  1. Hey guys, I'm going to be moving house soon and I FINALLY get a room all to my self for my PC and set up. I will be stopping short of a full blown pit but I will be getting one of those Kobultu chair/desks and also a projector for MASSIVE A10 fun ;) However, I don't really know much about projectors for DCSw so maybe some people with past experience can point me in the direction of a good projector? (edit: Or the bad ones to stay away from!) My budget is ideally less than £700 but I can go to £1000 if I really need to - but I would prefer not to. Any suggestions anyone? Many thanks, Sharpe
  2. Thanks all, yes I did mean NCTR (doh). Good to know it's a bug about the A10. But I have also learnt something new with regards to circles and rectangles :) - is that 'infallible' in DCSW? Many thanks everyone -Sharpe
  3. Hi all, Forgive my lack of understanding here but I have noticed that when flying the F15 in FC3 the IFF vs A10's shows 'unknown' - is this the way it is supposed to work? I assume that as the A10 has no radar it therefore has no AESA and thus can't IFF squawk. Is that about right or is something missing? -Sharpe
  4. Very exciting news :) Let the rampant speculation begin! For my part, having read (very carefully) the wording and structure of the news email, my two penneth is as follows: Seems like ED want 1.2.4 out soon , and to coincide with the 64bit switchover and the UH-1 "in the next few months". Therefore I recon (hope) that this will all be announced and presented sometime around Q2/Q3-13 - maybe even at Legends (pretty much slap bang in the middle of Q2/3)? OFC I won't complain if its earlier ;) Next (and God how I hope I am right here), it seems that they may be looking to complete one (or both) of the F/A18c/F15c before the close of this year. My reason for this assumption is the description of wanting "FC3 and continued updates and improvements to DCSW" (let's assume this to tie in with/refer to 1.2.4), followed by F/A18 and F15. This is followed by (not preceded by) "looking further out", the 3rd party modules . Hopefully that implies a release date around Q3/Q4-13 or Q1-14 - maybe with the 3rd parties hot on their heels. Finally, it seems that ED want Nevada out before the end of this year. Perhaps they may release one (or both) of F/A18/F15 with Nevada as a nice Xmas pressie for us all! It would make good business sense for ED to be the first to release a high fidelity fast mover. Being first in allows people to grab ED's product and slake their thirst for the high fidelity fast mover that we have been craving for so long. Broadly speaking, people will buy it no matter what it is unless a third party provides a specific release date near to the ED products release. I wouldn't underestimate this 'gold rush' mentality. I for one will buy the first high fidelity multirole that comes out no matter what the aircraft is or who makes it. I may be more inclined to 'shop only for my specific favourites' (Hawk/Typhoon-VEAO*cough*) after I own my first fast air multirole module. I have fallen victim to this 'need for speed' once already with FC3 - a product (no offence to ED) that I would normally not have got if a high fidelity fast moving multirole was already available - own up, I am sure I am not the only one in this position ;) Of course, the implication would be that the aircraft of choice would be a multirole/swing-role as perhaps not everyone is as interested in a single role fighter (or bomber), where as a multirole/swing-role (F/A-18*cough*) would be all things to all men - unless you want to go Russian, in which case it seems you would have to wait anyway. Thanks for the update ED - very informative and very exiting - I can't wait! -Sharpe
  5. Aw man - I saw them at RIAT 2012 and they were great. Was really looking forward to seeing them at RIAT 2013 :(
  6. A fascinating read - many thanks. Now a question to those who design/test DCSW: Is IFF, probability/possibility of fratricide, 'fog of war', target vectors (or lack thereof) and the need to VID (or even just ID) a target modelled in any way into the in game AI? If the AI 'automatically' knows friend from foe from long range (unrealistically, depending on what IFF kit is on the platform) he can fire with total impunity. Only interested as it clearly puts the 'human' pilot at a disadvantage to their AI competitor - we 'may' be concerned about hitting our own guys, depending on who it is......... -Many thanks, Sharpe
