A newbie forum would be an excellent idea, no doubt! Also a way to gather tons of questions in one place for new players like me ^^

I'm thinking about printing out the manual myself to put it in a binder of some sort. Yeah, the Warthog stick is on my wishlist to, but got 2-3 other items I would like to get first ^^

So, last newbie update: Got my X52 Pro joystick, TrackIR is on the way in the mail and I just had my first trip into the skies...and what an experience. Mind you, this is my very first flight sim and I'm blown away, really great experience just flying around trying to keep controle of the hog. It's a shame the training mission is bugged but I'm enjoying myself either way. Now, back to practicing.

Btw, on the subject of computers. Having looked at the specs of my computer, do you reckon it should be able to run the game in multiplayer without to many problems or do I need to upgrade?

Oh he didn't do it, I did ^^ I didn't know the difference and thought "well I used the 32 bit on my old computer, so just gonna use that again" completely ignoring the fact that I bought this new computer because I wanted something more "powerfull". My computer-wiz buddy's reaction when I told him about installing 32 was just "but...why?"...so yes, no one to blame but me!

I've written down what order I need to do things in, haven't written down where they are, just the names, so will still have to look for them and get used to where they are located. Guess it's all a question of "muscle" memory.

Well, I took it as a learning experience, I had no idea about 32 vs 64...and already got "minus nerd points" from a friend for not having 64 installed. Right now I'm just happy to be able to sit in the cockpit and pushing buttons, seems to be running smoothly and I hope it won't be to bad when I start flying (with the graphics and all), but I got it all maxed and so far no problems...while sitting on the ground.

I already love it, just tried for the first time to start it all up and I'm already excited about it. Also took the time to write the whole procedure down for the future, dunno if that counts as "cheating" though ^^

Should be here sometime next week along with my joystick. Right now I'm just going through training...learning to start up the plane with it falling apart ^^

So, I've taken the first baby steps! Gotten the game installed and working and now eating through the training...had one weird thing happen in the second training video (where you're in the air and you get told about the displays, HOTAS etc)...the plane crashed...though it should be on autopilot. I had my cat on the table at that time though, so he might have hit something on the keyboard ^^ Anyways, enough writing...back to training! Edit: Scratch another item off the list, just ordered TrackIR, not sure how well it'll work with the size of my screen and with the headmovements, but we'll see.

Just thought I'd put in an update. Got it working now, an install of win 64bit seemed to have done it. Thanks everyone for the help!

Sadly no, this is the only item I have that's capable of internet access.

I don't mind wiping everything, got nothing on it I wanna keep. I did start up the computer with the disc in the computer and followed some guides on youtube, but after I click "custom" and have to choose where to install it, it won't let me pick any of the choices. This is what it says "The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems Windows can only be installed to GPT disks"

For some reason it won't let me install win 64bit, so gonna give it a rest till I can get one of my computer-wiz friends to come over an look at it.

Well like I said, I know absolutely nothing about computers ^^ I got this one cause a friend of mine who does know alot about, said it would do well for my needs...and it had pretty red lights that match my lightsaber. I'll get it installed and see how it goes.

Well I have reinstalled windows 7 32bit since then? to be honest, I never knew the difference, thought that was just the "standard".

Well, I have a prebuilt computer by HP haven't changed anything in at all. Will try and see if I can figure out whats in it.

Just tried to redownload and reinstall, put settings to the lowest...and still the same result :/ Getting a bit discouraged here, never had this must trouble with a game before.

Well not giving up, but not knowing anything about computers makes it hard to keep up. Right now I'm trying to re-download and install the game, proberbly not gonna make a difference but worth a shot anyway.

Gotta be honest, no idea what that cougar thing is really about, but it looks awsome and it has buttons, so I'm sold. I do wanna make a bit (though a mech themed pit..sorry!) but just don't have the space and the Warthog is on my wishlist for sure. Can't wait to get into the game, right now I can't get it working though so no practice till that's done.
