  1. Wait... What? So if I have a target designated, as in from a waypoint, I can't slew the seeker head? What if I have say... a TOO that I found and locked with the A/G radar? Should I be able to slew that? Or can I only slew it if I have no target designated?
  2. When I finally got my Mavericks to fire the other night, I had them targeting a bulk freighter. It took all four of the missles I had on board to sink the thing. The first two didn't even slow it down. I had them set to SHIP so it hit the vessel on the water line. I know the AGM-65 may not be the ultimate anti-ship missile, but should it take four of them to sink a vessel that size?
  3. Okay then I must have had the wrong kind of Maverick because that is exactly what happened; in A/G mode, master arm on, had a ship as a waypoint designated as a target and uncaged seeker was looking at it. I thought I should be able to press and hold TDC and then slew the thing but I couldn't. But when I pressed weapon release, the seeker suddenly grabbed the target, went RDY, and launched. Only thing is, if that was a laser type AGM-65, I'm not sure where the laser came from cuz I'm pretty sure I didn't have one loaded. Anyway, I will verify my load out and try it again. Thanks!
  4. I'm trying to figure out AGM-65's. I can't seem to get the "X" to go away, at least not at first. I saw a video where the "X" went away after the Mavericks were powered up on the ground. Is this correct? If not, what criteria has to be met before it should go away and they say "RDY"? Earlier this evening I was cruising along at 8000 feet. I had a Target designated by a waypoint and when I did that, the seeker head tracked it cuz it was uncaged. At that point, obviously it was timed out. So I had a target, it was uncaged, and it was tracking, I was in range, but the X was still there. I thought at that point I should be able to hold the TDC button and slew the sensor to fine tune it so it will lock on to an actual target instead of a lat/long. But it will not slew at all. What am I missing? Why won't the "X" go away so I can slew it? Now, to further complicate the issue, this last time I tried it, I was in range and the sensor was tracking but it still had the "X". Out of frustration, I pushed the weapon release and suddenly "X" went away, the sensor locked directly onto the target ship, the weapon fired, tracked, and hit the target. I put four Mavericks on the ship that same way. Seemed kind of odd that it took four Mavericks to sink a bulk freighter...? Anyway, I got it to work, but the procedure I had to use seems much different than what I've seen. Am I missing something?
  5. I have always used FFB joysticks. It's not a big deal for the newer jets obviously because everything these days is FBW so you don't really feel anything in the stick besides a bit of back pressure. Even an older jet like the F-86 has all hydraulic flight controls so you don't feel anything. But the older WWII planes that had direct flight controls, FFB makes a world of difference in those because when you're flying them, you feel everything. Even in a relatively (compared to WWII) jet like the L-39 it makes allot of difference. The L-39 has no hydraulics in the flight controls so like the older planes, you feel everything. I know this because for the last 14 years I have worked on privately owned L-39s for a living, although I am semi-retired now. But I got to fly in them many, many times and trust me when I say, FFB in a plane like that makes a world of difference. When you're pulling allot of G's and you're right on the edge and you just barely start to feel that tiny bit of vibration in the stick because you're right on the edge of a stall. It adds so much realism, at least IMHO. The deal is, none of the newer flight systems are FFB and I don't understand why. So I have to try to keep my 10 year old G940 going as long as I can cuz it's the last of a dying breed.
  6. Yeah, thanks. I finally figured that out last night and got it to work.
  7. Okay, stupid question... how do you change your terrain/location in the mission editor? Or maybe I'm still trying to do it in the quick one...?
  8. No I don't need pics, thanks. I think I understand what you mean. I wanna say that on the jets, the stick moves like it should as does the trim button, although I think there is one jet where the trim is set up correctly but the plane reacts to it backwards, i.e. when I adjust pitch trim, the trim switch in the cockpit moves correctly but the aircraft responds in the roll axis. Something like that. I'm gonna have to go through all of my planes again and see what does what.
  9. Well, I'll look into this and give it a try but I am doubtful. I tried DCS with and without the Logitech SW the other night and it made no difference, but at this point I'll try anything. I don't suppose your VKB is FFB...? I know I don't really need FFB for the modern jets but it sure is nice for the older planes. I don't really want to give it up. But if I can't get the trim to work right... It's just very frustrating because it use to work so good and I know it's not an issue with my system. I was flying the P-51 and the P-47 the other night and I was watching the elevator trim tab while I moved my trim wheel. I did exactly what is was suppose to do, but made absolutely no difference in the attitude of the airplane, and it obviously use to.
