I know there were only two built but they were still totally bad to the bone... Boeing Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche. Incredible machine. A total shame they were canceled. I use to work for a guy that was a test pilot for them back in the '90's.

P-38 Lightning. I can't believe this isn't already in the works. I'm very exited about the Bearcat but I would give that up for a fork tailed devil... F-111 Aardvark. One of the greatest fighting aircraft ever built. Should be a no-brainer. A post Korean war or Vietnam war plane like an F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk or one of the century series fighter/interceptors. A DCS F-106? Sign me up! A terrain/campaign for Korean or Vietnam war. I know it's not exactly a "combat" scenario but I would love to see a Reno Air Race mod for the Mustang and L-39 (and the Bearcat when it gets released). It isn't exactly shooting combat but it does use vintage warbirds for the unlimited races. A Bone (B-1B). One of the most beautiful planes ever built. Okay, that's my two cents...

This is an easy one. I would love to see DCS have the baddest rotorcraft ever built, even if there were only two ever built... RAH-66 Comanche. The owner of the company I work for is an ex Army helicopter pilot and was a test pilot for the Comanche project.

Have I missed it? when will it be released for DCS 2?

Wheel Brakes: Helpful tip for X-56 Owners
brettt777 replied to Schwarzfeld's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Hmmmmmm.... My G940 joystick has an X and Y axis stick for the thumb that I might could set up the same way. I hated the Spit for the first ten minutes cuz I couldn't get the thing to track straight down the runway. Then I realized it had the same weird brake setup as an L-39 and I had to set up something to operate the brake handle. Anyway, I'll give it a try. -
Absolutely hated it... for the first ten minutes
brettt777 replied to brettt777's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Well, I got it off the ground first time tonight although I did scrape a wingtip once or twice. The landing wasn't so pretty... I suppose I'll get it in time but at least for now I still prefer the Mustang. Maybe once I get the controls dialed in like I have on the P-51 so it's not so twitchy in flight... -
So, I've been thinking about investing in an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive VR set. Some of my favorite PC games are going VR or have already and who doesn't want a more immersive gaming experience? Will DCS do VR or is it coming? Is it worth the $800-1000 investment for VR or should I spend that $$$ on a triple monitor setup and stick with the TrackIR 5?

I really thought I had wasted $40 for the first ten minutes. I could NOT get the thing to track straight down the runway to get airborne! I crashed and burned about a dozen times and said allot of very bad words that I don't normally say. Then I finally realized that a very small bit of differential braking seems to do the trick. So... I finally got it airborne. Once. For about ten minutes. Until I stalled/over-G'd/slammed into a lake tail first. Not sure how that happened... You would think I would have figured this out very quickly because of the weird hand grip bicycle brake arrangement similar to what the L-39 has. Not only do I own the DCS L-39 and fly it regularly, I have also worked on L-39s for a living for the last ten years and have many hours starting/taxiing/riding in them so I know how that all works. That being said, an L-39 obviously doesn't take near as much differential braking to get it pointed down the runway. So, I will try it again tonight and hopefully not crash and burn too many times before I get in the air. Seems to me I had a similar issue with the P-51 when I first got it. And maybe, just maybe, I won't hate it anymore.
-
Okay, found that. So when does it get released for 2.0?
-
So, the Spit has been released and everyone is talking about it. Where is it? I prepaid over a month ago but I don't see anywhere to download it. When I go into DCS 2 into the mod manager, it doesn't show up. What am I missing?
-
My wish list is pretty straight forward... P-38, maybe a 40s-50s carrier based fighter like an F4U Corsair or F8F2 Bearcat. Or maybe an early 50s or 60s carrier fighter like an F9F (the Cougar, not the Panther) and ya gotta do one or two of the century series fighters (F-100, F-101, F102, F104, F-105, F106), and of course, an F-111. The fact that we always need more terrain modules goes without saying.
-
Well, if that's the best that thing can do, it's in trouble cuz any fighter made after 1970 can do that and more.

I want to pre-purchase the Spitfire and use the $10 bonus for purchasing the L-39...
-
Actually I got to looking around after I posted this and no, I don't have any bonus points on my account at this time. If I pre-order the Spitfire with that earn bonus points?

