Skynet: An IADS for Mission Builders
tom1502 replied to flywaldair (Skynet dev.)'s topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
Hi, Thanks for that. I may just do that. I tried hiddne on the map, but it was still showing. I also tried hidden on planner (which was a new one to me), but no change. It's odd because in a mission the other day none of them were showing up on the SA page; so maybe it is down to a DCS update. Will the sites show up on the SA page once they go active, even if "Hidden on the map" is ticked? Thanks, Tom -
Skynet: An IADS for Mission Builders

Hi, I have read it, but I have no clue where to start with scripting. I don't have any software or know how or where to create the file you say to create. As a result I don't know what to do outside of your original demo mission to be able to create a layered, responsive IADS system. With some testing I've found that all of the SAMs, and their threat rings, still show up on the F/A-18 SA page, even though they have not been active. Do you know if there is a way to stop this as it is making things remain too easy for the Hornet pilots. They can carry the JSOW, align the TGP on the SA page and pick off the SAMs even though they are not emitting anything. They are not showing up on the RWR, just the SA page. I don't know of any of the other modules having a similar display so I don't know if it applies to anything else. Really like the system though and it's adding a lot even in the demo mission (which I've adapted into something bigger for my testing purposes) Thanks, Tom -
Skynet: An IADS for Mission Builders

I was just wondering whether it would be possible to make a YouTube tutorial for how to set this up for those of us with absolutely no clue about scripting but do really like mission building. At the moment I am just developing a mission based on your demo, but it would be great to properly understand how to do this from scratch. Thanks! -
I have a question, can you run SRS from a NAS drive? Would it be possible to make a version that would work in this way?

Brilliant, thank you!

Hi all, Loving the JDAM implementation, but I seem to have an issue. I can ripple off the first three but the fourth seems to crash DCS. I don't know why this is but it is a repetitive issue as soon as I press the weapon release on the fourth JDAM (when rippling) I get the blue box telling me that DCS has crashed. Is this unique to me or is it a bug that is being examined? Thanks, Tom

Once your PC is built DCS is as complex as you want it to be. I don't play with any of the .lua files as I have no idea what I am doing with them. I don't think I am missing much as a result. I have had to programme the Thrustmaster Warthog so that the positions work in every position - when I'm not flying the A-10, but this is simple in the Thrustmaster software - literally a case of selecting the button and assigning a key press to it. There are plenty of helpful people out there, generally more so than the ones that want to make you feel stupid :) -
There was a long wait for this I got in on the kick-starter in 2018, but I received mine in mid-August. I'd say it was worth the wait :)

Hi all, I've just written a review of the BlackHog b-explorer and the different mounting systems available. I tested the units with VR (Rift-S) and Track IR. Happy for any feedback to be left on the forum or the blog post :) OD

It’s always been this way, and they’re technically right, it is being released today. It doesn’t matter it’s in OB as it’s freely available and, as pointed out, easy to convert to. If you want the F-14 today it is available.

I'd be more than happy to see a 2:1 exchange. I may only have $35 or so, but as with others I tend to have bought things in sales or on Pre-release and don't really get to use the Bonus Points as I have all the modules I want. The only one I don't have is the C-101 and the GPS add-on for the L-39 and Mi-8. I think it would be a generous offer, rather than just killing off the bonus points. :)

I'm currently unable to change page on the kneeboards, and the correct controls are assigned.

It would seem I deleted another one...whoops! Done the right one now and it would appear to have stopped the comms menu popping up! Thanks a lot, Tom
-
Thanks. I’ll make sure I deleted the right file, and if still not working I’ll do that. It is surprisingly irritating!
-
Hi, Unfortunately that didn't work. Can you just confirm the right Export file path? I'm sure I've deleted the right one, but now it really is flashing on and off every five seconds. Thanks a lot, Tom

Brilliant, I’ll try that and see how I get on.

Hi all, I'm having issues with the comms menu popping up independently of any key presses. It's normally the Comm1 menu. I have the keybinding assigned to my HOTAS but it is not being pressed, and requires a multiple key press for it to happen (LSHFT+K). Pressing the default Comm menu button does not clear it. only F12. I am unable to bring up the Comm menu myself. This is all in the Open Beta. I am using Voice Attack with Vaicom 2.5 running the latest versions of both. I've tested both with and without Voice Attack running and it doesn't appear to make any difference; the same thing still happens. It's stopping me from using the Comm 2 menu when I need to and it is preventing some key presses from working when I need them to. I've checked all of the key bindings in the game and I can not find a conflict. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks, Tom

Morning all, Is there any way to get more than four aircraft to spawn on a carrier? I’m talking both the Tarawa and the Stennis. There are bays next to the runway on the Tarawa that are empty, and there are other slots on the Stennis that could be used as spawn points, or four could spawn on the ramps and four on the runway, something like that. Am I missing something or is four an absolute maximum? Thanks, Tom

Thanks, thought it would be unlikely. It's something I'll probably have to leave. It was a thought for the future replacement of the MacBook and iPad; though I don't want to move that stuff away from Apple.

Hi all, I'd like to be able to work on the mission editor when I'm away from home. I have a MacBook Pro and an iPad Pro, so those can not run DCS full stop. I was wondering whether a Surface Pro would be able to run DCS purely for the mission editor, with no intention of flying. Thanks in advance, Tom

I’ve been thinking about this for some time and decided to write down my thoughts on the matter. How could ERD allow greater utilisation of the trainers? https://79vraf.wordpress.com/2018/08/05/dcs-trainers-are-they-missing-a-trick/ I’d really like to be able to use them for their originally intended purpose with new recruits and get them up to a certain level before they progressed with us at EAF, it’s not yet possible without both players owning the module, but maybe there is something that ED could do...I can live in hope!

Tired that and it's not been working. Just thought it had been done for the L-39, it might be worth doing for the Spitfire.
-
Other than the clipped wings? Nothing. For some reason though, when you switch between them the controls don't seem to translate and you have to set them up again.
-
Hi, My wish for the wishlist would be that the Spitfire Mk IX and the Spitfire Mk IX Clipped Wing Variant get a separate control list, like the L-39 does. Currently it seems to not be able to remember controls when you switch from one version to another, necessitating a trip to the option menu and resetting controls.

Integral support for separate VR display settings
tom1502 replied to streakeagle's topic in DCS Core Wish List
+1 would be good to be able to choose whether to have a VR/non-VR version at launch, rather than go into game, restart the game and then get to do what you need to do (for me it's usually the Mission Editor)
