DCS A-10C QUESTIONS Btw, since when can we carry 38s on 3 and 9? Can the real jet do so?
-
DCS A-10C QUESTIONS Ehm.. I suggest you read the manual topic on the altimeter again. Be sure to know precisely which number means what because now you're mixing everything up.. Get an understanding of what the altimeter does, how it does that, and how it displays what it does. Big and small numbers, breaking an altimeter and using another.. I'm not following.

QFE gives local rwy elevation as zero point. QNE gives world wide standard sea level as zero point. QNH gives local/regional sea level as zero point. This means that QFE gives alt AGL/height with the rwy as reference. Set pressure according to ATC to get QFE. QNE gives alt MSL based on an average/normalised sea level. Set 29.93 to get QNE. QNH gives true alt MSL based on the local/regional sea level. If you want to set QNH you'll have to Google the pressure setting for the local/regional sea level and pray that the elevation of the DCS landscape is accurate. Fortunately though, Europe states that above 6,000ft. alt MSL QNH pilots should use QNE, indicating that it's at least reliable enough. Since you can assume that no single airport in our DCS theatre is below sea level you might as well use 6,000ft. AGL QFE as your cue to switch to QNE. It's an approximation of reality but at least it comes closer to it than DCS' approach.

I loaded a 65D and 65G last night and tricked the inventory into thinking I had a symmetrical load of two Ds so I can recage+step easily. All of a sudden my G gives an IR feed when stepping the D... :-S Anybody else experiencing this? Seems a lot like a bug where the feed is determined by a DSMS setting instead by what you're actually carrying. Also, is there a way to step to a next MAV while keeping the previous one aimed instead of recaging it first?

3) ATC gives you an initial approach fix (IAF) which is a virtual point in space, 10nm out. Make sure you're flying at 2.500ft when you arrive at that point. Then use whatever means to steer towards the airport. Either TACAN, or TACAN+ILS, or simply the FPM and the STP marker on the hud. I find the latter the easiest yet also the most sloppy method. At roughly 5nm you should have managed to be flying at your landing speed with your gear and flaps down. If not, abort and retry. And yes, the TACAN beacon is off the runway so either use TACAN and switch to visual (FPM on -2.5 degrees at RWY treshold) when closing in or use TACAN and ILS. Another trick is beaming the airport (either the TACAN or the STP) while keeping 10nm distance. When it's on your 2/10 make a sharp turn. Be sure to have set the RWY heading properly when using this trick, especially at low visibility. What I just wrote is not the most detailed tutorial so I'll get back to it tomorrow if nobody else has done so by then. This should get you going for now though. By the way you're right about ATC calling out the wrong RWY. Sometimes the IAF suggests you have to land on 090 while later on ATC will tell you to land on 270. We have to assume that's where commercial games differ from million dollar simulators. :)

Got it! While on the CDU: FUNC 3 > ANCHOR PT > HUD (toggle ON/OFF).
-
It's a setting somewhere.
-
No.. There's a way to have the bullseye show up on the upper right corner of the HUD regardless of STP/MP.
-
Having a brain fart here.. How do I get Bullseye to show up on the right corner of the HUD again? Need it ASAP so winner gets free cookies.

Flight Qualifications Campaign
JayPee replied to Sabre-TLA's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
Thank yoU! -
For those still interested, did some tweaking and left the sheet protection out. If you want to toy around, go ahead! Just make sure you don't wreck it or you'll have to start over.

Sabre, on the Maple Flag website is a screenshot clearly showing yellow tinted front windows on the left and right side. Which mod did you use for that? I've tried Milli's one but that somehow also colours the canopy frame, this one doesn't. Screenshot can be found at: http://www3.sympatico.ca/tlaschuk/mapleflagmissions/ -

DCS A-10C QUESTIONS If you have to make minor adjustments to your aim prior to firing, do you generally 'fight' PAC1 or do you make them before you engage PAC1? If the latter is the case, then what is the added value of PAC1 if PAC is enabled while firing the gun anyway? Only reason I could come up with is if your aim is set but you still have to fly down the slant range because youre too far out to make your rounds effective..

Looking for comprehensive dumb bombing guides
JayPee replied to JayPee's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hehe, guess I better do it by the book or no point in simming at all. -
Hmm, **** that. You're right. Guess I didn't had the parameters right in the past... (as is the case most of the time).
-
Btw is it normal that you can never get your engine back on again once you've used the extinguisher for that engine?
-
I've never been able to do a restart other than the normal start up via the APU. Either I'm doing it wrong or it's not properly implemented... To be very honest I'm putting my money on the latter right now since I'm following the checklists word for word. Perhaps an SME can answer?

So is there any point in entering a SEM and MIN ALT anyway right now? Or do these two variables also affect the DRC? -

Can anyone confirm the MRS is still not working properly? Situation is as follows: I'm performing a 50 30DB2. Base is 5,100. On roll out I'm at 3,500 and 30 degrees dive. At around 3,000 the pipper meets the DRC. However, the MRS is already buried half a second after roll out. Upon roll out it's placed somewhere between the pipper and the DRC while I'm sure it should be higher than the DRC and should not cause the X in the pipper. DTOF set to 6.7 and MIN ALT set to 1,000. CLM SEM. Total loadout is 1WX2A65X4B50. -
Can I completely remove the depressible pipper from my HUD instead of 'stowing' it down behind the dashboard? (from my seat's height that's possible)

I know watercoolers cool better than aircoolers but they also generate more noise!
-
Any idea how the new 4790K would relate to the cooler in terms of overclocking?
-
OK. Anyway, opinions still are welcome fellow arm chair pilots! Let me know if you think I'm somehow making a mistake with the aforementioned rig.
