  1. Couple years (or more) ago Combat Aircraft magazine featured a Sea Harrier pilot interview (spread over 2 issues). The pilot talked about the Balkan ops in the 90's, and that they flew with Sea Eagle training rounds to refresh ops/tactics to counter a possible Fast Attack Craft threat. He mentioned the visual Bearing-Only mode...

  3. Not the -1A manual, the pages are from a -1. Perhaps a early (mid 80's) version, cant say atm because I dont have the file at hand (pdf from eflihtmanuals). Its possible that the TCS section got moved into another manual in later editions.
  4. I've have seen photos of F/A-18A in '91 DS with the ASQ-173. And none of the available docs says that the A can not use LGBs. So the info available says A with LGB = OK.
  5. Three variants. # in last column is weight in lb. PDF from forecastinternational archived reports. BA0020 AAS-38-A-B NITE HAWK.pdf
  6. From backups. Perhaps more, somewhere.
  7. Iraqi MiG-23 pilots have done it.
  8. No link. Old pics album is long gone (it was from 2007 or so). Photos are by Dan "Turk" Pentecost. VF-1, VX-4 (ACE/AIM '76/'77)
  9. Photo is taken over the Philippines. This and a few more were shared by one of the Pilots involved in the 1975 deployment and subsequent ops over Vietnam. Several of the F-14 were equipped with the IRST sensor.

  11. Theres an article on it somewhere... SAT SAMIR (or something like that) detector .. mounted in 1995 on the M2000C's operating over Bosnia.
  12. Regarding 4x Magic It is possible, technically. Just as with so many other things, not always used by every operator or if, then very rarely. The Super 530 launchers are replaced by another set of single Magic launchers which are specific for the inboard wing stations. Their shape (upper part which connects to the wing) is different from the launchers used on the outer wing stations.

    Mirage F1

Of the export variants, Moroccan F1's saw the most heavy combat usage after the Iraqi F1's. With Libya next in line, most probably. Only 4 export variants are "real" 2nd Generation F1's (original, non-updated) with digital Nav/Attack System : F1EH F1EDA F1EJ F1EQ (inclusive the EQ4, 5 and 6) All others are generally F1C with an inertial navigation system. Their cockpits generally have a similar configuration like a F1C, the main difference is the INS panel on the right-hand console. Dassault regarded all F1's with INS as Multi-Role. Short nose / long nose Early F1C without IFR capability have the "short nose" , i.e. the "normal" fuselage length. The F1C-200 and all other variants with IFR capability have the forward end of the fuselage re-constructed and lengthened by 8 cm. There was no "plug", as it is so often mentioned in literature. There are three variants without IFR capability but which have the lengthened fuselage : F1CK-2 F1EDA F1JA ~
