  1. I am wondering if there might be any chance of Heatblur ever setting the Viggen up to be able to export the radar display to an MFD, such as a Winwing system. I have a three MFD Winwing setup but the Viggen isn't an aircraft that can have it's radar exported onto an MFD. I also have a triple monitor setup. And the thing about that is that when the display is so wide like that, you can't zoom out far enough to be able to see any of the instrument panel without slewing the display down a bunch. Then of course, you can't see what's going on outside. Most DCS aircraft have at least one or two devices than can be exported. A few don't like the F-4E Phantom and of course, the Viggen. The F-1 Mirage isn't on the Winwing SimAppPro list but for some reason, it's radar display just shows up on one of my MFD's, which is quite nice. I wish the Phantom and the Viggen would do that.
  2. Well, I almost exclusively do a prestarted aircraft and I don't recall ever seeing the IHADSS B/S message. So you're saying that in that situation, it has already been boresighted and all I would need to do is maybe, set the range?
  3. I have a three display Winwing MFD setup with a UFC and an ICP. About a dozen of the modules I own can be put on one, two or three of these displays with the SimAppPro app. I discovered a while back that the radar for the F-1 Mirage will also appear on one of the Winwing MFD's and it is fully functional. And... it has nothing to do with SimAppPro or Winwing. Does anyone have any idea how this happens or what .lua file might make this happen? The reason I ask is that there are a couple more planes that have radar's, etc. that I would love to display on an MFD. I saw one init.lua file for the F-1 that seemed like it might be part of the reason it works. I actually took part of that .lua file and put it in a similar file for the F-4E Phantom radar. It worked... kind of. What I got was an overlay of the radar display on the main game display. It was fully functional except it had no returns showing on it when it should have. Anyway, anyone got any ideas? I would love to have the radar and HSI of the Phantom on MFD's so I am not having to constantly slew down to see them. I have a three monitor setup now and I don't use the TrackIR 5 that much anymore.
  4. So, I now have the eastern Afghanistan map and the southwest Afghanistan map. Is it safe to assume that there will be a northern Afghanistan map released at some point? Is there any reason at all that I would want the entire all in one Afghanistan map or would I have all of it when/if a northern map comes out?
  5. I know how to do this. Like everyone else, I started doing it pretty much from the day I had the thing. It used to work. I'd set the manual range to 1000 yards, boresight the thing and the gun would be right on the money. Now, no matter what I do, it's way off. I try doing it with my TrackIR 5 off but that makes no difference. Has something changed? Is there a new procedure now? I read something about setting the range to AUTO. How would I do that and would it make any difference? One thing that has changed for me is that I now have a triple monitor setup, so my viewpoint it always zoomed way out. Could that be the issue? Where should I have my viewpoint initially to do a proper boresight?
  6. Could I ask you where exactly you got the mod from? I go to the download link on the first page and it does not work. Where can I get this mod?
  7. Well, I usually disable Jester anyway so... Thanks!
  8. Exactly which .lua file do I need to copy from and paste too?
  9. I have a complete Winwing MFD setup with three MFD's, a UFC and an ICP. About a dozen of the modules that I own are able to be displayed on one of more of those MFD's. Unfortunately, three are not... kind of. Of the modules I have, the AJS-37 Viggen, the F-1 Mirage, and the F-4E Phantom are not listed as Winwing compatable aircraft, even though there are a few other modules that have a single radar display that are Winwing MFD compatable. Well, I was playing around with different planes the other night and I had the AV-8B Harrier selected in SimAppPro. In DCS, I had been flying the Harrier, but then switched to the F-1 Mirage. Lo and behold, the radar display of the Mirage showed up on one of the Mfd's. I am not sure how this happens, but there are several aircraft I can select in SimAppPro that will allow the Mirage radar to be displayed on an MFD. There is a selection in SimAppPro for the M2000C Mirage III, but not the F-1 Mirage. But it works none the less. I would love to figure out why this plane works when it is not listed, and see if there is some way to apply this "glitch" to the Phantom and even to the Viggen radar. Anyone have a guess as to why this happens?