Is the L39 really that noisy in real-life?
brettt777 replied to Spacehamster's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
I worked on L-39s for a living for almost nine years. I was also in naval aviation for 12 years before that. Is an L-39 loud? Yes, definitely. It's a jet, of course it's loud. But MOST other jets that I've ever been around are much louder. When I was in the service I was mostly around A-6s, EA-6s and F-14s. An L-39 doesn't hold a candle to these. I have actually heard of airshows NOT wanting L-39s to perform because they weren't loud enough. True story. That all being said, when you're inside the thing and the canopies are closed, locked, sealed and pressurized, it's actually not all that loud. I wouldn't say you could have a normal conversation between the front and back seats but it's not uncomfortable at all as far as noise goes. Mandellorian said they are very lightly built. I would respectfully disagree with that. The L-39 is a VERY solid airframe or it wouldn't be rated at +8/-4 G's. -
How long will the Spitfire be available for pre-buy? Looks like I will have to wait till at least next week...
-
When I shop for the L-39, it says there is a $12 bonus but when I select it and go to check out, there is no bonus. Why does the bonus not show up?

So I finally got up the courage (I know, it's just a game, right?) to take on a MiG-15 air to air last night. While I didn't get my tail kicked, I didn't win either. It was kind of a draw; I ran out of ammo before I could take him down. That being said, I had a very hard time getting any kind of a line of fire on him. I know the MiG was a bit faster and climbed a little faster also. But he seemed waaaay faster and it looked like he could climb about 5000 feet in the blink of an eye without loosing speed. Just my observation. I also may have had the AI setting on expert... don't remember adjusting it. My question is this, I have tried to shoot an AI aircraft with the A2A missles (GAR-2???) but it ain't working right. I'm quite sure it's operator error although I did at the figure out that the trigger fires the missles instead of the FIRE button. Anyway, what is the proper procedure for acquiring a lock and firing a missle that actually tracks to a target? I can get tone and I can fire the thing but it just goes straight and doesn't track at all. I tried to RTFM but it ain't working for me.
-
Ill give it a try. I had to adjust most all of my axis anyway just because everything was way too sensitive to begin with. I just don't understand why they made it that way when the rest of the plane is so great.
-
Somebody please tell me there's a way to turn down the sensitivity of the nose wheel steering...? (Besides turning the rudder axis sensitivity way down). I can't imagine the real aircraft had NWS that ridiculously touchy...
-
Okay, after reading the manual again a few times, I decided that the step I was missing was going from search mode to DM or DG mode on th radar. I don't know why this would be; if I have a lock, in range, and good tone I would think that would be enough to fire. Anyway, I loaded up a couple L-39s (felt kind of weird to be shooting at them. I've worked on them for a living for the last nine years) going after a runway at Nellis. I went through the entire process again only this time, after getting lock and range, I switched to DM mode, maneuvered for tone, uncaged and fired. And it actually fired a missle! Unfortunately the missle apparently didn't get the target memo and flew straight by the target. I tried again on the other plane and got the same results. So... I can fire a missle now, I just need to figure out how to get said missle to track.
-
I have the F-5 flying around NTTR and have been trying to get the hang of the weapons system but can't get the thing to release a sidewinder. I get a target on radar, aquire it, get the lock light, fly the plane to get the pipper centered, get close enough to get the in range light, get good tone, hold the Missles uncage button, and hit the release... And nothing. No missle release. I have the mode switch in missle, the station switches are on for the wing tips and yes, I do have missles loaded on the aircraft. I know my release button is good cuz I can shoot rockets. What am I doing wrong? I've tried this about a hundred times with the same results; no release. Come to think of it, I couldn't get the sidewinder to fire on the F-86 either the couple times I tried it...

AI traffic in NTTR...?
brettt777 replied to brettt777's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
Will that allow me to have AI traffic coming and going at McCarron? I'm wanting very easy targets for right now cuz I'm relatively new to DCS and haven't had allot of time to get good with the weapons, etc. -
I see allot of AI road and highway traffic around Las Vegas, and I see allot of civilian aircraft at McCarran. Is there any way to have civilian AI traffic in the air?
-
Which version of the F-86F is this? Can it shoot sidewinders, as in a -40?
