ECM implementation should be consistent across all platforms. No BS argument can go around this fact.

Modern ECM RL environment would probably make TWS at long range all but USELESS for both sides. It would probably also make long non STT 120 shots also pretty useless. As seeker lockon range would be reduced greatly.
At least we should have some form of ECM effect for REDFOR vs blue systems. The 15sec warmup is a complete joke, done for the sake of NATO fanboy cries back in the day. 0 realism logic was applied by ED.
So yes, Tek is spot on pointing out the double standards, whether you like it or not, GGTharos.
On top of this, the Russians are the ones constantly updating their ECM tech. Sorbitsya pods we have in DCS are old 90s shit. YET they are still very powerful pods. I think it only makes sense that Russians compensate their inferior missiles with better defensive doctrines and ECCM is #1 area for this.
So let's not kid ourselves. Remove 15sec warm-up and make ECM screw with TWS as it is designed to do in the first place. Those pods are not there just for pretty screenshots!! (How BLUE seem to think, all this while)

Of course MP. Why else do we want fixed missiles for!? Guys cmon....
If DCS had no MP I'd never be here to start with. Along with many others....
Priority is MP. That should be the baseline for all testing.

Since currently Aim120 in DCS picks target in lookdown tail chase at ~15-19km with 70 times smaller antenna area and much less powerful emitter... so ether Sukhoi is underpowered, or Aim120 is overpowered.... or probably both...
Indeed! We are not even talking about the possible effects of ECM and etc. Seems, 120 in game has a better radar lookdown than a Mig-29. Its actually quite ridiculous IMO.

It is the same for 27/33 radars too! They are underperforming by about 10-15% in lookdown based on manuals data.Speaking of MiG-29 radar, it would be nice if the high altitude ranges could be corrected finally.It is impossible to engage a target with R-27ER with the MiG-29 in DCS, especially the F-16, until you get really close, because the radar can not see it.
The detection ranges are too low compared to the real data, especially in lookdown.
Will ED look into this?

and so was HB's F-14 before this recent patch - but it's being fixed, so no worries.
Ermm no I think it just got fixed in the patch. Time to enjoy a better FM.

The turn rate of F15 is too good in DCS for the graphs too.
Anyway F14 finds its place in the BFM and BVR arena hopefully after all the dust settles. Not as a push one button fighter but actually a very specialized platform (as it was in Rl).

PS: will F14A Mach 3 be hotfixed soon? Also what about the silent Pheonixes?

A nice bug to have for BLUEFOR.If so, then this is a bug.IMO this should be a priority fix. STT with 120s not giving LW.

I don't think Rd 1 was won by blue at any point in time. Was more or less in the balance still. But random failures grounded all our flankers from the getgo in that round.
Migs took off with EOS and Engine troubles. It was pretty nuts.
However it was still a lot of fun and congrats to all on Redfor for a job well done.
Frankly I don't know why some blue ran off on restart especially that it was them asking for a 20z start time! In my timezone that's 4am. But whatever.
Fun event guys, and looking forward to more!

Thanks for the clarification BN.
In light of this I propose that we fly this event without ECM and Chaff. I think that would ensure fairest competitive environment for all platforms.

Great, can we actually get a clarification from ED on how they intend to model ECM to affect missile tracking performance?brief update, my last comment was incorrect, I've been made aware of a reported issue. I will chase it up in the morning. I'm currently in bed :)Also can we get an update when ED will fix the SARH Chaff bug?
IMO both are crucial issues that potentially affect gameplay (especially MP competitive) that need to be addressed.
The latter issue has been reported for YEARS, without ever a finger lifted.
Fix SARH missiles!

I am reviewing the ECM problem.
Is the chaff problem being reviewed as well then? I dont think you need documentation for that as its been confirmed by ED as WIP to fix on missiles thread.

Well put Coxy. If ECM is "bugged" for actually doing something as it should, making people support their missiles or risk reducing Pk. Whilst chaff is completely broken for SARH guidance, which is a confirmed bug by ED, yet is still being used. Where is the logic?
In any case, Im all for to fly without ECM and Chaff. Either both are in or both should be out

Yes thats what I mean, which setting controls the distance blend of smoke or LODs. Any ideas? Like a smoke draw distance setting? Ill test the difference between say Ultra and High and see if that changes something... just the fps is a concern

Smoke stacks on the ground from whatever the destroyed object. They tend to just vanish and come back at certain FOVs, distances (when zooming). Which settings control that? I think default ones blend in much better... I suppose it is related to terrain41 settings?Hard to respond to that. I'm not sure what you're referring to as "plumes". Vehicle or building or airplane or clouds? Which version of the game and the mod?
I'm running OB latest obviously. V6 MP, High vis settings with Mustangs shaders mod.

Hi guys, any good way to improve on that blue ring around the horizon at altitude? seems like DCS is clipping the terrain.

I noticed smoke plumes disappear in and out of distance at certain angles? any particular setting for clipping that might cause this?

Exactly. We can never have them right. But at least based on Official manuals they need to match the perf charts.
F16 is way overmodelled
Mig-29 is way below par
Mig-29S is ABYSMAL
F15 Probably a little undermodelled, same as Su-27/33 family (but not really critical)

Who says FC3 not gonna be touched? The Mig flight model is way more developed than many clicky modules. Yes we wait for ED to do 29, but trust me they will use what they have and model on top of that.
What Russian biased sources? its straight from aircraft manufacturers manual for the DOWNGRADED export version of the above said AC which is known to be 10-15% downtuned. And its not even 29S.
ED fix the radars pls for both Mig and Flankers. Nuff said. There are no counter arguments. The data is plain for all to see.

Can we have ED look at air temp effects on engine thrust for some of the F types?
F16 doesn't suffer at all from warm weather, while the effects on Redfor AC is like driving a loaded truck vs a sports car.
Or maybe the idea here is that Russians made planes for the winter only?
