't make much sense to try to teach people how to shoot planes down if you haven't taught them how to catch them yet.
  6. I'm fairly new at DCS, so this is probably a dumb question, but... When I'm flying a mission and under fire, often times I'll hear a loud 'thunk' against the outside of my chopper. It's distinct from the 'tink tink' of bullets hitting it, and sounds kind of like someone jumping on the hood of a car. At first I thought it was supposed to be missile impacts but I don't seem to suffer much (if any) damage from it. Can anyone tell me what that is? Thanks.
  7. The two-operator nature of the Hind and Apache might make it an ill fit for DCS, at least until the AI is beefed up. Not that I wouldn't mind seeing one. Although I have to say that my vote would go toward the Apache rather then the Hind if we had to vote on one or the other.
  8. Make sure you have the control options menu set to either 'Ka-50: game' or Ka-50-sim', depending on which mode you play in. Also make sure that you're in the 'axis' section of the controls options menu. When you say you updated to the latest version, are you talking about the latest version of DCS World, or the latest version of the standalone Black Shark 2 client?
  9. I've read a couple of times that we shouldn't import our previous .lua files into DCS World. Will this cause harm to the game or will it just result in wonky controls? Will the A-10C still auto-detect a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog (my device)? Is there a place where we can go for updated profiles? I'm currently using GreyWo1f's Warthog profile for Ka-50. Thanks!
  10. Okay, are you saying that a p-51D new version was included in the DCS World 1.1.2.1 download, or I have to basically re-download p-51D? Thanks for the quick reply!
  11. Hey, I pre-purchased DCS P-51D a couple of weeks ago and installed DCS World. Today, I updated DCS World to v. 1.1.2.1, but now I can't fly the Mustang anymore. The only aircraft available to fly is the SU-25T. Any idea what the trouble is?

  13. I've had my TM Warthog for a couple of months now and now it's starting to feel a bit stickier than it was. When I got it was fine, so I figure it's probably a grease issue. What is an appropriate grease to use? Could greasing the top of the ball, where it's exposed, do anything, perhaps to avoid having to open the stick up? Thanks!
  14. Thanks for the reply! I was trying to just hold the mouse button and move the mouse up and down, rather than using the wheel. The knob to adjust the altitude alert dial on the left panel works like that. And thanks for making these tutorials. I think they're the best for a newb like me, since they cut out a lot of the unnecessary steps in startup and such.
  15. Hey, I'm using this startup training tutorial mission: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/144189/ It's really good, but my problem is that right after the engines are started up, the instructor says to turn the SAI dial (the one a bit above the map screen) until it is all the way down. However I cannot interact with the dial at all. I'm following the instructions thus far completely, so does anyone know what the problem might be?
  16. Will all mods developed for BS1 work for BS2, non of them, or is it mostly a case-by-case basis thing? Also, do scenery mods and such make it difficult to find servers online? I know a couple of games where installing mods makes servers reject you, while others simply have the server dictate what files are used. Thanks!
  17. I just started flying BS2 about a week ago (despite having the game for months), and I have to say I'm enjoying it a lot more A-10C. Not that that games bad (it's amazing, in fact) but there's something very visceral about the Shark that is missing from the Warthog. Also, it reminds me of the fun I used to have as a kid playing a helicopter sim called Gunship (anyone familiar with it?) I pretty much have the weapons systems and general flying down pretty well, although I do still have a tendency to spaz out a bit during intense combat. Where's a good place for a feller such as myself to go online? Oh, one more thing. I dunno if it's appropriate to ask here since it's not an ED game, but is anyone familiar with the Camanche vs. Hokum simulator, known as EECH when fully modded? I've heard it's supposed to be good, and I'm itching to try out the American choppers. How does that game compare to BS2? Thanks!
  18. Why is that? Every other game I know of has everything on one EXE, and has an accessible options menu. (not trying to be a jerk just wondering how this came about.)
  19. Cool. Which profile are you using?
  20. Well, if it's a big deal to implement (I didn't think it would be) I would prefer if they not focus any effort on it and instead work on new aircraft and such...still, I think of it as an odd omission.
  21. Hey Grant. I have the same setup as you, CH pedals and TM Warthog HOTAS. When I first started the game with my setup it was all wonky, because the game has a tendency to set weird default controls. Make sure rudder functions aren't set to anything on the stick or throttle. Also I don't use any of the software that came with the pedals or HOTAS/throttle, just the stock Windows plug n' play drivers. Sorry I can't be of more help but if you have any questions about my setup feel free to ask. Hopefully you get it worked out because they're nice pedals once you get them going.
  22. It would make learning these sims much easier. Nothing's worse than flying a mission for a long time only to realize that you don't know what button to press to perform something important. It would make first time set up much easier also, especially considering the sizable load times between the game and the options menu currently. Thanks!