  12. Okay, so at about 12:05 on the following YT link, we see the AN/APG-70 in A/G, RBM mode, at 40 mile range and at altitude, and we see that the ground returns are basically just a narrow band across part of the sweep. This band of ground returns depends on the selected range, the aircraft altitude, and the radar antenna elevation. Okay, fine. Here is another link of the FA-18C AN/APG-73 radar in A/G mode in a similar setup; at altitude and at 40 mile range. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VULxns6OkF4 As you can see, there are ground returns over the entire range of the PPI display. Obviously the amount of returns still depends on the range, altitude and antenna elevation but there are still returns over the entire range. Here's another link of the AN/APG-68 radar from the F-16C in A/G mode at 80 mile range. At 2:38, you can see ground returns over the entire 80 mile range. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3uAuYijeug And finally, here is the KLJ-7 radar in the JF-17, once again in A/G mode and at altitude and at 40 mile range. And once again, we see ground returns throughout pretty much the entire PPI display, even at short range. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMSExqW9p6s Even the older AN/APG-120 radar in the F-4E Phantom had ground returns pretty much throughout the range of the scope... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5oJUPPo8zQ Then we have the afore mentioned A/G radar in the F-15E, which only has the narrow band of ground returns. Then here are two links for the RDI radar in the M2000C Mirage III and the CYRANO IV radar in the F-1 Mirage, both in A/G mode at altitude and longer range. Like the F-15 A/G radar, the A/G radars in both versions of the Mirage have a somewhat narrow band of ground returns on the A/G display, depending on the range and altitude, and antenna elevation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4USr2u1O2w&t=1442s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrE5-yV2igc&t=35s So my question here I think is obvious. Why do some A/G radars show returns through the entire range of the display and some only have a narrow band of rturns, especially at altitude? Now, I am a retired aviation maintenance tech that specialized in avionics. I spent most of the last four decades installing and maintaining both military and civilian avionics including radar, so I very much know how a radar works. The aircraft I worked on in the US navy had a basic search radar but it was still a good radar cuz it was basically a stripped down version of the AN/APQ-148 bombing/fire control radar out of the A-6E Intruder. That being said, I never got to see the radar actually working in a long range, high altitude setting. The most I ever got to see was pointing the nose of the aircraft off the bow of the carrier and seeing a few ships and possible a coastline or some inland mountains. So what is the deal? Why the difference? I thought maybe it was the age of the radar system. Something with the design of the antenna array with the older systems caused it to receive only a narrow band of ground returns. But the AN/APG-120 is probably the oldest of all those systems and yet it isn't that much of an issue. So is this an accurate representation of the real thing? Are the A/G radars in the F-16, FA-18 and JF-17 just that much better than the F-15E radar? I would think that as good as the F-15's AN/APG-70 is with the HRM that it would also have an exceptional RBM picture even at long range and altitude like the Hornet or the Viper. But I went on a long nav flight around Sinai in the F-15E last night and honestly the RBM A/G radar picture was... not too impressive. Are they supposed to work this way or did some of the devs just get their radars wrong?
  13. Isn't someone working on an A-6E Intruder? As a former Naval Air veteran that spent my entire enlistment (12 years) stationed at NAS Whidbey Island in the 70's and 80's, an A-6E would mean so much to me. I actually worked on the EA-6B's but I was around A-6's all the time. Nothin but Hornets at Whidbey these days, which is cool... but I miss it. I mean, we have an F-14 and I believe Flying Iron is working on an A-7E. I heard about a possibility of an S-3 Viking. I mean, that would be almost my entire flight deck from 40 years ago. That would be like going back in time for me.
  14. Oh, I guess I need to update my profile. The 4790K left a long time ago.
  15. I tried the new Northeast Afghanistan map last night. I never got off the ground cuz my FPS was unplayable. Just to make sure I didn't have any other issues, I ran the exact same aircraft and mission in Iraq, and it ran flawless. Anyone else have FPS issues with this new map? I had southwest Afghanistan before and I don't remember having any issues with it. Only started when I went to the northeast map.

    Winwing ICP

I just received my Winwing ICP. Can't wait to hook it up and try it. I heard through once source that the ICP, which is obviously designed specifically for the DCS F-16, can work with other DCS aircraft. Now, obviously the knobs and buttons will work with pretty much any aircraft in any sim. But I'm wondering about the DED. Does anyone know if it will display data from any other aircraft? I installed a mod in my DCS that would supposedly allow some data to be displayed from aircraft besides the F-18. It kinda works... sometimes. I am wondering if the ICP mich work like this? I do fly the FA-18 and F-16 quite often, but they aren't the only planes in the sim.
