  1. The excellent BAE Hawk from VEAO is likely to come out some time early next year. If you are lucky you might be able to get your hands on an early licence to alpha/beta test. -Sharpe
  2. I love you PeterP and want to have your babies  Please accept payment in the form of my house/wallet/wife/child (take your pick). All I would ask is visitation rights (to my PC in my house, the wife you can keep!). Many thanks, rep inbound, -Sharpe
  3. Goes to show the level of stupidity we are dealing with he - I am sorry PeterP but I just don't understand your very comprehensive and well written manual (I told you I was stupid with Lua etc) I am (or should I say 'was') able to position the view ports (indeed I have a script ready to go that I saved before I reinstalled DCS). My issue is I cant get the view ports to 'appear' or get them 'active' so to speak. Once I can get this done, I can simply reuse my old Lua script detailing the exact locations for each viewport (I was running HELIOS with Cpt. Luz's set up). So I just need to do what EMC used to do - ie 'install' the view ports in order to make them come onto my second screen and do 'what they have been told to do' in my lua file. Sigh - sorry for being so utterly useless. More :helpsmilie: please -Sharpe
  4. Hey all, I was forced to do a clean install of DCS recently. However, when I came to use trusty EMC by Iceman I found that doesn't work either. I have not seen anything to suggest that Iceman is aware/attempting to fix his software and I am left running helios with no 'view ports' (correct term?). My questions: 1) Does anyone know if there is any likelihood of EMC getting updated some time soon? 2) Is there a fix? 3) Is there a workaround? [bearing in mind that I know basically nothing of LUA scripting/code and getting the 'viewports' into the right place on my profile lua script is about the extent of my ability in this area (hence using EMC).] :helpsmilie: Many thanks, -Sharpe
  5. This has been known about for years. Only question was whether or not it would be replaced by anything (like the F35B which they decided against a few months back). Aircraft get old, capabilities change, future requirements evolve. -Sharpe PS: I would like to highlight a quote from the article: "However, Welsh said the A-10 finds itself on the chopping block because 'it’s a single-mission airplane, essentially,' and would struggle in more contested airspaces". A point a lot of people around here seem to have misunderstood or ignored. TIME FOR A MULTIROLE
  6. On customer demand? Lol no way mate. I think the phrase would be delusion not understanding if people think ED does what customers want. ED is a business, a Russian one at that and will do what it wants. Always has always will. Operative part of my post was IMHO 'in MY humble opinion'. -Sharpe
  7. No not at the expense of DCS: F/A18. I think it is a general mistake to make single role aircraft (A10c, Huey, MI4). Don't get me wrong high fidelity anything is good but DCS needs to get some more versatile and capability dynamic platforms. F15c would be great at DCS level but it's still 90% a fighter and has very limited A-G capability. Its a recipe for people getting bored IMHO. This is why people are so fixated about F/A18. So, a no vote but only on the basis of platform type/capability and because it needs to be at the back of the list not the front of it. -Sharpe
  8. Many kind thanks headspace. I'll experiment soon. -Sharpe
  9. Hey guys, As title really, I cant seem to get Helios to work alongside TARs - has anyone seen this or is it normal in the current 'fix'. If its not normal can anyone explain how to fix Helios/TARS/DCS to enable them all to play nice and work? Regards, Sharpe PS: Might be pushing my luck but I cant get TACVIEW to work in multiplayer - is this to do with a Helios conflict to? Dare I ask about Helios/TARS/TACVIEW working at the same time in DCS?
  10. Hi guys, I used EMC on my last set up - worked fine. But I have recently had to do a full reinstall of DCS. For some reason I now cant get EMC to work no matter what I do. When I load it up, the message comes up saying 'do you wish to install LUA files', but after that I end up in a single tab labled 'Misc.' with no radio boxes to select which ports I want. Can anyone see what the issue is and/or can anyone suggest how to fix this? Many thanks, -Sharpe
  11. Good fix Dredd many thanks for the talk on -rep inbound  -Sharpe
  12. Bump - anyone seen this or have a fix?
  13. Hey guys, I was forced to do a full reinstall but now the game is not picking up TIR in the controls configurator -Help please? -Sharpe (PS TIR up to date)
  14. I cannot even begin to describe how stupid that would be. Besides, if that's the case why bother 'patching' 126? Further, why tell us tankers are fixed in latest patch. No, I think its just ED being ED - do not "mistake lethargy for strategy" (for all you Yes Minister/Prime Minister fans out there) :smilewink: - Sharpe
  15. Sharpe_95

    DCS F-35?

