I have never had problems with DCS World till now. Fitted a new SSD drive into my computer and reinstalled DCS World into it along with the only Module that I have A10-C from my original files which was all downloaded back in 2012. And everything was working. Now I have tried for two days to update it with a ridiculously slow download speed, 0.8MB which took ages, my first failed and found DCS World would not run anymore. So reinstalled it all, got it going again, updated it which was succesful acording to the menu.....but it will no longer run anymore. So I thought I would download the DCS World files again from scratch with the most up to date version. But before I did I. I was shocked when I checked my monthly download allocation to discover in the past two days trying to update DCS World has downloaded over 14GBs of data and put me way over my monthly allocation which I now have to pay for. When I look at what has been downloaded, its full of zip files for all the modules which I do not even use so completley unnecessary and just wasted my allocation. Now when I check the file sizes for DCS World, its over 9GB big, which means if I download the files in June, already I will have used a quarter of my allocation for next month. When I check my original files from 2012, DCS World was only about 6GB. To me it seems to me that DCS World has out grown itself in the way it is distributed and updated, I cannot even see a way of saving updates, and time to call a day on it now and totally regret buying the F-86 module yesterday which I may never use now. l

Same here, sick of my download speed dropping to 0.8mb on updates and taking hours when other updates use my normal download speed, yesterdays attempt was a total failure, ruined the working installation somehow, so had to reinstall DCS world from scratch again, and now back to updating it at 0.8mb. And all this is doing is wasting my monthly GB allowance by having to do it twice.

Not sure if anyone has come across this set of pilot notes for the Sabre, and not sure if they are for the same variant, but they may be of use use for someone. http://www.rafjever.org/sabrepictures.htm

Maybe the question was:- I work on the 15th floor and I'm 270lbs, how can I loose some weight?
-
I've been getting this problem since about two (world) updates ago but with just a slight bank in order to go into an orbit whilst I sort other things out, but it will not work and just have to fly straigh and level with auto pilot on,

I could'nt wait till tommorow, so I gave it another very quick try, and it worked perfect, but I did have to do China hat fwd long, for a far longer time than I usually do, so perhaps I was not noticing what was not happening by not checking, and presumed it had happened as it always has happened and not noticed anything unusual. Anyway, many thanks to all for your help, patience and assistance. Look at the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I'll be getting up in a few hours.

Yes it gets addictive and keeps the grey matter moving, I wished you had not posted your previous message tonight as I'm now pondering, bed or boot up DCS. I think the whole problem is hinging on, "LCTRL + UP ARROW lONG" and if it is why is it not working in CSAR but it does normally everywhere else. Tommorow I shall try and find out why.
-
Point taken, but I was actually rushing to try and get a quick track to post about the problem and not too concerned about tactics or the mission etc, normally I keep my distance, locate the target with the TGP from as far away as possilbe, usually in an orbit, turn into the TGT, slave the MAV to TGP and launch at the first opportunity. Should have been in bed two hours ago now, and I'm still up

Thanks for the help, but the procedure you mention above in the second paragraph is exactly what I'm doing, and I do know that that procedure does work as I have practised it enough. As for pressing China hat aft long, I do not touch it ( key command C long). But I do use China hat fwd short to reset everything. Its becoming a mystery now, but I'm going to leave it till tommorow, else I'll be pondering on it all night instead of sleeping as to why it will not work in this mission but does in others.

Just opened Csar up and just concentrated on engaging the 3 BTR 60's with Mav's leaving the village with not attempting to complete the mission to to just demonstrate what is happening. I made 3 passes, I would have kept trying but when I tried to get a track to post it crashed just after 2 passes and lost everything so I did not want to risk loosing everything again on my second attempt , On the first, did my usual procedures that normally work, but TGP slaves to selected steerpoint when I attempted to slave Mav to TGP which was tracking the TGT. Second pass, altered the procedure by making the TGP the SOI on the Left MFDU with MAV on the right MFDU as an experiment which I doubted would work but that had the same results. The third pass was the same as the first, once again TGP slaving to steerpoint so I tried to aquire the tgt with the MAV manually but time was running out to locate the tgt before I had to break off and end the mission. I'd keep trying to get it right, but at bedtime I usually find I end up with a too active mind to sleep if I have been on any simulations CSAR.trk

Both the above answers sum up what is happening, except the TGP is the SOI before I switch to maverick, but when I slave the maverick, I am finding the TGP has moved to the selected steerpoint. And everything that Pyroflash mentions I am doing, which works flawlessly in training missions and a couple of the other single missions I have now tried, so for it to be working there it should be working in Csar. This morning I had a little time, and to confirm my keybindings etc had not changed by accident, I tried a quick mission on the range and everything worked perfect. TGP remaining on target and MAV slaving to that point I then opened Csar up, and concentrated only on engaging the 3 BTR's moving along the road with Mav's and not bothered about the outcome of the mission as I wanted to see if I could spot was really happening. I located the Tgt with the TGP, which was also the SOI, I then made it the SPI and it was tracking the lead veh perfectly, I also set up the TGP on the left MFDC so I could see what was happening, switched to MAV, TGP still tracking the tgt, and when I do China hat forward, I see that the TGP moves to the steerpoint and don't have the foggiest where the Mav ends up pointing except it bears no resembelance to what the TGP is looking at. It seems that the TGP may at some point stop being the SOI for some unknown reason. Is there a possibility that there's something in the cockpit when the mission was created that needs altering when you enter the mission, a switch or something that I am failing to see and change it too an other settings. Now I have seen what is happening, I will work on it and try and spot what is causing it to go wrong.
-
I'm actually not reffering to what happens in a mission with the AI etc, I'm actually reffering to how differently the TGP for example is reacting.
-
I don't keep tracks, but when I get time I'll refly it again and record it. The whole problem seems to be why does the TGP act so different and jump about of its own accord unpredictably. In training missions along with my own range mission and in the Smerch mission it works flawlessly and remains on target, but in Csar, it has a mind of its own. I'll have to try some of the others to see if the same happens or it might just be unique to Csar