  7. Thanks for clearing that up guys. My interest is in F15 but ill buy anthing high fidelity with a dcs badge :) -Sharpe
  8. - Really? I thought the 'intro to DCSW' vid that was seen recently was 'as good as' an announcement - please tell me I don't have to start holding my breath after getting excited :( - Sharpe
  9. More fairly reliable info from wiki that shows its capabilities in terms of stores, which should clarify the things we will (in the case of munitions already modelled) and what we may (in terms of wapons not currently modelled - i think its safe to say the nuke won't be modelled but hopefully the JSOW, 2000lb JDAM &LGB will be). Here are the specs: Armament Guns:1×20 mm (0.787 in) M61 Vulcan nose mounted 6-barreled gatling cannon, 578 rounds Hardpoints (9 total): 2× wingtips missile launch rail, 4× under-wing, and 3× under-fuselage with a capacity of 13,700 lb (6,215 kg) external fuel and ordnance. Rockets: 2.75 inches (70mm) Hydra 70 rockets 5in (127.0mm) Zuni rockets Missiles: Air-to-air missiles: 4×AIM-9 Sidewinder or 4×AIM-132 ASRAAM or 4×IRIS-T or 4×AIM-120 AMRAAM, and 2×AIM-7 Sparrow or additional 2×AIM-120 AMRAAM Air-to-surface missiles: AGM-65 Maverick Standoff Land Attack Missile (SLAM-ER) AGM-88 HARM Anti-radiation missile(ARM) AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) Taurus missile (Cruise missile) Anti-ship missile: AGM-84 Harpoon Bombs: JDAM precision-guided munition (PGMs) Paveway series of laser-guided bombs Mk 80 series of unguided iron bombs CBU-87 cluster CBU-89 gator mine CBU-97 Mk 20 Rockeye II B61/Mk57 nuclear bombs Others: SUU-42A/A Flares/Infrared decoys dispenser pod and chaff pod or Electronic countermeasures (ECM) pod or AN/AAS-38 Nite Hawk Targeting pods (US Navy only), to be replaced by*AN/ASQ-228 ATFLIR or LITENING targeting pod (USMC, Royal Australian Air Force, Spanish Air Force, and Finnish Air Force only) or up to 3× 330 US gallons (1,200l; 270imp gal) Sargent Fletcher drop tanks for ferry flight or extended range/loitering time. 10. Not my area of expertise but a trawl of wiki (good for general ball park info) has the following, well referenced info: The F/A-18C and D models are the result of a block upgrade in 1987[12] incorporating upgraded radar, avionics, and the capacity to carry new missiles such as the AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missile and*AGM-65 Maverick and AGM-84 Harpoon air-to-surface missiles. Other upgrades include the Martin-Baker NACES (Navy Aircrew Common Ejection Seat), and a self-protection jammer. Asynthetic aperture ground mapping radar enables the pilot to locate targets in poor visibility conditions. C and D models delivered since 1989 also have improved night attack abilities, consisting of the Hughes AN/AAR-50 thermal navigation pod, the Loral AN/AAS-38 NITE Hawk FLIR (forward looking infrared array) targeting pod, night vision goggles, and two full-color (formerly monochrome) multi-function display (MFDs) and a color moving map. Beginning in 1992, the F404-GE-402 enhanced performance engine, providing approximately 10% more maximum static thrust became the standard Hornet engine. Since 1993, the AAS-38A NITE Hawk added a designator/ranger laser, allowing it to self-mark targets. The later AAS-38B added the ability to strike targets designated by lasers from other aircraft. Hope that is of interest? -Sharpe
  11. Disregard - Many thanks for 123 seems to be working great and also seems to have fixed the issue above. -Sharpe
  12. Hey guys, After much ummming and arrrring I decided to dabble with KA50. Trouble is, I have had a good, clean install of BS1 that works but I cant install BS2. For some reason it keeps telling me that I need to activate BS1 first (which, of course, I have already done)???? I see there can be an issue that is something to do with registry files, and that you should run some sort of tool. But everytime I open up the link to the tool it opens up a quicktime player file which fails to load? Can anyone suggest anything or help? Please tell me it wont mean another full reinstall of DCS World and/or the modules I dont think I could do that again! Especially as I hear we will all be doing it again for the new patch :( -Please help, :(:pain::badmood: Sharpe
