here's my lua script as requested. Note that I have only changed the ground unit labels. Labels appear at 8km and disappear at 6km. i might try a 5 km distance. Its difficult getting a balance between playability and realism. I set my distance to 8km because that is the max range of the vikhrs. I forgot to mention that I have changed the distances to 8km and label disappears when you get to 6km out from target.

I agree . however I just thought it looked nice that's all. If i were a professional photographer i would have said so.

I have modified my labels so that ground units show up as a green dot at 8km. The label disappears when you are within 4km of target so you still have to search them out with the shkval. also friendly fire still has to be avoided. i think this gives a good balance between realism and full labels which kill the game completely as far as I'm concerned.

the important thing is to make sure the shkval is caged before pressing ingress btn on datalink. once button is pressed, uncage the shkval and it will pan round to the target.

I am trying to reinstall BS2 after having to redownload all the files from the mirror sites. I put all the files into one folder. Everytime I try to run the install exe. I get the message 'The file KA-50_FULL_ENBSUPD_1.1.1.1(1)-1.BIN COULD NOT BE LOCATED IN C;\Users\steven\Newfolder\Desktop. Please insert the correct disk or select another folder. I have downloaded the file with security settings off to make sure it isn't corrupted, but I cannot reinstall the game. What is happening?

HA HA! that is a good point. AK's are useless beyond a certain (very short )range. but you have to love their simplicity and robust reliability.

it looks to me like the standard russian infantry carry AK-47's, is this the case? if they do they certainly cause damage to the ka-50, though i'm not sure how close i got to them

sounds a lot like the A-10.

i knew that attack helos weren't flying tanks as such but i didn't realise they were as lightly armoured. Still, i guess it stands to reason, you have to lift the bird of the ground and you are't going to accomplish that with tank armour strapped to them. i see your point about surviving as opposed to withstanding impacts. i guess i thought surviving meant the bullets bounced off as opposed to being absorbed.

CRIKEY it must be like a flying crisp packet then. I'd heard that the ka-50 carries more armour than the Apache, thanks for confirming it.

Just for fun the other day I plonked a large group of infantry on the map with the ME and flew towards them to watch them start shooting. I assumed wrongly that the (I presume AK-47s thats what they look like) they were carrying wouldn't penetrate my armour. i was soon down in flames. I thought KA-50 armour could shrug off this type of fire?:gun_sniper:

I created a template with all the Russian ground and Heli units placed together. I think it might be useful in mission design so you can drag n drop units easily. It looks like a giant toybox! :D I might upload all the US units later. MissionTemplate.miz