The keyboard I have is a Microsoft Digital Pro, and the F lock button is top right, just underneath the LED's, the button is also labeled F Lock and has a small symbol with F on, despite that it took a while to discover it and work out what it does. The logic of the button seems to work the opposite way to what you would expect, I would have thought the F keys would work properly with it off and as media keys with it on, but its the opposite way round. The F keys work normally, when its on and is also indicated so by the corresponding LED which lights up. That might be a clue if you have an F lock key, does your keyboard have 4 LED's as opposed to the normal 3 LEDs?

Well I'm getting totally frustrated with it all now, it seems there is a big difference between the training missions and the single missions. I have practised over and over again, and on my own created ranges with different weapons and have no problem and mastered them. But soon as I try the single mission, Czar, every thing goes pearshaped, locating the target becomes so unpredictable, even the calls of the location of the tgt can be so far out its unreal when I set them up as an offset and no where near the action. The bulls eye call as an offset at times just points to a snow covered mountain top, no where near where the action is???????????????? Then when I locate the target with the TGP, try and slave a maverick to that point, there is nothing there, go back to the TGP and its pointing in a different direction so I then have to try finding the tgt again from scratch?????????? yet it works perfect in the training missions and I'm doing nothing different. Then when I get the TGP to point at a waypoint, mark etc, soon as I start searching around that area for a target, the TGP instantly jumps a good distance away from that point for no reason at all, once again it works flawlessly in the training missions and once again I'm doing nothing different. Unless that mission has bugs in it. But after tonight, trying to fathom out what was wrong and just getting frustrated all the time, I doubt I will bother buying that "Warthog" joystick and save myself some money as I'm beggining to think this game is just bugged a bit too much.
-
Well thats what my keyboard is like, media keys set on the F keys, but it did take a while to fathom out I had a F lock key and which one it was. Perhaps yours is the same, as it seems stupid if its not possible to use the F keys for there normal purpose's
-
I had a problem with the "F" keys, the only one that worked properly was F1, all the others did nothing or made the aircraft become uncontrolable leading to crashing if I recall correctly I found eventually that it was down to my keyboard having an "F" lock key, once I switched it on, everything worked normally

Played it a few more times now and the problems have not reoccured. Also edited and saved the mission to move the three static vehicles to another location and the wingman will now taxi to the runway and take off.
-
Just replayed the mission, apart for the wingman bug, it played flawlessly. Ref the weapons page showing nothing visible, all weapon stations were blank and outlined in red. I have a feeling something may have gone wrong with the Data load yesterday. Yesterday and today, I started using the auto engine start etc, but today the Auto load page on the MFDS seemed to stay displayed longer.
-
Finally retried this mission, and this time the wingman did move, but his route to the runway was blocked by some static trucks and he remained there and would not move, regardless of any messages I sent. But the whole mission was "Porked", despite having weapons visible under the wings, nothing was showing on the DSMA page. On the first target I was sent to by JTAC, I could not find nothing there, no matter how much I searched in the surrounding area, after about 10 minutes and many low passes, the enemy appeared unexpectantly on the JTAC grid and as I only had my gun I became too badly damaged with not being able to keep a distance from the AA and had to RTB. I then needed azimuths from ATC etc as I had no MFDS etc, but then after a frustrating 20 minutes, I was just sent back and forth, every azimuth given would be 180 degrees to the previous one, eventually I found the airbase and just as I was about to land, the game froze and CTD'ed

Does my head in them tuning panels, it would be far easier to be able to type a figure in then trying to move the sliders with a mouse. Every time I feel like fisting the monitor because I cannot get the figure I want as I always seem to go past it, even slowing my mouse down to its lowest DPI setting does not help
-
I have just been been shot down by a Sam 13, which incidently was also my JTAC target at an altitude of 12600', according to my checklist its maximum altitude should be 11500', so I gave it about 3000' clearance, just dipping slighlty to launch a Maverick but staying above by over a 1000'. Afterwards when I was looking at my "9 line" brief from JTAC, the targets altitude was 2200', so do I have to presume therefore, that you must add the Sam's elevation to its maximum altitude to stay safe. It seems to me to think so, but if it is, then I have not ever noticed this in any other flight sim. I had actually locked onto another SA13 closeby inadvertantly which led me to overflying the Sam 13 which was my target and got into its range so it managed to nobble me rangewise, it was just the altitude at what it got me that I am questioning.
-
I never got the chance to try as I had to go out unexepectantly and it was only an experiment to see if I could change aircraft and did not have plans to try, I cannot even recall if his engines were turning. I'll give it another try tommorow.
-
Oddly enough, I have just come across this problem with the wingman not taking off, I tried a few messages to try and get him moving but it did not work. I don't think its because he's blocked in though, because I inadvertantly crashed, and transferred to his aircraft and there is nothing blocking his route in front of him. The vehicles are to the side. As for the Audio it was working for me.
-
Oddly enough, that is what I do, but I will look into it further in case something else is amiss, I would sooner my procedures are wrong than having to put up with my keyboard not working giving dodgy commands, but now every thing is sorted, I can sit back and start enjoying the game
