Yes, that are my experiences from taxiing, too. At some point aft from the center the wheel seems to unlock. This is not the way the tutorial and some other videos are describing it, but according to the rudder: it seems to work. Surprisingly even at low speeds. After reviewing my first successful takeoff in a track replay it wasn't 30 degree of the center line (I just got the feel it was this high). Maybe I was 10 to 15 degrees off. More or less of some kind of panic reaction I raised the throttle up to full power and maybe this stabilized all and I got it up. The suggestion with the brakes and full power and release the brakes when the plane starts to "going down" were giving me way more control over my direction - unfortunately the torque had thrown me to the left again in my last test. So no success at the end but way better handling on the runway. Quite manageable. Still not easy, but doable. Without full power the rudder seems to be ineffective for the first 1 to 2 seconds and for me it's very hard to keep the plane straight just with the brakes this way. With a centered stick (and a unlocked tail wheel) I lose control after a fraction of a second.

No. Frame rates are quite good.
-
That's what I say: impossible. And unlocking the tail wheel to early will cause many problems... at least for me And that's impossible, too. if you do it so, your speed is way to low, to "dance the rudder".
-
Just tried: Impossible in my opinion. The Dora just wont stay in line with the runway and its just not possible for me to compensate with brakes. This way I will crash in less than 2 seconds... EDIT: My first successfull attempt. :pilotfly: Well successfull? Yes. She was flying. Pretty? No, ugly as hell. My nose was pointing about 30 degrees off the center line off the runway but I just pulled the stick a bit (while I was fighting roll and yaw at the same time) and then she was flying. It's hard to believe an aircraft can yaw THIS much and still take off. Keeping the stick neutral until takeoff won't do the trick for me. Just gently (but not to gently) get it to center after starting, not giving full power at start but increase power quickly. A 0% or very shallow rudder curve seems to help. Its much easier to keep the bird on the runway that way.
-
I already thought this. But trying to compensate always end with some kind of desaster. The problem is, that you don't know how much compensation is needed when you a new to the Fw 190. And there are other compensations, too. All have to be applied at the right time with the right amount. Very difficult...
-
You are not alone. About 30 attemps so far and none of them were successfull. For me it seems to be extremly difficult to translate from "brake steering" to "rudder steering" and to not forget to get the stick centered AT THE RIGHT TIME. This bird just won't behave as I expect and then I'm overdoing inputs way to much. Well... that my conclusion at the moment. The 0% rudder curvation may do the trick for me. I will test this today. Most of the time it seems that just after centering the stick the Dora rolls to the left (causing my left wing to crash). Is this observaton correct or just bad luck/incompetence?

Noticed this bug first time in 1.2.8. Is this known to the developers? Is there a corresponding bug thread that mention this? And most important: Will this be fixed?
-
 The best decision in my opinion. It's better to have only working weapons that are well implemented than many exotic weapons that won't work well or not at all in DCS. And the amount of available weapons is greater than I would have expected.

I just stumbled upon this. In my opinion the smoke on the P-51 is a bit overdone. It's to thick (opaque) and in flight it should not extend that far in front of the wings. On ground its way to overdone, too. EDIT: and its broken, too. Just keeping the trigger pressed and the smoke vanishes at the tail of the plane. Just after releasing the trigger, the smoke magically stays in the air. So there is some kind of wire between the smoke particle and the plane. ;) The engineers that have designed the P-51 in WWII are way (perhaps a few hundred years) beyond any technology of today. :-D They were able to manipulate small particles several feet away in the air and make them invisible just by pressing a trigger.

Are there some issues with the logbook in 1.2.6? I had a few flights that weren't recorded in my logs. First one was in the new Mi-8 and I thought, it was because its new and beta. Now also one flight with the Huey wasn't recorded. I didn't had such problems prior to 1.2.6.

I will check it this evening. I have a standard key on my MFP for arming the wepaon system and I'm not using the keyboard for this anymore, so I don't remember the key. But it's assignable and the key is working. PS: Yes it's LALT-S. But it's working for me in my CH MPD.
-
The circuit breakers should not prevent the change of the switch from safe to armed. the weapons were not armed of course but the position of the switch is armed regardless of the state of the CBs.
-
I'm not at my PC at the moment but I'm sure the safety switch can be assigned to the HOTAS (I have done this myself). Bt are you sure about the LALT-S? It's just S (unshifted) I think.
-
I remember at least two missions with the Mi-8 and I have heard no bullet hit noise but I suffered some hits. Thought it was because of beta.
-
Well... has the rocket sound in cockpit changed also? I'm remembering a louder sound... The missing sound for the trimmer is only a minor annoyance, but yes: its gone.
-
I cannot confirm this. I have testet the rearming of the Mi-8 several times. There is a bug with the amount of refueling AFAIR, but rearming (and weapon change) works. You will have to wait a while bevor the rearming starts. AFAIR it worked with closed doors too.
-
confirmed And perhaps its me, but I'm missing the keyboard shortcuts for the fuel pumps (service, left/right tank).
-
It's not a big deal in the beta. But I think there are some keyboard shortcuts missing: - aiming view scale increase/decrease - left landing lights switch - right landing lights switch - taxi landing lights switch - fuel pumps (service, left/right tank) Minor bugs in the control options: - right landing lights up/down keys are labeled right head light up/down - there are keys for moving the light left/right, but they don't do anything; I think the lights are not moveable in that direction
-
2: got them: "." and ";". they are in the training lesson 3: still not found; but perhaps not implemented yet. lets hope that the final release will offer a keyboard shortcut for every switch/lever/button in the game.
-
Is this a "digital" lever (on/off) in the real Mi-8 or is the force applied on the wheel brakes adjustable? If its adjustable, then there should be an (optional) axis in the game. And then we could map this to the pedals (or something else). Realism is only one part of the story. Most of us wont have a lever on their throttles. And pressing a button isn't a realistic approach. So for me its just fine to use my pedals - even if there isn't any pedal-brake in the real Mi-8. Unfortunately my pedals cant send a key pressed / key released event.
-
Not tested the Huey in 1.2.6 yet, but after just a few hours testing the Mi-8, I can control the bird in a landing procedure and land it where I want (not where the copter wants). Nice experience after some very frustrating time with the Huey. :) Cool module. And for a beta release its very well done. I have bought other games at their final release that will not stand against this one regarding bugs and completeness... dunno if I would call it "fantastic", but for a beta its well done.

Really? And how do they brake? at the moment there is a switch (brakes on/off). And another point for the wishlist: + guided missiles: AT-2 Swatter, 9K38 Igla and 9K114 Shturm Well, I know they are not planned; but this is a wishlist. :santa:

Great! :)

+ Axis controls for the brakes + I still haven't found the keys for the "pod type dial" (navigator weapon control panel) and the aiming view scale, so if this isn't my fault and they don't exists, please add them (in case that there are some other missing: configurable keyboard commands for ALL switches please) PS: found the keys for the pod select switch: "." and ";". still searching vor the aiming view scale keys... and: This. :) A nice animation would be great. :smartass:

Well... I think I have to ask: english audio warnings? :music_whistling:
