  1. I know is possible in lock on to perform sead roles in the A10. It's very difficult to clean up and airfield, esspecially with an S-8 on the defense. Nonetheless, it can be done. My question is, how realistic is this? Theres another Mav available thats alot longer in range right? As is stands you have to be very low( 25-50 ft ) to fly in undetected by the long range sam sites. Unless of cource theres terrain. Then pop up to get a lock, and then of cource live through the launches. I was just curious if this was realistic at all and if the A-10 does actually perform SEAD roles with the missiles that are not modeled in lock on.( AMG-154?? ) Obviously they wouldnt attempt it the way it is modeled in game now. A) They wouldn't fly that low, and B) I doubt they would get that close to a long range sam site. Do i pretty much have this sumed up, or am i missing peices to the puzzle?
  2. Well, i have the exact same setup minus the proc. I'm running a 3.2gig intel hyperthreaded proc. ( poor mans duel core. ) So yours is quite a bit better. I also have the 8800gts, mine is the 320meg version. I run everything on medium( medium button that is ), plus a few things. i turn on advanced lighting and haze. Plus i like the heat blur. I normally get 20-25fps flying through a big city, anywhere from 40-80 at normal elevations. You will probably have to turn some stuff down at that resolution, or possiblly run with the same settings as me. I run at 1280x1024 due to my flat panel, so i never tried anything better. This game is a monster lol . :joystick: Should probably mention i'm running xp, although i dont know if that makes a difference for you guys fps wise. Oh and welcome to lock-on. :)
  3. Thats great and all, but puts you at an unfair disadvantage lol.
  4. This mission is great, except 2 things imo. Really well designed, you guys did a great job on it. I played on it the other night. Why are we putting externals on and encouraging ghosting? Goes against what people usually see as fair, ya? Just curious. lol The only other thing is that when its up on a pub the ground pounders got a long night ahead. Its a 20-30 min flight to get to targets. If no one is really paying attention to you when you ask for CAP, your just a sitting duck out there where all the fighters merge. Theres obviously some lack of insight on my part, i'm sure. And with wingmen, this would be alot of fun. So not really the missions fault. Would be nice for the 25T's to take off at maykop though. I didnt play blue, but the 2 things i would change are the externals/map, and CAS waypoints. I don't think you wanted those messed with though! :music_whistling:
  5. I had a logitec gamepad when i first started playing lock on. Despite the negative response you usually get it was actually quite good, comparing it to my HOTAS. Aslong as it has an analog stick on it its not that bad. I mapped all the buttons and used the left analog for the yoke. Held it with one hand and used the mouse for looking. I missed using the mouse for a while untill i got track ir. I been flying with your standard x52/trackIR setup for awhile now. Looking back it was almost as good if you set it up correctly. IMO the only thing gimped was no throttle. Had to use the keyboard. Don;t get me wrong though, the hotas and track ir is deffinatly better if you get serious about flying. But i would recommend a gamepad/mouse for any novice before they go out and drop 300 bucks on a stick and track IR. :)
  6. I'm........addicted! Hopefully BS will suck me in this much...lol
  7. No wonder it flies like a peice of junk, considering theres smoke spewing out of it. :p
  8. Nice work fella's! I enjoyed it alot. Nice teamwork. Adding the coms was a really nice touch.
  9. Downloadng now! And ya this 500k/s is really painfull!
  10. I just pull out a desk drawer, put some books in it, and theres my throttle. I like the stick in my lap. lol That aimsworth pit looks really awesome though!
  11. Yep, i'm pretty sure i've climbed it. I was pretty young though. I live in south portland,( almost feet wet :) ) at the moment. But i'm from the western mountains. Up near Newry, bethel. Grew up backpacking in graphton notch, old spec ect..
  12. Hey Ironhand great pics, I'm not too far from ya. I'm over in Maine. What is that first mountain's name? Looks really fimiliar. Does the AT run through there?
