IMO, if you havent learnt to fly the ka50 or whatever after 13 yrs, you're really missing out.
-
I haven't played DCS for a long time, will be returning soon due to comp upgrade. Does anyone know if the latest builds of DCS World rectify the issue where the enemy AI could basically see through everything (buildings, hills, trees). This was a real gamebreaker for my favourite module KA-50 to some extent.
-
I hope that works. It didn't for me.

I had this exact same problem! Reinstalled game, but templates still missing, (after I had deleted them, like you) IIRC the only way I managed to sort it was to reinstall windows. probably throwing the baby out with the bathwater, but hey, it worked.
-
I'm still waiting for the MIG 28 from Top Gun..

I have had this problem for a while. I created a simple mission with some enemy ground units, and placed some helicopters (various types and armament) and assigned them the Ground Attack task. For some reason, all they do is fly about aimlessly taking fire, before flying away from the combat area. Any tips? I have them flying turning point. Is this the problem?

1.2.0. may not work anymore
-
Hi, Others have had this problem to solve it unistall DCS World. IMPORTANT: make sure all folders are deleted before reinstalling, and it should work fine. If you don't do a completely clean reinstall the same will happen again, I know, I reinstalled twice to get the fckin thing to work.
-
Yes it has happened to me many times in the Ka-50. Didn't know tanks fired ATGMs prior to this.

same here

When playing DCS A-10 the FPS is consistently up throughout the flight from start-up to shut-down. I estimate about 20fps higher. I think you may be right about the cockpit in BS causing a bigger hit as this is what I have when playing Blkshark.
-
I have just bought DCS A-10 and my first impression was WOW this runs smoothly. I struggle to get decent frame rates on high settings with BS2 in spite of having an 8-core processor and 8 gb Ram and a decent G card. After playing A-10 and seeing run as smooth as silk, I can only conclude that the code is better optimized than BS2. Does anyone else find this to be the case? P.S. I run ROF on Max settings as well and thats superb as well.

yes I see what you mean looking at the numbers.

I'm confused. There is a patch for dcs world in the patches section 1.1.2.0 to 1.1.2.1. I get the same message when trying to install it. does this need to be installed or what?

This is what caused me the same problem as well. Took me ages to figure out what it was.

Getting back into it... autopilot and gun q
sjpateys replied to grandkodiak's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The autohover will only work when it receives information from the navigation system regarding the helis forward speed. If you are almost in a hover to start with, then it isn't receiving sufficient data to stabilise the heli. -
and me. I was in level flight (trimmed) all controls centred. press trim button, nose pitches up. This should not happen as you are not altering trim, if trimmed already.
-
I think you've hit the nail on the head with that one. I have the trim button on my x52pro HOTAS, and its definitely more awkward doing it that way than pressing/depressing the FD button!
-
Yes I love fast rocket runs! I think they're more accurate when you're flyin fast
-
yes I know you can but you get the pitching up and down when hard manoeuvring, which I can't get away with at all. I think the autopilots are brilliant 95% of the time i.e. when not manoeuvring hard/targeting etc. but I prefer fd for that. Incidently I have tried holding down the trim but its a bit akward for me, but in any case that is the same as fd isn't it?
-
You're quite right that there's no need to use FD at all. In fact its essential really for using auto turn/ingress modes etc. But I and many other like the responsiveness of the heli when FD is enabled. I switch back n forth between the two out of pure preference really. Also it can get kinda boring with autopilots on all the time. Sometimes its fun to go in manually!
-
You're using almost exactly the same approach as me! I like to use FD when going evasive as well. Also my approach speeds are similar to yours as well, i.e. fast initially the slow down to around 50km/h when at the FEBA. I must be doing something right then.
-
When flying into a hostile area towards a group of mixed targets, is it best to approach at a very slow speed or is it best to be at a fairly high speed say 120-140 kmh?

Thanks for replies. helpful posts they were

As the title suggests I shot down an Apache the other day. It wasn't armed with Hellfires, I hasten to add, because I changed the loadout in the ME. I was quite chuffed, nevertheless. Is it mainly a fluke to shoot one of these things down? or are there people who down 'em on a regular basis? I would love to know! We should have a Poll!! LOL P.S. the cobras are mean as hell too. They are very hard to acquire visually, it seems to me.