  10. Ahhh... okay. I understand what you're saying now. I will give that a try. I'll try anything at this point.
  11. You're saying you went into the software for your Gunfighter and set to defaults? I'm not sure how I would do that with the Logitech software. Actually, now that I think of it, I don't actually use the Logitech software when I fly DCS. I just use the G940 raw inputs. That has always worked the best. BTW, how do you like that "Gunfighter" setup? Interesting joystick. I'm assuming the handbrake on that stick is an axis that could be assigned to brakes? That would be awesome for the likes of the Spitfire and the L-39. I am actually pretty good at that since I work on L-39's for a living and frequently have to start and taxi them. The differential braking/steering is an art.
  12. Well, I have but that would only fix a couple of them. The ones where the trim control surfaces are actually moving... I mean, obviously my controller is setup correctly because the trim switch on the stick in the cockpit is moving in the correct direction. I mean, if I'm flying a Mustang and I can watch the elevator trim tab go up and down while I'm flying and it has absolutely no affect on the aircraft, my system and my setup are obviously not the problem. I set the trim on my F-5 full down and it moves the stick forward, but when I'm flying I have to keep constant forward pressure on the stick to keep the nose down; obviously not a problem with my system or my setup. I also have the MS SW FFB2. I tried it instead of the G940 and got similar results. But it was never like this before. Before 2.7.5, I had stepped away from flight sims for a month or so. I alternate between flight and driving sims like that. Before that, I never had ANY trim issues with any modules in DCS.
  13. Okay, gotcha. Thanks!
  14. I thought I saw something... somewhere that would show English labels in the Viggen cockpit. Can this be done?
  15. I installed it through the sim and it says it's in there. And I go in the advanced mode to set up a flight and I select it. But when I generate the flight, it just comes up blank and I can't go any further. I uninstalled and reinstalled but it does the same thing. What am I missing? Is there some other terrain or mod necessary to make this one work?
  16. I have had a trim issue with DCS since a few updates back. 2.7.5 maybe...? Anyway, the deal is, most of my DCS planes have some kind of trim issue. I have a FFB Logitech G940. Up until that update, I never had an issue with it. Now, most of the planes have trim issues. Some of them the trim doesn't work at all. A couple of them, the trim works backwards. And one or two of them, the trim axis is backwards even though it's set up correctly. And then there are two or three of them where the trim works fine. I believe it's the F-18 and the F-16 and maybe one other that the trim is good. I do not believe it's a hardware issue as I use the exact same setup in several other sims with no issues (two versions of P3D, FSX, and MSFS2020). The thing is, when I'm in an aircraft where it doesn't work... it is working, but it's not. Like in the P-51 or P-47 or Spitfire. I move the pitch trim on my joystick, I see the trim wheel move in the cockpit, I can even see the trim tab moving on the elevator. But nothing happens. It doesn't affect the flight model in any way. I'm flying along in a Mustang having to put constant pressure on the stick to keep the nose down. I move my trim control and I watch the trim tab on the elevator move all the way up which should make the elevator go down. But it doesn't. It has no affect at all. A few are like this. In the jets, I move my trim button and I see the cockpit trim switch move it the correct direction just like it always has. But it does not change the behavior of the Tomcat or F-5. They still want to go nose up. I want to say that the roll trim has similar issues. I also have one or two planes where the trim controls are setup correctly, i.e. my pitch trim control is set for pitch trim, but when I move it, I get a response in the roll axis. I won't bore you with the details of which plane does what, but you get the picture. One thing I have not done is correlate which plane is doing what by who developed it. The Hornet and the Falcon work fine. I need to look and see who made what. Again, my controller system works just fine with those two planes, maybe a third, and it works fine in other sims. So it's not a hardware issue. And prior to that one update, I never had an issue with any planes in DCS. One thing someone else mentioned is some old glitch they had heard of before where any controller that was FFB could have trim issues. I have never experienced that. I have been with DCS pretty much from the beginning and I've had the same controller that never had an issue until now. I do NOT want to give up my FFB. In fact, I'm kind of amazed that virtually none of the new, modern flight systems are FFB. I realize that FFB isn't really necessary in modern fighter jets, but to me it's absolutely essential in older WWII planes and even some jets like the L-39. So... has anyone else had any kind of trim issue in the last couple months since 2.7.5?
  17. One simple question; will DCS every have a study level F-15?
  18. Do you have a FFB Joystick?
  19. Well, like I said, it only appeared to happen with the MS SW FFB2. The G940 goes the correct way, when it works. I just don't see how it could possibly be a joystick issue when I can move the elevator trim wheel while in flight and I can see the trim tab on the elevator of my P-51 moving in the correct direction, but it has absolutely no affect on the flight of the airplane. And again, this is a recent development. A week or so back when I first noticed this issue was the first time I had flown anything in DCS since before this last update. And just to be double sure, I went over to P3D V4.5 and V5 and flew a few planes and the trim worked perfectly.
