Improved stability and dedicated server - Discussion
jers replied to NineLine's topic in Multiplayer
In the interest of not repeating ourselves and going in circles, here's a link to the old thread if you guys wanna catch up: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215348 -
Or it takes them 5-10 minutes to get past the loading screen.

Multiplayer desync for multiple minutes continously
jers replied to TAW_Blaze's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
This has been happening for at least 4 or 5 years. At this point I no longer think they care. -
I want to keep this respectful as possible and I'm going to attempt to do this without whining, but we're trying to run a online community here at Hoggit (and I'm sure many others) and it's really difficult to do that with the anemia around the multiplayer side of things. I know there's a huge singleplayer base and but I'm trying to make the case here for the online communities who are trying our best to keep your product up and running (and more importantly keeping interest in more of your modules) The two biggest issues are we desperately need dedicated server software that can run on Linux. It's prohibitively expensive to run dedicated Windows hardware to support dedicated servers. The second problem is stability is a joke. For years and years we've put up with desync and crashes for all but the most trivial of missions. We have a community of 14 thousand people that want to play online and most of them have given up, and I can't blame them. We try to give them better mission experiences with things like scripting and complex missions but anytime a mission reaches any amount of complexity at all it grinds to a halt after just an hour or so. Are we just not driving enough interest in your sales to be worth it? With decent multiplayer our community would probably *triple* and with that comes sales of modules old and new. I'm basically begging at this point to get some kind of definitive answer out of Wags or someone. Even a strongly worded "It's not going to happen" would be better than this limbo. Thanks for taking the time to read this, maybe we'll get some kind of response. Maybe not, but I'm begging you here guys.

Not a massive issue unless you have mission scripting that fires on the base captured event, in which case it'll fire on every base that has changed hands over the course of a mission every time a new client joins your server. A captured base will momentarily revert back to the original coalition it was when saved in the ME, and then back to what it should be.

Hey guys, over at Hoggit we've been running a dynamic mission called Georgia At War that we've been developing for a few months. It's gotten pretty stable so I'd like to invite you guys to check it out. For a quick breakdown of GAW and how it works, check out this video: So far the feedback has been great, and we've had a good time with it so come check it out. If you're on Discord or want to get started with Discord., jump onto https://discord.gg/hoggit and type !password in any of the channels our bot is in (like, #general and #lounge, for instance) for the password. If you're not interested in getting on Discord, feel free to PM me for the password. Thanks for checking it out, guys! Here's a bonus hype video we made back when we first launched

I revived the old "documentation" for exporting DCS data, the only place I could find it was a blog post in the Wayback Machine. Hopefully this will be a slightly more permanent home for it. I don't know what info here is out of date or incorrect, I *think* most of it is good, however. Please let me know if anything is incorrect. https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/DCS_export Also if you guys and gals can think of any other information that only exists in obscure places I'd love to be able to add them, so let me know if you think of any.

We added an F-18 section, at the moment it's a collation of the best stuff we've got out there. If you think of anything else we can put there please let me know or feel free to add it https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/F/A-18C

That's a great idea about the country availability per threat, cypc. Great suggestion. Also it's my pleasure Dart, feel free to add anything or ask me to add anything to the page you think is important.

I moved the F-16 BMS stuff to a "Non-DCS World" section, I agree it did look pretty silly under DCS Modules especially at the top of the list :megalol:

Hoggit's DCS World (And other sims) Wiki If you're looking to learn, or to teach we're hoping to build the best centralized repository of DCS/Flight Sim knowledge around. We've got a long way to go, but we're off to a good start and we could use your help! We've got information on: DCS World Modules (and Falcon BMS) including a convenient centralized location for all of Chuck's guides. We're always looking to add more information to this section of the wiki so feel free to contribute. The Simulator Scripting Engine documentation including the "official" documentation of MIST by Grimes and good information on the Basic ME GUI Charts and arrival/departure procedures for the airports in DCS World A DCS World threat database And lots more. In true wiki fashion this is editable by anyone so if you want to contribute or maybe learn something new feel free to check it out.

[OLD BUG REPORTS] Cleaning and Organization of old posts
jers replied to RAZBAM_ELMO's topic in Resolved Bugs
Seems this has regressed in 2.0.4. The Vertical seems to be working ok, but the horizontal is working like a binary on/off. You can lower the saturation to about 50 and it still rockets across the screen, any lower than that and it doesn't move at all. -
http://hoggitworld.com/missions/236/red-red-white-and-blue/ Check out and download the mission above. Highlights: Night ship based operation for Ka-50s in rough weather. Really gonna test your piloting skills OA-10's must locate and illuminate targets with parachute flares in rocket form and SUU-25 Use the A-10 TGP laser with the KA-50 night vision helmet to put the helos on target A-10's are there for observation and forward control only. Use teamwork with your fellow helo pilots to achieve the objective. Comment here or on the hoggitworld page and let me know what you guys think!
-
When you finish it will you consider uploading it to http://hoggitworld.com/missions/upload ? You don't need an account or anything and it'll add it to our search engine where hopefully a bunch of people from hoggit and other communities will be able to find it! Here's an example of what the mission page generated from the upload looks like: http://hoggitworld.com/missions/215/on-station-classicmiz/

In anycase I've updated it with Talon's Reach here: http://hoggitworld.com/missions/179/operation-talons-reach/ and both versions of gridiron: http://hoggitworld.com/missions/180/operation-gridiron/ and http://hoggitworld.com/missions/181/operation-gridiron/ I bet what happened is you accidentally uploaded the zip file instead of the miz files, I do that all the time still and I wrote the damn thing. I definitely need to put better errors up!
-
Oooh, sorry to hear you had trouble uploading them, can I trouble you to ask what happened when you tried to upload them miz files?