Yup - sometimes I really think that ED only offers its 'FULL' support to Russian producers/producers that are willing/able to work at their HQ in Moscow. Just my opinion. -Sharpe
  16. Yes sorry I meant you cant 'stay' connected, it immediately discos. -Sharpe
  17. I quote the patch notes: "DCS: A-10C Warthog Fixed tanker not completing refuelling when in network play." And am a little surprised to see that the tanker is still broken. Now you cant even connect. How on earth can such an obvious error have made it through testing? Half a step forwards and 3 back (again). Where did I put that copy of BMS.................. -Sharpe
  18. Its ED - what do you think? And BTW the tankers will be fixed too :smilewink: -Sharpe
  19. PS: Is this a joke/wind up? -Sharpe
  20. The P51 is more than flyable - it just takes a bit of practice. But i would bear in mind the following: - 'Sim' you can just jump in and fly with low learning curve = arcade/console game or low fidelity survey at best (like FC3). -'Sim' that you can't just jump in and fly/has a long and steep learning curve/requires a reasonably high IQ/you crash more than you fly at first = high fidelity or study sim like DCS mustang/A10c etc. Oh and by the way - your take off assistance is probably let to 100% so enjoy the curve :) -Sharpe
  21. Hi guys, As title really. TARS works fine on its own, but when I turn Helios on only the UHF works properly. I can broadcast on AM/FM but not receive on AM/FM. -Any thoughts anyone? -Sharpe
  22. You know I think your last point is the critical one 'what needs to be done'. I think that's why so many people are going for EDGE first. Sadly for me, the only things I am interested in for DCSW is multi role 4/5th gen HiFi, dynamic campaign, new maps; that's really all I want from the game. While I don't suggest having the other stuff (and more) isn't good, its just not going to float my boat. Sigh, if only it were two years from now...... -Sharpe
  23. I get your pint SS and I am really not whining here (to be honest I think I am waving the white flag too) But its the pace that really concerns me. As you say they will (probably) go to an whole new level/non compatible/start from scratch DCSW2 in the future (hopefully it will continue to evolve and not just die out). BUT if it takes 2 years to do 1 product then I wonder how much life is in this as a whole if it takes so long to a a product (albeit a hard one with SAR and carriers). Don't get me wrong I am not criticising, but with all the good will in the world ED is a small team and can only do so much at one time, and pushing any news (let alone a product) back 10-15 months is not an encouraging sign. But yes, I am a glass empty kind of guy and I apologise for that. But I would say the old quote in my defence 'a realist is what an idealist calls a cynic'. -Sharpe
  24. Probably coz ED have effectively waved the white surrender flag on the F/A18c. Wags has said not to expect any notices on the F/A18c till at least next summer, which means don't expect to see/use it till at least Xmas 2014. Sounds to me like they just don't have the resources available to devote to 'fixing'/sorting out the carrier operations and the ground radar. In the final analysis I will put money on them canning it totally coz if its going to be late 2014 in 'ED time' before we can expect to see anything of use about the F/A18c then that probably means it might have been ready some time in 2015. My money is on ED canning it and letting 3rd parties take the reins on new platforms for the most part (or entirely). I mean, with a 3rd party F/A18E due out it is like that will beat the F/A18c out the blocks and I really cant see many people wanting to 'downgrade' from a super hornet to a normal hornet. For that 18c to make ED money it needed to be first out the block of at least the Hornets - that's before you look at all the other good stuff we can hope to see: Typhoon, F15E, JSF, Mig21Bis etc etc. Mind you, ED are going to have to extend the same kind of love to the 3rd parties that they have given to Belsimtek - otherwise we wont be getting nothing but transport helos till the end of time :music_whistling: Thus I recon people are shifting to ED getting EDGE done so the whole world (so to speak) can move on. I agree that a multirole is high on the list (top in my books) but I really can see why people are going for EDGE above F/A18c Its also suprising to see how well Nevada is doing - after all...."Its just a desert. Its not that cool". -Sharpe
  25. A gentle bump as I am sure we can get more than 173 votes :) -Sharpe