  17. I have been trying to figure out, unsuccessfully so far, how to add other modules onto SimAppPro so their various displays can show up on the Winwing MFD's. The three I'd like to add are the F-4E Phantom, the F-1 Mirage and the AJS-37 Viggen. Well, I was loading different aircraft in SimAppPro the other day and looking at planes other than the one I loaded. I happened to look at the F-1 Mirage after loading the A-10C into SimAppPro. Lo and behold, the Mirage radar displayed perfectly on the right hand MFD. I tried other modules in SimAppPro and all but two of them gave me a Mirage radar on an MFD. I never made any changes to any SimAppPro files so I'm not sure how/why this happens... but I'm glad it does. Unfortunately, the this doesn't work for the Phantom or Viggen.
  18. So, I got me a curved monitor and couple months ago and I like it a lot. So now I've come across a really good deal on two more of those same curved monitors. So now I'm obviously seriously considering a three monitor setup. However, I'm very concerned about the terrain warping on either side. I've heard that there are other sims that don't have this problem like MSFS. So how much of a problem is it? Is there anything that can be done about it?
  19. I was just looking at the layout of all the maps since Afghanistan and now Iraq came out. Theoretically i should be able to fly from Cairo to Jerusalem to Damascus to Bagdad to Dubai to Baghram to Kabul, without stopping (assuming unlimited fuel, of course). But I'm guessing maybe the game won't let you fly from one terrain into the next without reloading....? ?
  20. Actually i have but I have yet to get a reply.
  21. Okay, most of my aircraft are on SAP. But there are a few that aren't. I would like to see the F-4 Phantom, F1 Mirage, and JAS-37 Viggen added. I mean, if other older, single display aircraft like the MiG-21 and F-5E are on there, surely the Phantom should be. So does anyone know how this is done? I think it was a Winwing guy on one of their YT videos that told me that it can be done, but so far, I have yet to figure out how. I did come across some .jsom files in the SAP directory last night that were for Winwing, DCS, and Falcon BMS that I installed last night and the MFD's do work in that sim. In the DCS .jsom file, it had entries for all of the applicable aircraft that I have, and it seemed to have all kinds of specific data relating to MFD position and lots of other stuff. Is this the one file that determines which aircraft SAP sees and works with? Or is there something else?
  22. - Is there some key or command I need to do to make the radar stay where I put it? I go in the back seat and get the radar setup the way I want it for the pilot seat and as long as I stay in the back seat, the radar stays where I put it (PPI and 25 mile range). But as soon as I jump back into the pilot seat, within a couple seconds it jumps back to the B scope and 50 mile range. Why does it do this and how can I make it stay where I put it? - I have the Winwing MIP MFD's and UFC. This setup it great for some aircraft like the FA-18, F-16, F-15E, A-10, AV8B and AH-64. It will also do some single older displays aircraft like the F-5E and the MiG-21. Does anyone have an idea how other aircraft can be added to the Winwing SimAppPro list like the F-4E? I mean, if it will show the ancient MiG-21 radar display it ought to be able to do a Phantom radar.
  23. I think this is the mod I tried last night. I couldn't get it to work. I loaded up an F-16 in SimAppPro and then in DCS, the buttons and knobs worked, the MFD's worked but the nothing on the UFC.
  24. So now that I have my MIP humming along nicely in the FA-18 Hornet, I wanted to try it out in a few other aircraft. Setting up the MFD's and knobs and switches was not too hard to figure out. The MFD's all work well. But... I have no UFC data displayed in any other aircraft. So I don't see my comm info or TACAN or autopilot info on the Winwing UFC displays. Obviously it's there in the sim on the main display, but nothing on the Winwing UFC, except for the Hornet. Is this normal? Does the Winwing UFC only work with the FA-18? Or am I missing something?
  25. If I'm not mistaken, the A-10C uses the same basic MFD's as the Hornet. In the A-10C (or maybe it's the Harrier...?), the color of the text and symbols on the HSI/TSD/moving map... can be changed to make them more visible against the colored map. Is there any way to do this on the Hornets AMPCD?