  20. Okay, now I am understanding what you mean. I will check that. I only have one controller plugged in. Nothing else. Interesting... last night, I plugged in a different FFB joystick and tried a number of planes. A few of them actually worked. But most of them worked backwards, i.e. the pitch trim switch operated the aileron trim. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to which ones worked and which ones didn't, unless it was planes from certain developers. Then, when I plugged the G940 back in and tried it again, the trim in the F-14 worked.... kind of. It went in the right direction and would affect the flight model, but it was really twitchy and had to be retrimmed constantly. And, it would have weird FFB inputs that just seemed to occur randomly. I have no idea what was going on. Anyway, I will check on that game flight mode.
  21. So, nobody else is having this issue so I should just shut up about it? Like I said a couple times before, I can see the trim button or the trim wheel moving in the cockpit of whatever aircraft I'm in. I can see the horizontal stab move when I adjust the trim. I can see the trim tabs on the P-47 and P-51 moving when I move my trim wheel. But with this particular joystick, when I do that even in flight, it has no affect on the flight model of the aircraft. Most of the time I need to trim the aircraft down. So I move the trim wheel in the appropriate direction and I see the trim tab on the elevator move in an upward direction which should put downforce on the elevator. But the aircraft still wants to pitch up. In the jets, when I set the trim before takeoff, I can see the horizontal stab moving appropriately, but then when I get airborne it still wants to pitch up and the stick is pushing against me when I try to trim down, like the trim is having no effect whatsoever. When I was trying all the jets several nights ago, the FA-18 and F-16 seemed to work, but the F-86, F-14, F-5 and maybe the A-10 all wanted to pitch up... allot.... no matter where the trim was. Then when I tried the WWII planes the other night, they all wanted to pitch up no matter where the trim was. Then I tried a different non-FFB joystick last night and all planes seemed to work okay. And also once again, this problem is new. It seemed to start right after the last update. I will go through all my planes tonight and try them again with a different FFB joystick (MS SW FFB2) and also with the 940 again. One other thing, the G940 works fine in FSX, MSFS2020 and P3D.
  22. Okay, so I plugged my old Saitek Cyborg in and tried a few planes. All trim functions appear to work. So maybe there is a bug that's been reintroduced with this latest update where some trim functions don't work if a FFB joystick is used. Great. What do I do now? I most certainly do not want to give up my G940. I absolutely do want FFB, especially with the older planes that don't have hydraulic flight controls. Why would you not want FFB? You have a much better feel of the airplane. Hey, Eagle Dynamics, you listening? This needs to be fixed! I never had this issue until this latest update.
  23. The keys and axis are all set correctly. When I move the elevator trim axis, I can see the trim wheel in the cockpit moving in the correct direction. I can also see the trim tab on the elevator moving in the correct direction. That's what is so frustrating about this. It isn't my setup. The trim tab on the plane moves like it's suppose to on the P-51, P-47, Spitfire, whatever. My inputs are doing what they're suppose to do. It's a problem with DCS.
  24. Since that last update, I've been having trim issues with most of my planes. (P-51, P-47, Spitfire, F-5E, F-14, F-15, F-16, FA-18, A-10C, L-39, AV-8, AJS-37, MiG-21, M-2000, F-86) So far, the only two planes that have pitch trim that actually works are the F-16 and FA-18. Everything else has no pitch trim and most of those have no trim at all. Some do have aileron and rudder trim. Thing is, I was looking at a few of them the other night; P-51, P-47, Spitfire, a couple others... and you could see the trim tab moving on the elevator but it had absolutely no affect on the flight model. Someone mentioned the other day that this might be an old bug that has resurfaced where the trim doesn't function if a FFB is used. I do have a FFB joystick. I will dig out my old Saitek Cyborg and see what happens. But it still needs to be addressed. It wasn't like this before that last update.
  25. My controller is a Logitech G940 which is a FFB controller. Are you saying I can't use a FFB controller with DCS now? That's all I ever use. That's why I have hung on to this controller for so long cuz I want FFB, especially when I'm flying older aircraft. Why would you want to fly a Mustang or Spitfire without FFB? Anyway, weird that the trim works with some planes but not others. Thought it might be an issue with only older planes but the F-14 came out not long after the FA-18. I dunno, but I hope they can do something about it.