  13. Ice, are you serious? I mean come on, really? Is this thing a big joke you are playing on us? I've been playing lock on for nearly a year now. Everyone seems really nice, always helpfull. Always willing to help people learn. Great community, really. Who are you?? Because you don't seem very friendly to me. Is that what is fun for you on your spare time? You're joking again, right? Light hearted amusement? You've been pushing this for days from what i've seen. Well, according to you, weeks. You come on to teamspeak, all but telling us this is THE way it needs to be. Get over your self dude. Server admin says he wants it on, so guess what? It stays on! If he wants it off, he'll turn it off. Light hearted amusement? I'm surprised you didn't give yourself an ulcer from that night on teamspeak. I thought you would start crying if we didn't turn it off. Is this upfront enough for you? The admin has said, he wants it on. Clear for you now? There are obviously cheaters out there. But i believe, our little community here is mostly good folks. Furthermore, I HIGHLY doubt any of our squads would cheat. Some average shmoe of the street might, but really, how is it going to help him against a good, veteran pilot? Its not... I personaly wouldn't use it either way, i like to navigate on my own. It's more fun for me. Hell, i didn't even notice it was on untill Ice brought it up. I didn't even know what it did! LOL Wish i knew about it when i was more of a newbie, heh. Sure for matches, turn it off, your right. Then there is no question. But for pub play it really isnt gonna make much of a difference. :pilotfly:
  14. I just bought a new machine, and put xp on it. I've been playing for months with my cd's. Even though it took a few times to check the disc usually. Now with the new computer it wont verify the disc all at. comes up as a failed check. Anyone know what the deal is? They work fine on my other box. If it continues to not work, what options do i have? Cant i just download something or call someone instead of waiting for a stupid cd in the mail? wtf! I'm gonna be pretty irate if i gotta wait for a new cd to play on my new machine. :furious: :chair:
  15. The only thing i can, or want to fly for that matter, is the 15. Having 15's on both sides helps balancing the teams. I know of atleast one other country that actually has them, though there are probably more. Sometimes i fly the A-10, but you probably won't catch me in a non-us plane. Just not comfortable with a russian cockpit. There deffinatly needs to be something done for the IFF in the 15. That said though, with help of other people on your team and the radar, it's not that difficult to ID your target. SA for the win!
  16. Click the little scale picture to the left on the persons post you wish to give rep. Above the warn amount thing. You can add good OR bad rep.
  17. Go here archer, http://hyperfighter.sk/ Download and install that. Thats where everyone is :)
  18. Does it work online too? I just assumed it didn't because of no externals. lol
  19. I think it would be sweet to able to watch mabey 10 seconds or so after the crash, and only your wreckage. Probably couldnt be much longer though. It would end up giving away enemy positions, heading, ect... I don't mind it they way it is though, sometimes the last thing you see is the missle hitting your cockpit window..lol
  20. Ah, but you can cycle through them with non-american planes? Thats weird. Now to figure out which airports are which and if thier friendly..lol I got a map from lockonfiles.com, you guys got anymore? :)
  21. I needed help on something esle, so i figured i would bump this rather than start a new thread. I'm having some trouble with ILSN mode. On the american planes 15, a-10, i cannot cycle through airports. I can cycle through waypoints though. However, it works on some of the other planes i don't know how to fly. What am i missing? I press one once, im in nav mode, and able to cycle waypoints. I press it a second time and im in ILSN mode. Pressing tilde now does nothing at all. I just dont get it. Everyone has told me, just press tilde while in this mode to move through airports and it just does not work for me. I've checked all the button options, theres no conflicts. How can something so simple be so complicated...lol
  22. I have been jumping to TS usually. Been having alot of fun with the =IA= guys. :) Speaking of which, thanks for the help in TS, those who i flew with. And ya i played offline first because it just seems like the logical thing to do. I can now refine my flying online, but i didnt want to get online not knowing how to fly at all. Atleast now i understand my plane well. Just need to get my tactics and teamwork down. :) So really theres no way to tell friend or foe when the aircraft is locked up, unless of cource there are none of that type on your team? When you burn through unlocked the strobe will turn into a square or circle??
  23. Hey fella's, I've been playing quite some time now. I wanted to fly offline mostly untill i was really comfortable. So, i thought i had a good grip on things, mostly focusing on the 15. Then i started to fly online and realized i'm not quite as good as i thought..lol :helpsmilie: Flying online gives me alot more questions to ask. That said, here it goes; Is there anyway to tell how long untill missle impact if you don't have a visual on it? A missle incoming to me that is. Sometimes just when i think i've avoided it, i fly level again and boom there it is. Second question, What is the deal with the jammers? Everytime i ask people say that im supposed to use it in appropriate situations. So, i turn it on when i'm fired on for sure. Then sometimes i use it to try to break a lock, by flashing it. Thing is, when im online, everyone has it on all the time. People say this isn't true, but i RARELY encounter aircraft that don't have it on. So now i dont know when im supposed to use it...lol  I'm pretty good on IFF, but sometimes i think i'm lacking information in that area and engaging too late. Say i have someone in HOJ and i achive burnthrough. How can i tell if that plane is a friendly or not if im locked up already? I realize the square circle thing, but when you burnthrough its just a little plane. The only way i can see is droping my lock, but by then they are engaging me already. :( Thanks for any help guys, sorry for the nub questions.. Mac
  24. Map zoom to a button, much more comfortable that way. I use the slider on my x52 throttle. I just used the 15 dollar thing from hyperlobby when i bought mine. I'm using a normal baseball cap with the clip, it's flawless. Zoom was hurting my neck, but thats mostly cause my chair is a peice of crap, and i have to fight it to lean foward..lol :)
  25. I'm just curious if there ARE any plans to add a two seater? Its quite obviously possible.( battlefield series ) Put aside the huge fun factor for a min... It would be so easy to convince my friends to play if they could ride along with me! :) I have one more question; What will the multiplayer be like? Will there be jets AND choppers flying around? :drunk:
