  1. I completely agree! It just doesnt make sense to fly a long mission in MP where you strike & disable the enemy runway. Meanwhile you have someone reload the mission and take off right through a huge bomb crater only to shoot you down! Most multi player missions have no purpose, there is no goals, just people taking off and get shot only to rcvr immediatly. Therefore such strike missions are the only possible way to actually "achieve victory" but with this code atm its just not possible. The decals idea should definately be implemented, it would fix such bugs & it would definately save fps!
  2. Shaman, you said that this problem of yours has started to occur since the 1.12 patch. This might be a silly question, but did you try to just simply reinstall the whole thing all over again with a clean patch??
  3. Amazing as it might seem, but the 2gb swap file is indeed the solution for this. Just for the sake of it, while testing I tried turning off my swap file completely (2gb of ram) and the game does that to me on the 2nd spawn (just as u described). So I just set it back to 5gb that I always had it set on. (might be overkilling it but works fine for me). Cheers!
  4. Thnx for ur replies. It turns out I had my network file already tweaked in my lockon, so i sent him a copy. And it appears that it fixed the drop out problem and he is able to fly online now. I have a quetion about the game timeout & idle timeout settings are they counted in milliseconds? or issit just a value? the bigger the longer it waits before dropping right? Thx again for your help!
  5. I friend of mine is having this very weird problem, he is Running FC 1.11 on a pretty decent rig P4 3.2, 9800Pro 512meg ram. His load times are unbeliavably slow (no matter what precatching levels are set eg. 20km). I tried optimizing his system for the game such as disabling xp processes, running end-it-all, latest drivers etc etc but with little or no success. In SP this problem is still tolerable, only the first time the mission is launched it is slow, on the second run is much better. He is also getting pretty decent frames in-game.(med settings ~ 30fps down low & 50+ up high) so the gf card is workin fine... In multiplayer however he is unable to stay in the server as when he presses "fly" it takes ages to load, and when its done, he ends up with the "press S" screen. And is no more present in the server (time out drop i think). Anyway i saw a post about this problem here a while back, but that post has already been deleted. Does anyone know any solutions to this problem? Thanx Oh by the way, this has only recently occured since he installed his x45 and tweake the game alittle (fps tweaks, lua scripts etc) mabe thats where the problem lies...
  6. Hi JackHomer! Thnx for the reply. In fact I have been using your solution to this problem as well, i was just wondering if there is a way to just set it outright, so that when u center TIR it keeps a wider view angle. Apparently it seems like there is no way, or mabe we are missing something??
  7. OK guys, i think the method that Wombat used should work, but I think there is a little simpler way to do this. here is what I did to make it run: 1. Install lock on and update to 1.02 2. Copy the entire lockon folder (not necessary the Ubisoft folder, just the lockon main one) 3. Paste it in another place, you can rename it if you want. 4. Now you can just install FC ontop of the original location of 1.02 (the one you made copy of, it should auto install there anyway) 5. Now your are set. To run FC just run it normally, to run 1.02 just run the lockon.bat from your second location to wherever you copied it. Note: (MS-DOS batch file is located in the same place as the lockon.exe file. It looks like a window with a gear in it) 6. Optionally you can just make a shortcut to the lockon.bat file on your desktop & change the icon for it so it looks like a normal lock on shortcut. Name it Lock On 1.02 etc.. Hope that clears things! C ya in the virtual skies!
  8. Hello Wombat! Yes it is indeed possible, what you have to do is copy the whole 1.02 folder to another place, and then just run it from the lockon.bat file. 1.02 doesnt need any registry entries to run it, all you need is all the files in the folder and u are set! But dont forget, run it from the lockon.bat file. Hope that Helps!
  9. In FC 1.11 when using the Z (zoom) axis for the TIR4 the default view angle seems to be too narrow! When I center it it always comes back to that narrow spot, and I want it to be lot wider to start with. Any of you using TIR 3 or 4 have any suggestions? Perhaps mabe I am using a wrong profile setting? Any input will be appreciated! As it is quite annoying to play with the view so zoomed in to start with (i can barely c the rpm gauge). Thanx! And happy new year to all!
  10. Hello and Merry Christmas to everyone! I have here a simple question, it seems like in FC I am unable to increase my RPM to the full range of the scale, it only goes just little over the after-burner stage, in 1.02 u could go all the way... Am I doing somethin wrong here or is this a change in this version?? My throttle is working perfectly, and even tryin to increase it digitally with the keyboard gives the same result. Oh by the way I am flying the 27. Thnx for any help
  11. In 1.02 there was a clear way to change the default angle in the options. It seems that in 1.1 the view is permanently locked at 60. Is there a way to modify this? I would like to have a wider field of view to start with, and so far no luck in trying to modify it in the view.cfg file, it seems to do nothing even if the view angle is set to a higher value. Also there seems to be a weird graphic occurence while zooming out to a wider field of view, this was not present in 1.02. It happens in the lower corners of the screen when sitting on the tarmac, looks like some sort of clipping issue. Anyone has any feedback on this? Thanx
  12. Thanks for clearing this up for me, you are indeed right! Funny though as the box advertises "training with voice-overs" not "limited voice-over training". Anyway i got another question here. How is it possible to modify the default cockpit angle? In 1.02 there was clear way to do it in the options. Not the case in FC?? I tryed setting the default angle in the view.cfg (removed the slashes etc) I want to increase it from 60 to atleast 80 or so. However it seems to do nothing... Any Ideas? Thnx
  13. I know its probably got nothing to do with any bugs or anyhting like that, but I am bit confused here. After installing FC from LO:GOLD in the training there seems to be no voice whats so ever. Its running only with overhead text just like the 1.02 used to. Am I doing something wrong?? Thnx for the help.
